Hi y’all:

Right now, there’s really not much new to report about what’s going on in the Big Brother house.

Caleb is still stalking (and yes, it is stalking — let’s call it what it is) Amber and quite frankly, he is really creeping me out.  While it’s easy to joke about Caleb’s obsession (much as how it was easy to joke about Gina Marie and Nick), if you actually listen to what Caleb is saying and how he’s saying it, it all becomes less and less funny.  Ever since Amber told Caleb that she wasn’t interested in him, Caleb has alternated between saying that she’s not good enough for him to and claiming that she actually is interested in him but just isn’t admitting it.

There are some people on twitter who are convinced that Amber must have led Caleb on at some point.  The only thing that I’ve seen Amber do is be polite to a guy who has apparently decided that he’s entitled to her.  From what I’ve seen, Amber has handled the situation about as well as anyone has any right to expect her to.  Caleb is the one who refuses to take a hint.  If I was Amber and I won HoH, I would honestly put Caleb up for eviction just to get rid of him.  My biggest fear would be ending up in the final two with him and knowing that it would only be him and me in the house together.

Honestly, watching Caleb and listening to him, it’s hard not to feel that he’s only a few days away from snapping and getting kicked out of the house, in order to protect the other houseguests.

As for which of Caleb’s nominees is going to evicted on Thursday — well, we all know that it’s going to be Joey and the vote is going to be unanimous.  Joey has been trying to campaign and, watching her speak to the other houseguests, it’s hard not to feel that Joey has no idea how to talk to people who are outside of her usual social circle. If the Big Brother house was exclusively populated by political activists from Seattle, Joey would probably do a lot better.  But, instead, she’s having to deal with people who are from all over the country and who have different beliefs than she does and its obvious that Joey is not really comfortable with any of them.  That awkwardness comes through whenever she’s talking one-on-one with the other houseguests and it’s probably one of the major reasons why Caleb felt so comfortable about nominating her in the first place.

What’s interesting is that, with the exception of Caleb and maybe Devin, none of the other houseguests seems to really be that enthusiastic about voting Joey out of the house.  If anything, they seem to be indifferent towards both Joey and Paola.  They all seem to be planning on voting for Joey because that’s what Caleb has said that he wants but, otherwise, they seem to be indifferent to both Joey and Paola.  Hardly anybody seems to really have any desire to see Joey go but, at the same time, nobody really seems to feel as if they’ll miss her company if she’s voted out.

And it makes sense.  By revealing the existence of Cuatro and then calling that stupid house meeting to try to pressure Caleb into nominating Devin, Joey has shown that she would be a fairly useless ally.  By proving herself to be incapable of both spelling and swinging, Paola has revealed herself to be one of those non-threatening players who can probably be voted out at any point during the game.

For the most part, the other houseguests just seem to be happy that they’re not the ones nominated, which makes a lot of sense.

Anyway, despite the fact that nothing unexpected is happening in the house right now, we’ve still got a new episode of Big Brother to look forward to on Wednesday night!  In this episode, we’ll finally get to see the veto comp.  Apparently, it was a spelling comp and Paola is just as bad at spelling as she was at swinging.  I personally can’t wait to see it!

Hopefully, we’ll also get to see both the “house meeting” where Joey ordered everyone to talk to Caleb about who they wanted to see nominated and the Veto Ceremony.  Of course, we already know that Joey was put up in Donny’s place but I’m still curious to see what was said at the ceremony.  What excuse did Caleb give for nominating her and, even more importantly, how did Joey take the news?

Until then,

Lisa Marie

P.S. Have you voted in BBBlogger’s new poll yet!?  If not, it’s right over there and on the right side of the screen! –>>>>>

Big Brother 16 — Secrets Revealed

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 1, 2014

Hi y’all!

Well, two secrets have been revealed!

Earlier on Monday, Joey — who, despite having said that she had accepted the fact that she was inevitably on the verge of being voted out — proved that she hasn’t given up yet by trying to use the only piece of leverage that she has left.  In a conversation with Hayden, she kind of  sort of revealed the existence of Team America.  Here’s a transcript of the conversation:

Joey: I have something, that if I’m able to stay, I can really help people out.

Hayden: What?

Joey: I can’t say what it is.   If I say, I won’t, I won’t be able to do it.

Hayden: I don’t really get that.

Joey: Alright, so I’m promising you right now, I will fight for you in this house if I stay here. I will keep your ass safe for 3 weeks if you keep me in here. I’m a better competitor. I can win.

Hayden: Uh-huh.

Joey: I was voted  America’s Favorite.

Hayden: What does that do though? Like what’s your? What do you get to do with that? Do you know?

Joey: That’s the thing. This stays between you and I. You promise? You have to  promise!

Hayden: Yeah, absolutely. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to say. Either way I won’t say anything. Just marinate on it.

