So because the one thing that is missing here on our blog is pictures, I have finally added a Photo Gallery for Big Brother 8 Live Feed Screen Caps. This is the first of what I hope will be many pages of screen captures from the Live Feeds!

This is a handful of pics I grabbed while watching the Live Feeds from July 21 through July 24. (I am on top of things aren’t I?) I am still working out the new photo gallery plug-in but so far I like it. The first page can be viewed by going here…

Big Brother 8 Screen Caps – July 2007

or you will find it on the side bar to the right under the new Newsletter sign up form!

(right over here —>)

Let us know what you think of the new addition to Big Brother Blog! We would love to hear from you! Also let us know if you have some pictures you would like to add to the site. I am going to start separating the pages by days for easier viewing.

Peace,

Big Brother Blogger

House Divided: A Case For Kail, A Case For Eric

by soonerryan on August 8, 2007

Not only has the Big Brother house become a house divided this week, but so has the BB8 television and live-feed watching universe.

Most of you have expressed your disdain with Eric and Dustin for their manipulation and deception. There was an uproar today when Eric told Jessica a deep, dark secret from Amber about some abortions she had and some pregnancies she had lied about to her boyfriend.

However, I didn’t see any outrage a few days ago when Amber referred to New York Jews as greedy money-grubbers. Seems to me one of the British players from a season ago was ditched by Big Brother for using the “N” word, and my friends, Amber’s sentiment ain’t far behind. Is telling a secret to another houseguest actually less socially acceptable than the blatantly anti-Semitic stereotype?

I’d argue that one is within the context of the game, and the other is just bigoted.

Bottom line: This ain’t a pretty game, and none of our houseguests are angels. So, let’s get to business. Who’s going home?

Unless something riveting happens on Wednesday, Kail is evicted at least 4-3, possibly 5-2. However, what are the pros of keeping each houseguest from the other players’ perspectives?

Kail I’ll be honest. I like Kail. She might be about the most genuine person in the house. That she hasn’t connected with the other houseguests is a direct result of her terrible decision to align with three strangers on Day 1.

However, Dick and Zach and Jen should work with Jameka to get a fourth vote in favor of the Oregon mother with the promise that Kail won’t nominate them or Daniele the next week, which is quite possibly a double-eviction week.

Oh, wait. Kail can’t even compete for the HoH for five weeks. Yikes, that’s a deal-killer. However, Kail can still compete for PoVs, and she’s a solid competitor. She’s good with physical challenges, particularly.

Oh yeah, and Jameka has already promised her vote to Eric.

I’ll be honest. I can’t quite figure out how Kail’s retention benefits the other contestants now that she can’t be HoH until like the Final 5. However, if you know, post a comment.

Eric I like Eric, too. He’s nerdy, and I have zero doubt that outside the confines of this game, he’s a stellar individual, as opposed to a certain 44-year-old bar manager. Just a hunch. Nevertheless, Eric’s true game colors have come out this week, and you guys pummeled him deservedly.

He’s desperate. He’s lied. He’s spread secrets. It’s so obvious, too.

However, Dustin, Jameka and Jessica need Eric to be able to compete with Dick and Daniele and any possible friendships they might make. So, their effort to save Eric and their success, should they be successful, will likely be rewarded by a week of lapdogdom from the 27-year-old New Yorker.

Finally, I would submit to you that the Nerd Herd needs Eric more than Dick and Daniele need Kail. While there’s always the chance of a vote or two shifting on something insignificant like a mean word said during a croquet game or a fart in the shower, there is a recognition on the part of Dustin, Jessica, Amber and Jameka that they had better wage war with Dick and Daniele now while the wagin’ is good or be slain in their path.

They need Eric to do that. They need the vote, and Eric clearly gets under Dick’s skin.

For your enjoyment, a little game discussion Tuesday night between Dustin and Jessica.

Oops, Let Me Try This Again

by soonerryan on August 6, 2007

I’m not sure why I mentioned Daniele’s vote in the last post. I must be tired. Anyway, thanks to Jer295 for pointing it out correctly.

