Big Brother 15 — A Glimmer Of Hope (Maybe)

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 30, 2013

Hi, y’all:

I wish I had more to report today but, unfortunately, it still looks like Amanda is going to survive for at least another week and Howard is going to be sent out of the house on Thursday night.

However, for Howard, there is a slight sliver of hope on the horizon.  Unfortunately, that hope depends on the sheep in the house actually starting to play the game and, if Howard is saved, it’ll be due to the efforts of the most loathsome guy in the house.

Spencer, perhaps realizing that he’s going to Amanda’s target after Howard, has been working overtime to try to convince the other houseguests to vote Amanda out of the house.

When last I checked, it appeared that he had nearly convinced Gina Marie to vote out Amanda.  While the rest of the houseguests have been content to just laugh about Gina Marie obsession with Nick, Spencer used it to his advantage by reminding her that Amanda wanted Nick out.

Spencer has also been trying to convince Judd and Andy to flip.  I think he’s making a huge mistake with Andy but Judd seems to at least be open to the idea.  If Judd decides to flip on Amanda, then he could potentially bring Jessie with him.

If Judd, Jessie, Gina Marie, and Spencer all vote for Amanda, then that would lead to Howard still getting voted out by one vote.  So, Spencer needs to convince one more houseguest to flip and, again, I doubt he’s going to be able to convince Andy to abandon Amanda.

Spencer’s best bet would probably be to work on Helen.  Again, I doubt whether or not Helen would flip but if she did, she’d probably be able to bring along Elissa.

Spencer’s problem is that, even though almost everyone would be — in theory — willing to get rid of Amanda, nobody has the courage to make a big move and be the deciding vote.  Instead, everyone just wants to play it safe and go along with the majority.

Amanda, meanwhile, is now convinced that Judd is the MVP and that he’s the one who put her up.  Hopefully, she’ll let her paranoia get the better of her and give Judd and Jessie an excuse to flip on her.

Also, last night, Amanda joked that she hoped that Candice would trip, land on Amanda’s tweezers, and lose an eyeball as a result.  She then laughed and said that she’s already been warned 3 times by the producers not to make comments about physically harming the other houseguests.

Assuming that Howard goes this week, it’ll be interesting to see if Amanda keeps getting the hero edit.  Whether the game is rigged or not, it’s obvious that Amanda is a producer’s favorite.  Now that America has let it be known that she’s not America’s favorite, I wonder if the show’s producers and editors will finally start to turn on her as well.

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 15 — It’s Monday!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 29, 2013

Howdy, y’all:

So, it’s another Monday and you know what that means.  That’s right, it’s time for another one of my extremely short Monday updates.  Sorry, everyone — Monday is my crazy day so my Monday updates are always the most rushed.

However, I think I’m in luck this Monday because, as crazy as the day is outside of the house, nothing unexpected is happening inside the house.

They had the POV ceremony today and Spencer took himself off the block.  Because Aaryn is scared of going against “the house,” (which is another way of saying that she’s allowing Amanda to run her game), Aaryn nominated Candice as his replacement.

Spencer is apparently talking about trying to flip the house and get either Candice or Amanda evicted this week but honestly, I have yet to see any sort of indication that Spencer’s going to be successful.  Howard told Candice that he’s not going down without a fight but again, I haven’t seen him trying to do anything to change anyone’s votes.  I swear to God, these houseguests are so passive!  Nobody seems to have any strategy beyond voting with the majority.

Seriously, the strategic move was so obvious!  If Aaryn had nominated McCrae then that would have pretty much guaranteed that Amanda would have left the house.  Howard, Spencer, and Candice would have then been in debt to Aaryn and Aaryn and Gina Marie would have gone from being the girls with no allies in the house to being the girls at the center of the house’s strongest alliance.

Instead, Aaryn nominated Candice, which guarantees that Howard is going to go home and that Amanda — who has no loyalty whatsoever to Aaryn — will stay.  With Howard going, that’ll give both Spencer and Candice even more motivation to target Aaryn.

This is so frustrating!  I wish there was someone in the house who had the courage to just slap everyone in the face and say, “WAKE UP!”