Joey: If I don’t stay though, I can’t, I can’t win it and I can’t share it. It literally starts after this Thursday.  So I really need to stay in the house. But that’s something I have that I can offer to people.

Hayden told Joey that she should tell the others that she might have this power and then he promised to keep their conversation just between the two of them.

So, technically, Joey did not reveal the existence of Team America.  She just revealed that she had received the most votes from America and she implied that she now has secret powers.  (And, I have to admit that when Joey said she was going to have these undefined powers, I couldn’t help but think about poor Lawon going, “I think I’m going to reenter the house with special powers!” right before he told asked everyone to evict him.)  She also blatantly lied about not being able to reveal the details of her powers.  She told Hayden that she couldn’t reveal the details but, when she first found out that she had been selected for Team America, she was told that she could tell everyone in the house about Team America if she wanted to.  I wonder if it’s going to occur to Hayden that, if Joey was telling him the truth, then that means she would no longer have those special powers because she told Hayden about them.

Still, I can’t necessarily fault Joey for trying.  At this point, being a member of Team America is literally the only advantage she has and it would be foolish for her not to use it.  However, I think it would have been smarter of Joey to explain that America is going to be electing other houseguests to Team America and to perhaps imply that, by voting her out, that would prevent everyone else in the house from ever having a chance to get on Team America themselves.  By saying that she was “America’s Favorite Player,” all she’s doing is bringing up memories of how powerful Elissa was during the first few weeks of BB15.

(Then again, Joey never watched Big Brother before entering the house so it’s doubtful that she knows about Elissa or BB15’s fiasco of a twist.)

And that’s bring us to an interesting question: when was the last time that a Big Brother twist didn’t turn out to be a fiasco?  Obviously, the Big Brother producers are trying to keep the show interesting but, all too often, the twists often seem to just get in the way of people playing the game.  At their worst, the twists often lead to Houseguests being unfairly penalized and they provide fuel for those who claim that every single season of Big Brother is fixed and specifically designed to make sure that a pre-determined houseguest wins.

To be honest, I think its time to retire the “Expect the Unexpected” motto.  I think just the fact that Donny, Jocasta, Caleb, Frankie, and Paola are all living under the same roof for three months is unexpected enough without trying to drag Team America into it.

But anyway…

The other big secret that was revealed was one that really wasn’t that much of a secret.  Caleb told Amber how he felt about her.  Amber replied that Caleb was her friend.  Caleb, of course, decided that Amber only said that because she’s on national television and doesn’t want to pursue a relationship with the entire country watching.  Amber, meanwhile, told Christine that she would be open to voting Caleb out of the house.

Before I end this post, I just want to say thank you to everyone who left comments under the previous post.  Since I wasn’t able to watch any of the live feeds during the day on Monday (which is traditionally the busiest day of my week), your comments pretty much allowed me to keep up with what was going on in the house.  I’m going to repost two of JT’s comments here to let you know exactly what also happened between Caleb and Brittany on Monday:

Now Caleb is telling Brittany that she needs to vote out Joey or she will be the next target. He says this vote needs to be unanimous (NO.. it doesn’t!). He also said she would be the only one to vote against the house (hmm).

Caleb also told Brittany what Joey said after she was named as re-nom. “You just made the biggest mistake of your life”. Take that with a grain of salt.. that is what Caleb claims she said. This is the same Caleb who knows Amber is in love with him. Reading people & judgment might not be his strong suits.

And then:

Caleb to Brittany:
“You’re smart.. you’re 29 years old.. you got kids.. I think you’re smart enough to make the right decision”. I was waiting for, “I’m gonna make you an offer you can’t refuse” (I didn’t see a horse’s head in the HOH bed though).

Not sure at this point if Caleb is Vito…… or Fredo?

In answer to that question, Caleb is Fredo but he thinks that he’s Sonny.

Buonanotte,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 16 — So that’s how it happened!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 30, 2014

Hi, y’all!

Well, it’s another late night here and I’m running a little bit late in updating this blog.  Fortunately, if you’ve been following along with the comments under the previous post then you already know what happened in the house today and what was shown on Sunday’s episode of Big Brother.  I’m going to do a  quick recap here and then I’ll mention a few things that I noticed during Sunday’s show and then I’ll turn it over to you, the wonderful comment-makers of the Big Brother Blog!

So, the big Sunday event was the veto meeting and you can probably guess what happened.  Just as everyone knew he would, Donny took himself off the block.  And, as we all knew would happen, Caleb ended up nominating Joey in his place.  Now, a lot of us were expecting Joey to blow up once she was actually nominated but it doesn’t appear to have happened.

Or, at the very least, it hasn’t happened yet.  If you’ve been watching Big Brother long enough, you know that there’s often a certain pattern of behavior that a houseguest will go through after he or she discovers that there’s a good chance that she’s going to be nominated.

First, there’s the anger that comes from knowing that people are plotting against you.  I think we saw some of Joey’s anger last night.