Kail has Dick and Jen.

Eric has Jameka, Jessica, Amber and probably Dustin, although I think he could be the deciding vote. And I completely forgot about Zach, who is torn between somebody who betrayed him (Kail) and somebody who doesn’t give him the time of day (Eric). Zach has said that he was prone to voting out a female this week to even things up a bit.

Things look even better for Eric. Still a long time to go, but I’m feeling better now. I just hope that if Eric survives that Big Brother will end the America’s Player charade.

Wait A Sec! Might Eric Be Totally Safe?

by soonerryan on August 6, 2007

I just spent 20 minutes on the live feeds, and Amber has made it clear that even though Eric supposedly spread some information about her and her pregnancies that she plans to keep Eric this week. She’s vowed to it.

A bit of research I’ve done indicates Jameka has done the same thing, given her word to keep Eric this week. Furthermore, in a conversation with Jessica, the cartoonish Jessica acknowledges that she and Jameka need Eric right now.

That’s three right there. All Eric needs is four, but it’s clearly not a given.

See, Kail has a solid three — Dick, Daniele and Jen.

So, supposing the words of the other houseguests as of Monday night 7:41 BBT are on the up and up, and this season hasn’t produced any voting stunners, Dustin is the deciding vote. Most BB writers speculate that Dustin, right now, needs Kail more than we’d think. However, he’s been the real leak of information to her the past couple of weeks, meaning that her demise might be for the best.

I said it last week and was wrong; This week will be the most compelling vote of the year to date in terms of drama.

If I may be able to flip-flop a billion times between now and Thursday, I think keeping Eric will actually make for better television because, at that point, war will have been declared. On one side, you’ll have the most capable players to date — Dick, Daniele and (gasp) Jen. On the other, you’ll have Dustin, Amber, Eric, Jessica and Jameka with Zach left twisting in the wind.

P.S., A note to Big Brother: If Eric survives and war is declared and things get really exciting again, will you pretty please serve these people some booze so I can get some great live clips to post for everybody!?

Argh! Eric’s On The Block

by soonerryan on August 6, 2007

No surprise. Daniele put Eric on the block for his perceived house crimes, and Eric is all but assured of going home. Unfortunately.

As much as Eric loves this game, as well as he has played so far, a darned plane banner will be his downfall, and there is no recourse or relief from Big Brother. I don’t buy for a second that Daniele or Dick would have figured Eric out if it hadn’t been for the banner — neither are cerebral enough to deduce too much correctly.

However, they are aggressive enough to make what knowledge they can muster pay off for them, and that my friends is the essence of this game. Big Brother winners have to twist the sword while the killing’s good, and to let a good player like Eric escape from this would be a big mistake.

Kail is totally beatable. This is a no-brainer for the houseguests. They must vote Eric out.

Earlier today, TMZ reported that Big Brother issued cease-and-desist orders to a company that flies planes over the house. However, contrary to what I thought at the time, their cease-and-desist orders pertained to a FUTURE flight in which the pilot in question was going to reveal Eric’s status as America’s Player to the rest of the house — essentially Eric’s only chance to survive.

Do it. Do it. I triple-dog dare you. Have some cahones. No court in their right mind would give the producers’ case the time of day. Go. Go. Go. Go! Go! Go!

I’ll say it, and it matters not to me what the rest of the Big Brother population thinks: Eric has been cheated. Regardless of his deceptiveness, regardless of the deceptiveness of anybody else, and regardless of anything — the gist of this game is that it’s all supposed to happen within the confines of the house, with no outside influence.

However, this isn’t the first time it’s happened, and it won’t be the last. To be honest, it wouldn’t be good reality television if there weren’t a big to-do to get us all fired up, right?

Banner Pilot Told To ‘Cease-And-Desist’

by soonerryan on August 6, 2007

It’s probably too late, but according to TMZ.com, the pilot who flew banners above the Big Brother house last week — all but giving away Eric’s position — has been ordered to stop.