I really should have tried out for this season.

Anyway, I hope that something unexpected happens between today and Thursday night but, as of right now, it looks like Howard will be leaving.

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 15 — Thank You, America!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 28, 2013

Hey, y’all,

I love America!

Seriously, I know that this country has its problems.  Between Detroit going bankrupt, drones being used to execute American citizens, and this economic recovery that I keep hearing about but have yet to see any evidence that would prove its existence, it’s easy to get down on America.

But sometimes, America gets it right.

Case in point:

Yesterday, it was revealed that America had selected Amanda as the third nominee!

Naturally, Amanda freaked out and blamed Howard.  That’s not surprising because there’s nothing that Amanda doesn’t blame on Howard.  If it rains tomorrow, Amanda will probably blame it on Howard.  What’s sad is that the majority of the houseguests will agree with her because, as we’ve seen, this season’s cast struggles when it comes to thinking for themselves.

(What’s especially funny is that Amanda is still insisting that it couldn’t have been America who nominated her because “America loves me!”)

It was a lot of fun to watch Amanda panic.  I’m convinced that Amanda is one of the most overrated players in Big Brother history.  Any other season, Amanda would have been voted out already.  This season, Amanda’s just been lucky enough to find herself in the house with some of the weakest players in the history of the show.

When you take a realistic look at Amanda, she is a player who has never come close to winning a competition, obsesses over players — like Howard and Candice — who are not threats, has alienated almost everyone on a social level, and is currently having a showmance that should have put a huge target on her back.  What I’m saying is that if Amanda was on a season with Dan, Jeff, Jordan, Dr. Will, Rachel, or Evel Dick, she would have been voted out of the house a long time ago.

The players in the veto comp where Aaryn, Amanda, Spencer, Howard, Jessie, and Candice.  Not surprisingly, Amanda’s post-veto strategy was to threaten Jessie and attempt to intimidate her into using the veto on Amanda.  However, the threats were kinda pointless since Spencer’s the one who won the veto.

Now, as proud as I am of America, I’m less proud of the houseguests because it looks like they’re going to waste a perfectly good opportunity to vote out Amanda.  Instead, it looks like Aaryn is going to nominate Candice as a replacement for Spencer and Howard will be voted out of the house on a 8-0 vote.

That said, this week should, at the very least, remind the houseguests that Amanda is not untouchable.  Hopefully, the BB producers will continue the America-As-MVP twist for at least one more week and we’ll get another chance to nominate Amanda.

Seriously, Amanda needs to go.

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 15 — It’s Still What It Is

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 26, 2013

Hey y’all,

First off, I’m sorry for the late update.  Between work and going to see Fruitvale Station (which is an amazingly powerful and heart-breaking film, by the way), I didn’t even get a chance to check in with what’s been happening in the house until about an hour and a half ago.  And I didn’t want to post an update here until the nominations had officially been made.

Anyway, here’s where things currently stand in the Big Brother House:

On Thursday, Kaitlin was voted out on a 9-0 vote.  Needless to say, she wasn’t happy about this but — to quote Ringworm Boy — it is what it is.  Now, Kaitlin can return to whatever bar it was that they recruited her from.

Julie Chen announced that America would, once again, select the third nominee for the week.  Interestingly enough, she didn’t announce this until it was official that Aaryn would not be going home.  In other words, Julie was letting us know that we would have a second chance to get Aaryn out of the house…

Except we wouldn’t because, incredibly, Aaryn proceeded to win Head of Household.   As much as I hate Aaryn, I still laughed when she won HoH, just because it’s been so obvious that Big Brother producers are desperate to get her out of the house.

While the smart move would have been for Aaryn to nominate Elissa and Amanda, she instead decided that she had to “keep the house happy.”  Apparently, keeping the house happy this season means keeping Amanda happy because Aaryn allowed herself to be talked into nominating Spencer and Howard for eviction.

Before the nomination ceremony, Aaryn assured Spencer that he’s the pawn.  Things aren’t looking good for Howard, as even Candice was apparently talking about having to abandon him.