Then there’s the time — which usually comes right after the nomination is announced — that the houseguest will start trying to bargain.  We saw some of that tonight when Joey started to try to convince Caleb that he should tell everyone to vote Pow Pow out of the house.  Joey, unfortunately, isn’t very good at bargaining.  For one thing, whenever Caleb would try to speak, Joey would cut him off and ramble for a bit.  Joey either doesn’t understand that this is the time when she needs to start kissing up to her fellow houseguests.  (Or else she does understand but she simply doesn’t know how to do it.  Some people are better at sucking up than others.)

Finally, there comes a point where the houseguest says that they’ve accepted the fact that they’re going home.  Earlier tonight, Joey said that she was just going to concentrate on having a good final four days in the house.

But, as we all know, that acceptance is usually short-lived.  Joey may not have exploded yet (and she might think, as a member of Team America, that she will be protected by production) but that doesn’t mean she’s not going to.  In fact, after seeing the latest episode of Big Brother, a lot of us are hoping that Joey will explode and tell everyone off because the Bomb Squad has quickly become way too entitled for their own good.

If I was on Big Brother and I knew that I was going home no matter what, I would be sure to tick some people off before I left.  One thing I would not do would be to shrug and say, “Oh well, no hard feelings.”  When you’re dealing with a group like the Bomb Squad (which, as we saw tonight’s episode, appears to be founded on Caleb’s belief that no woman could possibly be smarter than him), how can you not leave without trying to make their lives just a little bit uncomfortable?

But, the last time I checked the Live Feeds, everyone was in the backyard and Frankie was entertaining them by pretending to be a cockney named Rhinestone Someting-or–Another.  To a certain extent, I like Frankie because I do think he’s playing to win and I think that a lot of his more flamboyant behavior is his way to keep people from viewing him as being too much of a threat.  That’s a smart move on his part.  On the other hand, I would probably lose my mind if I actually had to live with someone who simply cannot handle not being the center of attention for every single minute of the day.

Finally, here’s a few thoughts on Sunday’s episode.  For the most part, I thought it was a pretty good and fun episode.  There really weren’t any surprises because we already knew about the Bomb Squad and who was going to be nominated and who was going to win the Battle of Block.  But, it was still interesting to see how it all came about.  I’m assuming that there’s probably a lot of stuff that happened that they didn’t have time to put into the episode — for instance, we didn’t see any hints of Caleb’s obsession with Amber.  We also didn’t see Joey tell anyone about Cuatro and we didn’t get any hints that Zach and Frankie would become besties.  Maybe they’ll deal with all of that during the next episode.

But here’s a few observations about what we did see:

1) What did you guys think of the new opening credits?  I enjoyed them.  After what went on Big Brother 15, I think anything this season can do to distinguish itself as being different is a good thing.

2) It was interesting to see Caleb and Frankie selecting the eggs to determine the order in which they would make their nominations  and I was glad that they clarified how the nominating process works now.

3) What did you guys think of the new way that they handled the nomination ceremony?  Instead of having everyone pull out one key after another, Frankie and Caleb simply turned their four keys and revealed who had been nominated.  I know that this was probably done so that there would be time to show both the ceremony and the Battle of the Block but I still think it’s a smart move on the part of the producers and I hope they stick with it.  It’s good to change things up and it’s hard to deny that, in previous seasons, the nomination ceremonies would often feel rather draggy and drawn-out.

4) Devin sure is an idiot, isn’t he?  Probably the funniest part of the episode was watching the other members of the Bomb Squad reacting to Devin and wondering what they had gotten themselves into.

5) So apparently, Devin turned on Donny because he heard Donny making a joke and apparently believes that a mere groundskeeper wouldn’t be capable of … well, look, it doesn’t really matter.  Devin’s an idiot.

6) Speaking of Devin, does anyone else suspect that he might actually be a cyborg from the future who was sent to the past to keep Donny from winning Big Brother and revealing the truth about Skynet?  I will give Devin this — he was cracking me up during the whole time that he was approaching the other members of his alliance and going, “We.  Are.  Now.  EIGHT.”

7) The Bomb Squad is no Brigade, no matter what those boys keep telling themselves.  For one thing, how are you going to manage an alliance of EIGHT people?  Even Team America was supposed to only have three players!  I imagine that Enzo was probably sitting at home, watching them and laughing and going, “Meow meow” through the entire episode.

8) In the past, I’ve been pretty critical of some of the competitions that Big Brother comes up with but I have to hand it to them — the Battle of the Block was great!  I have to admit that I am in love the 1920s and that’s one reason why I enjoyed the comp.  But beyond that, it was fun to watch, the rules made sense, and it was a competition that any one could have won.  (Unless, of course, your partner is Paola.  But let’s give Donny some credit because he handled a terrible situation with a lot of humor and grace.)

Anyway, I think that’s it for now!