According to the article, the pilot was actually on the ins with the BB producers, but his position is merely that he was paid to do a job. Nevertheless, I’m glad Big Brother realizes just how damaging this is to this year’s game. Look, you can hate Dick, love Dick, whatever. You can hate Eric, love Eric, whatever.

But half the fun in having a twist is protecting the integrity of the twist insomuch that it should never be given away. Furthermore, the beauty of the Big Brother house is that these folks are basically trapped away from civilization. If somebody can fly a banner above the house giving away parts of the game, then why shouldn’t the rest of us try to make communications somehow.

Honestly, an element that gets America involved at a more functional level could be interesting in future seasons, supposing there are future seasons. What we know is this: Big Brother is pissed about the banners, but Eric (America’s Player) is likely done because of it. And while Dick’s rantings have been a source of enjoyment for many, Big Brother hopefully has something else up its sleeve for this season.

My suggestion: Big Brother should give Eric a one-week reprieve from eviction, spilling the beans to the rest of the house about the twist. Everybody will have a good laugh, and then Eric can compete on his own. Some of the houseguests won’t care, strategically, but it’s probably the right thing to do.

Second suggestion: Force evel Dick to be America’s Player upon eviction. I almost like this one better.

Do YOU have any suggestions? Post ’em!

Many of you have commented on how boring the Big Brother house has been the past week, even though Friday and Saturday have been quite interesting. This is the point in the game, annually, in which I think dynamics start to change. Even if players aren’t thinking end-game just yet, the strong, sticky alliances — the ones that will last through the heart of the season — have yet to be made.

With that said, some big changes in my weekly Big Brother 8 rankings:

10. Zach (10).
Well, the first entry this week isn’t much of a change. But while Zach has done nothing to improve his position, the decline and fall of other players could serve to eventually make Mr. Dolphin Crash formidable. Just not yet.

9. Eric (5).
The bullets Eric dodged last week have grazed him this week. Whether these wounds prove fatal shall be seen over the next three days. Many of you out there call Eric the most deceptive player in this year’s game, but I’ll remind you that he’s working at our behest. I still say: Cut him some slack because if he’s gone, our role in this is pretty much cut (outside of those of you with planes flying banners over the house).

8. Amber (4).
She’s Ms. Waterworks, crying more than Tammy Faye on those old PTL broadcasts. To some, it shows some sensitivity, but to others, it’s a dire sign of weakness. If Eric has been uber-deceptive, what has Amber been? She really, really reminds me of Erica, but she doesn’t have a showmance, and even her ties to the LNC weren’t that strong.

7. Kail (9).
Kail will be on the chopping block come Thursday AGAIN, and she can’t compete in the HoH for the next five weeks. Yet, she survives. This Thursday will present the other houseguests with their best opportunity to eliminate her, but will they? The Oregon native has turned into one of Big Brother’s most successful pawns, and a couple more weeks of pawn survival could make her legendary.

6. Dustin (1).
It’s not a giant fall from grace for Joe’s ex-boyfriend, but Dustin did himself no favors in last week’s PoV competition. Furtheremore, like Eric, he’s not afraid to stand up to evel Dick. Dustin’s ability in this game will eventually make him a viable back-door candidate.

5. Jessica (6).
Love Jessica. She’s sweet, adorable and, frankly, hot, even if her voice sounds like a cartoon character’s. Nevertheless, she is playing both sides with success, being serious when she needs to be and light on her feet at other times. If she can prove her abilities in future HoH or PoV competitions, she could stick around to the Final 4. However, Jessica has consistently been the second-worst competitor in these things to date, right in front of Zach.

4. Jameka (7).
Jameka’s faith has carried her thus far, and she claims that the Big Brother 8 winner is already preordained by God. But could it be her? She hasn’t made too many enemies after lifting the nomination noose from Jen’s neck last week, and other houseguests have so far respected her decision to stick by her word. I don’t expect it to last, but notice should be served that Jameka is definitely a player.

3. Jen (10).
Like it or not, Jen is a player. She is nominated time and time again and is able, whether it be through manipulation or otherwise, to save herself. Now, she has a loose alliance going with Dick and Daniele, and in true Chilltown fashion, she acts like it doesn’t bug her or phase her one bit, as if she’s not here to win. More and more, Jen is looking like a brilliant player, yet she’s polarizing enough that she could go anytime. Nevertheless, her stock is way up this week.