However, you have to wonder if the BB producers — who supposedly went out of their way to try to talk Elissa into not nominating Howard two weeks ago — really want the publicity of allowing the only black man in the house to be sent packing by a HoH who is best known for being a racist.

Finally, there’s the question of who America will nominate this week.  Since Aaryn won Head of Household, let’s assume that the people who voted for her last week will be smart enough not to try to vote for her again.  With Kaitlin now out of the game, it seems like there would be a good chance that a lot of those people would end up voting for Gina Marie.

However, judging from what I’ve been reading on twitter, a lot of viewers have finally gotten tired of Amanda.  Though she has some very vocal fans, more and more people are tweeting that they’re sick of her showmance with McCrae, they’re tired of her pathological obsession with getting Howard out of the house, and they’re tired of her attitude in general.  It doesn’t help that a lot of them believe that she’s a friend of Alison Grodner’s and that the entire game has been set up for her to win.  Also, there’s a lot of members of the Brenchel Army who feel that Amanda is a threat to Elissa.  I don’t know if all of this is going to add up to enough votes for Amanda to be nominated but it’s certainly a possibility.

(I don’t know about everyone else but whenever I watch Big Brother, they show a commercial where CBS says that Time Warner Cable is thinking of dropping them and that we, the viewers, need to write to Time Warner Cable and demand that they not drop CBS or “you might lose shows like Big Brother!”  At the end of the commercial, Amanda pops up and says, in that shrill, self-impressed way of hers: “What else do you need!?”  It is so freaking annoying!)

Last night, I got into a fight on twitter with a member of the Brenchel Army.  I commented that I wasn’t impressed with Elissa’s gameplay and a @MizzLianne popped up in my mentions and snapped, “SHUT UP IDIOT!”  I clicked on her profile and discovered that she’s definitely Team Elissa.  So, after I promptly told MizzLianne what she could go do with herself, I cast ten votes to make Elissa the third nominee.

Seriously, people need to learn how to play nice.

So, who do you think will be the third nominee?  I guess we’ll find out tomorrow at the veto competition!

‘Til then,

Stay supple!

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 15 — Elissa Goes Batty

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 24, 2013

Hey, y’all:

Two big things to report on.  There are allegations that Alison Grodner has rigged the game in Amanda’s favor.  But before I get into that, let’s talk about Elissa.

As Helen put it tonight, Elissa has “gone batty!”  Ever since she got nominated for eviction, Elissa has been acting increasingly paranoid.  Even though Elissa was the first of the houseguests to correctly guess that America had selected the nominees this week, she later apparently decided that she was incorrect and instead, one of the houseguests must be responsible for nominating her.  As a result, Elissa has spent most of this week acting more and more like her sister.

Elissa’s meltdown started in the afternoon when, while discussing why it disturbs her when people like Howard swear on the bible, she spotted McCrae and Andy laughing.  Elissa  decided that Andy and McCrae were laughing at her religion and basically, she lost it.  She started crying and threatening to self-evict and refused to listen to when Andy and McCrae attempted to apologize.

(What is the deal with houseguests threatening to self-evict this season?  I’m probably about as emotional a girl as you’ll ever meet — it’s the red hair — but, if it meant winning half a million dollars, I think I could manage to control myself for 3 months.  I certainly wouldn’t threaten to walk out just because I thought someone was laughing at me.  If anything, that would make me even more determined to stick around and win.)

Well, despite her threats, Elissa did not self-evict.  However, by the end of the night, I get the feeling that a lot of houseguests wished that she had.

Once she had stopped crying about Andy and McCrae, Elissa then went to Kaitlin and told her that — surprise! — Kaitlin is probably going to be evicted this week.  (Elissa was originally planning to vote for Aaryn but was talked into voting for Kaitlin by Helen, who argued that Kaitlin has a secret alliance with Howard and Spencer.)  Elissa asked Kaitlin if she was really had a “final four” deal with Spencer and Howard (and no, I’m not sure how three people can have a final four agreement) and, when Kaitlin denied it, Elissa went on to reveal that Helen, Jessie, Judd, Amanda, and McCrae are in an alliance.