Monday, incidentally, is my busiest day and, in between working at my day job and helping to teach dance at night, I probably won’t be online or really able to check the live feeds until pretty late in the day.  So, have fun in the comments and I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say when I finally get home tomorrow.

Bonne nuit,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 16 — Joey Self-Destructs

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 29, 2014

First off, allow me to apologize.  Due to circumstances out of my control, I am posting this a lot later than I was planning to.  However, I did want to make sure to let you guys know what happened in the house on Saturday before the P.O.V. ceremony is held and before they broadcast Sunday’s show.

On the one hand, it can be argued that what happened on Saturday was a minor but stupid made by a houseguest who obviously doesn’t understand the game that she’s playing.

On the other hand, it could be argued that what happened on Saturday was the first important event of the game because, unless something major happens, it pretty much sealed in stone who is going to be evicted on Wednesday and, therefore, be the first person to leave the house.

Basically, what happened is that Joey — the blue-haired makeup artist who has been declared America’s favorite and who is the first member of the twist that nobody asked for, Team America — well, Joey basically screwed up big time.  What makes it even sadder is that Joey doesn’t seem to realize just how much she screwed up.

The day started out relatively quiet.  Devin was sad because he was missing his child’s birthday and, perhaps because of that, he was a little less in-everyone’s-face today.  Almost the entire day was spent with personal talk but relatively little game talk, which is amazing considering that Donny has the PoV and is going to be taking himself off the block.  Frankie and Zach, of course, spent the entire day talking to each other about how they’re going to get to the final two.  But otherwise, it appeared that the whole day would be about people relaxing in the back yard and Caleb stalking Amber.

That all changed, though, once Zach started talking to Joey.  Caleb has told everyone in his alliance that, after Donny uses the veto, he’s going to put Joey up in his place.  However, he’s also told Joey that he will nominate whoever the majority of the house wants him to nominate.  To those of us who have watched enough seasons of Big Brother to know, that’s the most obvious lie in the book.  However, Joey apparently believed him and also believed that this meant that Devin would be nominated instead of her.

Both Zach and Frankie have said to each other that they consider Devin to be a bigger threat.  They would rather that Caleb nominate Devin but, at the same time, they also know that Caleb’s not going to do that.  They both appear to fine with the idea of sending Joey home this week and then going after Donny again next week.

But Zach, in typical Iago-like fashion, had to cause trouble so he spent most of today planting seeds of doubt in Joey’s head and, essentially, telling her that she better make sure that everyone tells Caleb that they want him to nominate Devin.  Is Zach trying to get Devin nominated or is he just trying to make Joey look crazy?  Or is Zach just creating chaos for the sake of chaos?

Your guess is as good as mine.  Personally, I can’t wait to see what Zach says in the diary room.

Anyway, Joey listened to Zach and then did the stupidest possible thing.   She held a house meeting where she proceeded to ramble on for way too long and she essentially told everyone that they needed to go and tell Caleb who they wanted him to nominate.  This was a dumb move on her part for so many reasons — essentially, it revealed her to be the type of player who nobody would ever want to be allied with and it also showed that she does not understand that the majority of the house would probably vote for her to be the nominee.

Needless to say, if you’re tying to get out of being nominated by the head of household, the smart thing to do is to cut a deal with the HoH.  The dumb thing to do is call a house meeting and tell everyone that they have to go and save you.

So, in short, Joey is probably doomed, which is funny because it’s been fairly obvious — from the way she was used in the publicity leading up to the premiere of season 16 to the edit she got during the first two episodes — that Joey was something of a producer’s pet.  But, unless something really drastic happens between now and Wednesday, it would appear that Joey’s days in the Big Brother House are numbered.

And what does that mean for Team America?  I have no idea but we all know that Donny’s probably going to be the next member, right?

Big Brother 16 — Where to Begin?

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 27, 2014

Seriously, where do I even begin in telling you what’s been going on in the Big Brother House?

I’ll say one thing about these players — they all seem to be playing hard.  In fact, some of them (like Devin) might be playing a little too hard.  But, judging from what I’ve seen on the live feeds and what I’ve read online (and from what I’ve learned from reading JT’s comments — thanks, JT!), it would appear that all of the alliances that were made on the first day — Crazy 8, Cuatro, Double D — have been abandoned.  There was not a Brigade or a Friendship to be found among them.

Instead, there’s a new alliance that is currently in charge of the house.  That alliance is called the Bomb Squad  (Bleh!  Boring name!)  and it appears to be based largely on testosterone.  The Bomb Squad is made up of Caleb, Frankie, Devin, Cody, Derrick, Zach, Amber, and Christine.  Zach and Frankie also have a final two deal.  Nicole and Christine, meanwhile, are bonding over the fact that they share a bed and both wear glasses.  Meanwhile, Victoria, Brittany, Jocasta, Donny, Paola, and Hayden are without an official alliance though I’m sure they’ll end up bonding together by default.  (Outsiders have to stick together!)  Finally, Joey is a member of Team America, which is currently an alliance of one though she’s scheduled to get two partners once America is finished voting.