2. Daniele (2).
She’s sweet, deceptive and she’s got Dick by her side. But is she pulling the strings or is her father? Daniele is more than capable enough in house competitions to keep a position of power week-to-week, and that combined with no chance she’ll ever be targeted by Dick is enough to make her a real threat to win.

3. Dick (1).
I’ll be real here. In real life, there is no chance I’d give Dick the time of day. He’s a villain through and through, on this show, and I suspect elswhere. Not that I wouldn’t have a beer with the guy, but I doubt I could ever be the man’s friend for a moment.

However, he has so far been a master player, and this Big Brother house is his. It’s his world, and the rest of these guys are just living in it. He’s the dictator, the master, and with his competition-winning daughter by his side, he is the show’s most formidable player.

While he prides himself on being open and calling BS as he sees it, he has been a master manipulator behind the scenes, and his ability to make it seem like his manipulation is nothing more than calling a spade a spade makes Dick Donato the best player going right now. He’s the best player. He’s the best television. He is outright a Big Brother star and, frankly, a reality-show legend in the making.

If you have a comment on my rankings or a list of your own, please post it. Heck, I’d love to feature your Big Brother rankings in one of my posts this week or next!

Jen Works Her Magic; Eric Likely Nominee

by soonerryan on August 5, 2007

Quick update from the Big Brother house …

Jen has truly become the Janelle of BB8, winning the PoV this week and earning her safety for another week. And in a move of delectable deceit, she has entered a pact with evel Dick and Daniele. Now, I don’t think it’s a pact so tight it could be called an alliance, but it’s clear the house dynamics are changing, and it’s clear that Dick and Daniele recognize the player that Jen apparently is — formidable.

As far as the PoV itself, it was a contest in which the houseguests had to give up things along the way. I believe Kail has lost the ability to play for HoH for like the next five weeks, and rumor has it that Jen has given up half the eventual prize money should she win.

Some of the houseguests were “sentenced” to wear bunny suits, and others have been put on slop for the rest of the game. However, the big talk after this week’s PoV was still Eric.

He’s going to be nominated in Jen’s place come Monday.

While I greatly empathize with Eric given that he’s OUR player, America’s Player, I recognize that he’s got to cover some tracks. There was the big argument with Dick on Friday, and since then, it seems the LNC has dissolved.

Dustin, Jameka and Eric are still close, and while you’d think Jessica would be in on that group, she’s really balanced between them and Dick’s group. Finally, Amber hasn’t been a major player in these discussions recently.

However, it’s not looking as bad for Eric this week as it did for Nick last week. First, he seems to have Dustin and Jameka’s support, and I bet that can translate to Amber and Jessica. Sure, if Daniele could vote to evict her showmance, then so could Jessica — but Eric made a solid argument on Saturday that if he should lose a test of character to evel Dick then he should reexamine himself as a person.

Fair enough in real life, but this is the Big Brother house, and while Dick’s deception has been mostly in the open, Eric has deceived as well. The point could be made though that Dick has made his first really deceptive move by aligning himself and his daughter with Jen, if even loosely.

Bottom line: It looks like Eric has the votes right now. Furthermore, according to a conversation between Dustin and Eric on Sunday, Eric will lay it all out on the line if nominated at the PoV ceremony by saying, “You don’t have the votes, and you (Daniele) and Dick have dug your collective graves,” adding to Dustin that he hopes it can fit the both of them so they can continue their “little family reunion” there.

Nevertheless, there is a lot of game to be played between now and Monday. It’s funny from my perspective in that Jen and Kail have survived and survived and survived, while Zach — whom everybody seems to dislike personally — has skated without even a nomination. It could be, and I’m merely hypothesizing, that BB8 could be won again by those who can stay under the radar the longest, ergo Zach, Jameka or Jessica.