(Thank you to Lostie, who posted a great graphic under the previous post, without which I probably wouldn’t have been able to keep all of that straight!)

Since the live feeds have only been available for two days, there’s still a lot of questions about what happened in the house during the time between the initial move in and Thursday night’s premiere of Big Brother After Dark.

Here’s what we do know:

1) Joey, of all people, apparently told everyone about the existence of Cuatro.  As a result, Cuatro no longer exists and the Bomb Squad (especially Devin) does not trust Joey.

2) Paola and Victoria have both gotten a reputation for being abrasive.  I can see that happening with Paola but I think everyone needs to stop hating on Victoria (mostly because Victoria reminds me of my best friend Evelyn, who is like a fourth sister to me).

3) Hayden and Nicole have a showmance going on. Personally, I thought she was going to get together with Cody but I guess Nicole likes Hayden’s stoner vibe.  (And, to be honest, Nicole is not alone.  I’d probably let Hayden come chasing after me as well.)

4) Caleb is insanely in love with Amber, to the extent that some people online are comparing him to Gina Marie.  Amber is open to a showmance but might not be really aware that Caleb is apparently planning their wedding.  I find myself wondering what will happen if Amber is voted out before Caleb.  Will Caleb pull a Gina Marie and spend an entire night crying and screaming her name throughout the house?  Only time will tell but, as of today, Caleb has been telling Paola that he’s basically ready to tell Amber that he’s in love with her.  (Speaking from personal experience, there’s nothing more creepy and awkward then having some guy that you’ve known for five days declare himself to be in love with you.  Especially when that guy is someone who spends most of his time sitting around with an angry scowl on his face.)

5) Devin is freaking people out!  Apparently, he is way too intense for his own good.  Judging from some of the comments that have been made in the house, Devin apparently had a major blow up before the live feeds were turned on.  The women, in particular, don’t seem to feel safe around him.  However, Caleb likes him because they both enjoy working out.

6) Devin no longer likes Donny and spends a lot of time talking about how much he doesn’t like Donny.

7) Frankie is convinced that Donny is lying about being a groundskeeper and is frightened that Donny is actually a mad scientist of some sort.  (What Frankie doesn’t realize is that Donny might be both.)

8) Derrick is not telling everyone that he’s a cop, despite the fact that he totally looks like a cop, acts like a cop, and talks like a cop.  He’s telling people that he’s a groundskeeper.  When last I checked, Donny was asking Derrick about the specifics of his groundskeeping job.  Derrick was giving some good answers but still totally sounded like a cop.

9) Donny is still having a hard time remembering everyone’s name.

10) Hayden enjoys walking around naked and showing off his tattoo.

11) Zach is coming on very strong and aggressively and, to be honest, I keep expecting to see him snorting a line of coke in the storage room.  Seriously, the boy just needs to tone it down a level or two or twelve.

Now, as far as the nominations and the Battle of the Block and the POV are concerned it went something like this (and I have to give credit again to JT for helping me keep all of this straight):

Frankie nominated Brittany and Victoria for eviction.

Caleb nominated Paola and Donny.

At the Battle of the Block, Brittany and Victoria won. As a result, Brittany and Victoria came down off the block and Caleb became the sole HoH.

The Have-Nots (yes, the Have-Not thing is back again and so is Big Brother slop and BLEH — the whole Have-Not is always the least interesting part of the show for me) are: Brittany, Cody, Hayden, and Joey.

The POV players were: Caleb, Donny, Paola, Cody, Zach, and Victoria.  Jocasta and her bowtie hosted the competition.

The POV competition was the spelling comp, where the players had to dig around for letters and make words.

Donny won the POV!  This was a POV that Donny had to win because he was the target this week, on account of Frankie and Caleb being convinced that Donny is actually a mad scientist.

So, Donny will come off the block and it sounds like Caleb is planning on nominating Joey in his place.  The plan definitely seems to be backdoor Joey.  (Brittany did try to convince Caleb to nominate Devin, which was a probably a mistake on her part because now the Bomb Squad is going to view her as a potential threat…)  Which means that the whole Team America twist might start to fall apart before it even begins.

(As often seems to happen with Big Brother twists…)

Anyway, that’s it for now!  Donny is safe and Joey is most definitely not.

Paix et d’amour,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 16 Live Feeds for Free Contest

by BBBlogger on June 27, 2014

Hello Big Brother Blog faithful! Seems to me we are off to another great start here on the blog!

Lots of fun already starting and it looks like we are burning through comments with people learning how to BOLD, ITALICS and UNDERLINE. The most important things to know when commenting on blogs you know! :-p I love that most people have added a photo to their comments as well. (If you want to know how to, just click on the LINK on the Right titled how to add a picture to your comments on Big Brother Blog…it is all right there!)

So last week I said I was feeling generous and that I would reimburse someone who signed up for the Live Feeds and then emailed me their receipt. Let me tell you, I HATE having contests and then selecting someone to win. I always feel bad for people who do not win and I wish that I could give everyone a prize. Just my style and my personality type I guess!

I was worried about how many entries we would get…I was worried if people would just buy the feeds from another site and email me the receipt. So many things could have went wrong…well…I worried for nothing.

Turns out most of you had already purchased the feeds (thank you so so so very much!!) and I only had 3 entries in my little feed giveaway contest.

As I had said, BBBlogger is feeling generous…so I have decided that the 3 people who emailed me will all get reimbursed for their feeds this season! So Ted, Fran and Keri…you 3 are my official winners and all 3 of you will enjoy the summer of Big Brother 16 on the feeds with us for FREE! 🙂

I will be emailing you back this weekend to get things moving!

Thank you for being a part of our BLOG family and thank you for playing along with my game! 🙂

Now, a few more items to address.

This is a blog site. I honestly do not have time to monitor/read/deal with comments. I expect everyone to play nice and be adults (unless you are not an adult then just play nice!)

I do not like to censor people…I have for years been VERY LENIENT but please know that when talking about the house guests…be nice. Yes they may not be people we would hang out with or be friends with and yes they may not be someone who does nice things and we will judge away….but do not speak MEAN about them. That also goes for people on the blog. Online we feel like we are hidden and anonymous but the truth is we are all people and have lives and families and people who love us. We come here to relax and escape and enjoy each others company. We may never meet people on this blog but we still can have relationships and communicate and have fun. So with that being said, it is never okay to put down or purposely say something mean or derogatory toward someone. PERIOD. This is an always has been my expectation. Please contact me if you have any questions. I am easy to find @BBBlogger on Twitter, facebook at facebook.com/BigBrotherBlogger or just email me at RealityTVChat@gmail.com and we can talk. Cool? I truly love you all. You are why this blog still exists and why I keep it going…

So now that we are sitting in a circle singing kumbaya! 🙂 Let’s have fun and watch some Big Brother 16! Sound good? Go team!

Lastly, I am a single man this season and as a newly divorced man I am letting everyone know that the newly divorced Brittany is so my future squeeze. She does not know this yet but oh yes…I will meet her and it will be magical! (14 year age difference is not THAT BAD RIGHT?) All I know is wow!

Brittany…when you get out of the house..call me! 🙂

#love #BBBrittany #callmemaybe (even has BBB in her hashtag! It’s a sign!)

Sigh…I am going to go now…

Still feeling like Christie will win it all though. She will slide and get to the end and win…aka Ian and Andy! Thoughts? Discuss!

Peace, BBBlogger

PS: I am still working on a chat room. Should be done soon. PROMISE!!

Big Brother 16 — Premiere Recap Part Two (SPOILERS)

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 26, 2014

Hi, y’all!

Well, I just finished watching the 2nd part of the premiere of Big Brother 16!  Below is a very quick recap so, if you haven’t seen the show yet and don’t want any spoilers, stop reading now!

Okay, now that it’s just you and me:

So, tonight, we saw the 2nd group of 8 move in and needless to say, it was an awkward meeting between the two teams.  Everyone seemed to admire Caleb’s body but a few of them — like Frankie and Joey — were freaked out when Caleb said he was a “hunting guide.”  Zach got on Frankie’s nerves by making fun of where Frankie went to high school.  Paola attempted to flirt with Caleb and was instead shocked and disturbed to discover that all Caleb wanted to talk about was how competitive he is.  Donny amused everyone by making cricket noises.  Victoria and Frankie may have formed a tentative alliance.  Derrick and Brittany bonded over their kids…

And then it was time to compete for the second HoH!  The houseguests had to hold onto a gigantic, rotating spit.  All of the women fell early.  Derrick and Zach both threw the competition, letting go once all of the girls were gone.  (This would suggest that both Derrick and Zach are already paranoid about a possible all girls alliance.)  It came down to Hayden and Caleb and, in the end, Caleb was the one who hung on for the longest.  As Hayden put it, “Caleb is a beast!” and, based on that competition, he really is.  (However, I am predicting right now that his competition skills and his lack of social game will be Caleb’s downfall.)

Julie then explained how the double HoH twist works and it turns out that I was wrong on one key detail.  I thought that the house would be split up into two separate teams.  Nope, that’s not the case at all.

Instead, it works like this:

1) Each week, there will be two HoHs.

2) Both HoHs will nominate two players for eviction, for a total of four nominees.

3) In the Battle of the Block, the nominated players will compete. The nominated players who win the competition will come off the block and the HoH who nominated them will no longer be head of household and will be eligible to be nominated at the veto ceremony.

4) So, in case you were wondering, we will still have the Power of Veto competition and all that.  It will all take place after the Battle of the Block.