Right now, if Eric were to be nominated, the only votes to evict him would come from Dick and Jen. Eric would get Dustin, Amber, Jessica, Jameka and Zach. The problem for Dick is that unless he can work his Dick magic and put so much heat on Eric that the rest of the houseguests feel obligated to evict him, Dick had better hope he gets HoH — otherwise, he’s a shoo-in to be nominated.

My gut hunch though says this is Dick’s house right now, and that still means big trouble for Eric. Let’s see whether a new, stronger, bigger-than-Dick alliance can stick together long enough to make Thursday’s vote a real surprise.

Nominations Made; Big, Big Trouble For Eric!

by soonerryan on August 4, 2007

There is big, big trouble tonight for America’s Player.

Thanks to planes flying banners (speculation), evel Dick figures out that Eric was the second vote against the LNC each of the last two weeks. Of course, Eric was merely following the orders given to him by America.

In one video posted below, the Dick at Night show is back, and Dick rants about realizing Eric’s disloyalty to the group. He talks with Jessica, who states (hopefully feigning) her state of furiosity with her supposed friend.

Then in another video posted below, Dick blows up at Eric — and for the first time all season, somebody stands up to the evel Dickmeister.

Eric says, “Don’t ever yell at me again!”

“I’ll yell at you as much as I f***** want,” Dick said.

“And you’ll be marching your way out the f****** door,” Eric responded.

“OK, you gonna do it?” Dick asked.

Wow, I sure hope Big Brother has a grand consolation prize for the 27-year-old New Yorker who, by all accounts, seems like a terrific guy because, yo, they have screwed him something fierce if those banners gave away his situation.

My understanding is that banners flew in reading something about Eric being a liar. Not sure, but Big Brother has instructed houseguests not to look up at them. My question is this: Where are the banners to counter this? Perhaps a banner can fly by giving away Eric’s America’s Player secret to give him a second chance here.

I gotta tell you. This has me a tad upset, well, as far as one can get upset at a reality show. It’s not like it’s life or death, but Dick’s control of the house emotions and his grip on the discourse among its houseguests is downright tyrannic. Dick is quickly becoming my Big Brother nemesis.

No surprise, but Daniele nominated Jen and Kail. It was so obvious who she’d pick that, according to a conversation between Daniele and Dustin at about 11:10 BBT Friday night, everybody in the house laughed as the nominations were being doled out.

According to that same conversation, Daniele said that if Jen or Kail were removed from the block that she would likely nominate Zach. However, we all know how that went last week. Then Daniele noted her intention to help evict a woman from the house, given that men have gone the past three weeks.

Things are not bright for Eric right now, particularly because he is in Dick’s crosshairs. My secret, double-secret hope is that he can lure Dick into doing something extremely stupid, resulting in his dismissal by Big Brother.

What Eric has not done is run to Kail or Jen or anybody outside the LNC to begin negotiations. In fact, his discussion with Dick was still quite logical from his perspective. And it’s not that I ever thought America’s Player would survive a competition like this, but I — and I think many of you — have gotten to the point where Dick’s tyranny and meanspiritedness have gone past competition into something more unsettling.

PoV is set for Saturday, and Jameka is again playing. I bet she doesn’t play so hard this time, and I am really hoping that none of the nominees comes off, if only to save Eric to do battle for a week or two more. Hey, if he’s the one guy who will stand up to Dick, then I hope he’s in the house long enough to make Dick even more insane than he already is.

Last night during the HoH competition, Dick said that America cheered from coast-to-coast when he poured tea on Jen’s head.

I think he’s got that wrong. Yet I think America and the Big Brother public will cheer collectively when this turd gets what’s coming to him. In the meantime, let’s hire a skywriter to blow the entire whistle on this America’s Player “twist” to get it all out into the open.

Kidding. But, watch the videos and let me know what you think. Does this make you as crazy as it makes me? Dr. Will was a suave gameplayer, a manipulater who made you feel great as he turned the knife into your back. While Dick was perfectly cast for this house and this show, he’s not somebody I — as a fan — can root for under any circumstance any longer.

He might be keepin’ it real, but in this case even an evel Dick is still just a dick.