Julie did not mention anything about Have/Have-not competitions or anything like that so maybe the whole Have Not thing is going to be abandoned.  I certainly hope so because, quite frankly, I’m sick of having to listen to people talk about having to eat Big Brother slop.  The whole Have/Have-Not thing hasn’t really been that interesting for a couple of seasons now.

Finally, in our last twist of the night, we learned who has been voted as the first member of Team America.  Team America will be a three-person alliance who will do secret things in the house and get paid money for it.  (Basically, it’s just like America’s Player except now there’s three of them.)  Before the season began, we were asked to vote on which player we would most like to be in an alliance with.  Joey got the majority of the votes and so Joey is the first member of Team America.

(I was honestly excepting Frankie to get the most votes but I guess Ariana Grande’s fans did not turn out to vote for him.  It’ll be interesting to see if that changes over the upcoming weeks.)

As opposed to last night, the second group of houseguests did not get as much of a chance to make as much of an impression as the first group.  Here’s what I did take away from this latest group of players:

Brittany — As the newly single mom of three kids, Brittany has a reality TV-worthy backstory but otherwise, she didn’t really make much of an impression.  It was interesting to watch her and Derrick bond over missing their children but I don’t know if either one of them is really a strong enough player to make much of a potential alliance.

Caleb — Our second HoH!  Unless they somehow impact his game inside the house, I’m not going to talk about Caleb’s politics or anything he may have said online before he entered the house.  I’ll leave that for others, if they want to talk about it.  My only concern is what he does and says inside the house and so far, Caleb is shaping up to be a real threat when it comes to winning challenges.  At the same time, Caleb also came across as being overly aggressive and seemed rather cocky and it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s his downfall.  I have to wonder if Caleb is one of the players who had never seen Big Brother before entering the house because he really seems to be underestimating the importance of a good social game.  (On a personal note, I’m trying to be fair to Caleb, despite the fact that he was seen using Axe body spray before entering the house…)

Christine — I know the BBBlogger loves Christine so I’m going to choose my words carefully.  Christine seems like she’s very nice but she’s so calculated in her quirkiness, I would probably go crazy if I had to spend three months in a house with her.  For all of her attempts to come across as being the most interesting person in the world, Christine seemed to fade into the background once they entered the house.

Derrick — Even if I didn’t know that Derrick was a cop, I would be able to guess just from looking at him.  Otherwise, Derrick didn’t make much of an impression though I do think he made a smart move by throwing the HoH competition.

Hayden — Before Hayden came into the house, I dismissed him as being this season’s version of David, the first guy voted out during BB15.  But you know what?  I was wrong.  Hayden came across as being smart, likable, and strong competitor.  Fortunately for him, he’s not as cocky as Caleb so people probably won’t be threatened by the fact that he nearly won HoH.

Jocasta — I really don’t see Jocasta lasting very long.  As a minister, she’s going to make a lot of the other houseguests nervous. Personally, I could have done without having to listen to the gospel-themed muzak that Big Brother played whenever she was on screen, if just because I thought that it came across as being a bit condescending.

Victoria — Victoria is going to have a lot of haters but I like her because 1) she reminds me of my BFF and 2) we both own a lot of clothes.  Victoria’s head is obviously in the game but she was the first one to drop out of the HoH comp, despite the fact that she — as opposed to most of her fellow houseguests — was actually trying to win.  So, Victoria’s success will probably depend on whether or not she can find a strong alliance to keep her safe in the house.  She did immediately bond with Frankie and I think a Frankie-Joey-Victoria alliance would be a potentially strong one.

Zach — Yeah, Zach is pretty much doomed.  He said that his strategy is to lay low but, based on what I saw of him tonight, I don’t think Zach could lay low if his life depended on it.

So, what does everyone think of the second group of eight?  Who do you love?  Who do you hate?  Let us know in the comments!

Also, BBAD starts tonight and the live feeds should be open as well!

The game is on!

Peace & Love,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 16 — Premiere Recap Time (SPOILERS)

by Lisa Marie Bowman on June 26, 2014

Hi, everyone!

Well, it’s here!  Big Brother 16 has begun!  On Wednesday night, we watched the first part of the season premiere.  Our first team of 8 players moved into the house.  They immediately realized (or perhaps they had been told ahead of time, the show really wasn’t clear as far as this was concerned) that a second team of 8 would be moving into the house later.

So, they did the smart thing.  They all agreed to form an alliance against any other team that might enter the house.  They named themselves “The Crazy 8s.”

But, this being Big Brother, the members of the Crazy 8s immediately started forming side alliances.  Devin allied himself with Donny and they decided to call themselves “The Double Ds.”  It’ll be interesting to see how that works.  Devin and Donny don’t seem to have much in common but, as Devin pointed out, that’s exactly the point.  Nobody would expect him to work with Donny.

Meanwhile, the four girls decided to form an all girl alliance and decided to call themselves Cuatro.  “This is all about girl power,” Paola said.  I’m all about girl power too but traditionally, all girl alliances never seem to do as well on Big Brother as they do on Survivor.  I think some of that is because everyone on Survivor is too busy trying not to starve to get catty.  However, in Big Brother, there’s always a point where there is basically nothing to do but be catty.   Based on what I saw on Wednesday’s premiere, I’m having a hard time seeing Cuatro sticking together until the end.  Nicole seems like she’s more interested in a showmance than in celebrating girl power, Paola seems like she’ll be the type who is too easily insulted to remain a member of just one alliance for 3 whole months, Amber seems like too much of a pragmatist to stick with the alliance should it start to get dysfunctional, and Joey seems like she has already formed a stronger bond with Frankie than with anyone in Cuatro.

Anyway, Frankie won the first HoH competition, mostly because Amber decided to throw the comp.  After Frankie won, Julie announced that the second group of HGs would soon be arriving and that Frankie would not be the only HoH.

For the most part, I enjoyed the premiere.  If nothing else, the 8 houseguests that we met tonight all seemed to be nicer than last season’s group.

One of the things that I really did appreciate about the season 16  premiere is that we got to spend a little more time getting to know the players than we have in previous season premieres.  With only 8 players in the house, we got a chance to get some fairly detailed first impressions of everyone.  Here are my thoughts on how everyone came across.  Let me know if you agree or disagree in the comments!

Amber — I have to say that, out of everyone we saw on Wednesday night, Amber made the best impression on me.  Not only did she prove herself to be a strong and determined competitor during the HoH competition but she also made a smart decision by throwing the comp and allowing Frankie to get the big target on his back.  (If any of the men can be convinced to work with the all female alliance, it will probably be Frankie because of the bond that he and Joey apparently automatically developed.)  Amber may not have had the biggest (or loudest) personality in the house but — at this point, at least — it appears that she could be one of the strongest players.

Cody — Cody is hot!  I know it, you know it, everyone in the house knows it.  I hope Cody stays around for a nice, long while.  Beyond that, there’s really not that much to say about Cody.  In his questionnaire, Cody said that his strategy was basically just to go with the flow and that seems to be what he was doing during his first day in the house.  That’s probably a pretty good strategy.  That said, at the end of the episode, Cody seemed to be really struggling to understand the HoH Twist.  I mean, yeah — the twist is complicated but it’s not that complicated!  I get the feeling that Cody might not be the brightest guy in the house but when you look like that, how intelligent do you have to be?

Devin –– Devin started out on the wrong foot by insisting that he looks like the Rock.  Sorry, Devin — you’ve got a cute smile and I love your muscles but you are not Dwayne Johnson.  It’ll be interesting to see how his alliance with Donny works out.

Donny — I like Donny.  He seems like a really nice and sincere guy.  Will he be able to fit in with the rest of the house?  I think it’ll actually help Donny that he’s a bit older than the other houseguests.  If he plays his cards right, everyone will come to think of him as being a nice but eccentric uncle.  That said, his interesting Nicole has the potential to be kinda creepy.  We’ll have to wait and see.

Frankie — Our first HoH!  When I first saw Frankie, it was easy to dismiss him as only having been cast because he was Ariana Grande’s brother.   However, he really impressed me both during the HoH competition and when, after the comp, he immediately started strategizing on how not to be perceived as a threat.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Frankie/Joey alliance at some point in the near future.

Joey — I like Joey, mostly because she reminds me of my roommate during my first semester of college.  However, she seemed to fade into the background for a lot of Wednesday’s episode.  Also, I’m always a little bit skeptical of people who say that they’re making a political statement by appearing on a reality TV show.

Nicole — Obviously, the Big Brother producers are trying to set her up to be the new Jordan.  Every season of Big Brother, there’s one houseguest who describes herself as being a “country girl” and this season, it’s Nicole.  I have to admit that I’m always a hundred times more judgmental of the country girls because I’m a former country girl myself.

Paola — Pao Pao!  Judging from the reaction on twitter, people seem to either love or hate Paola.  And Paola did come on awfully strong but she didn’t bother me that much.  I wouldn’t necessarily want to be in an alliance with her because she seems like she might be too temperamental to be dependable but at least she seems certain to cause some drama in the house.  Add to that, I like the fact that, as a DJ, she’s a woman who is making a living in a traditionally male-dominated field.  (Plus, I’m a dancer so I always appreciate a good DJ.)  However, I’m not going to call her Pao Pao.  Sorry.

So, that was the first episode of Big Brother 16!  What did you guys think?  Any early favorites?  Any players that you’ve already decided that you just can’t stand?

As we all know, part two of the premiere will be on Thursday night and we’ll get to see the other group of 8 move into the house!

And finally, before I end this post, allow me to say how happy and excited I am to be back on this site and writing about Big Brother 16!  It should be a great season and, even if it isn’t, we can still make this a great blog!

Amicalement,

Lisa Marie