Here’s where things get even more confusing.  Aaryn apparently overheard Elissa and and Kaitlin’s conversation and then went back to the HoH room where she told Amanda that Elissa had basically sold them out.  This then led to a huge house meeting in the bedroom where everyone tried to get the bottom of who said what.  Elissa ended up going off on Aaryn and blaming the whole thing on her.  Elissa also claimed that she has never said anything negative about Aaryn which everyone knows is a lie.  The end result is that Elissa came across as being unhinged and Aaryn, for the first time ever, got a chance to legitimately play the victim.

As a result of all this, all of Elissa’s former allies are now talking about voting her out next week.  (Elissa, in order to win the veto this week, gave up her chance to play in next week’s POV competition.)  Elissa, meanwhile, now seems to have decided to go back to her original plan of voting for Aaryn.  She made an attempt to talk Howard into voting with her but, considering her current status as the house pariah, it’s hard to imagine anyone voluntarily getting into an alliance with her.

Meanwhile, outside the house, an anonymous post has started to circulate on Facebook.  The author of the post claims to be a former casting associate with Big Brother.  In the post, she claims that Amanda is actually a friend of Alison Grodner and that Grodner has already decided that Amanda is going to win this season.  The post also claims that Elissa is only in the house to distract the viewers from noticing how the entire game has been rigged in Amanda’s favor.

I can’t say whether the post is authentic or if it’s just a hoax.  The whole conspiracy theory about Elissa serving as a decoy is a bit too paranoid for me.  However, regardless of whether or not the post was actually written by a former Big Brother casting associate or not, it’s hard to deny that there does seem to be a grain of truth to it.

Consider the following:

1) As we all know, the “storyline” of any reality television show is created through the editing. The show’s producers pick their heroes and their villians and then they edit accordingly.  On shows like Survivor and the Amazing Race, this editing is done after the competition has ended.  However, Big Brother is edited while it’s playing out.  As such, the producers are undoubtedly trying to effect what happens in the house from the minute the houseguests are first selected.

2) The producers of Big Brother have a well-documented history of protecting their favorites.  An obvious example would be Evel Dick who did a lot of things that should have gotten him kicked out of the house.  Others, like me, would include Rachel in this list.  Of course, sometimes the favorite — like Frank, for example — still end up playing such a bad game that they end up getting voted out of the house.

3) As Amanda was telling McCrae yesterday, she worked on a reality TV show before she went into real estate.  Conspiracy theorists are suggesting that this is where she first met and befriended Grodner.  Myself, however, I wonder if someone heard Amanda’s comments on the live feeds and then decided to write up a post accusing her of being a production plant.  It’s seems like an amazing coincidence that Amanda would just happen to talk about her past in reality tv on the exact same day that an anonymous author accuses her of being Alison Grodner’s best friend.

4) Amanda has gotten the most positive edit of any of the houseguests.  At times, I feel like the CBS Show might as well be called the Amanda Show.  Anything that happens in the house, we hear Amanda’s thoughts on it.  When the show first broadcast Aaryn’s racist remarks, we heard Amanda’s opinion about them before we heard from anyone else.  Though many people in the house have confronted Aaryn, Amanda is the only one that we’ve seen do it on-screen.  Amanda is definitely getting the hero edit, often times at the expense of other houseguests who rarely seem to get any screentime.

5) We’ve had three evictions and that means that we’ve sat through three set of goodbye messages.  Amanda is the only houseguest who has had her goodbye message broadcast all three times.  That would certainly seem to suggest that, at the very least, Amanda has some fans behind the scenes.

6) This may just be me but Amanda’s Diary Room appearances all have a very rehearsed, almost scripted quality to them.

7) Is Amanda’s arrogance simply a matter of her being confident or is it a sign that she’s sure that the game has been rigged in her favor?  It’s easy to be reckless when you have reason to believe that you’ll be protected.

Don’t get me wrong.  This is all speculation on my part.  I don’t know if the game is rigged but it is obvious that, for whatever reason, Amanda is currently a production favorite.  She’s also someone who, by any strategic logic, should have a huge target on her back.  If she makes it all the way to final two, you can be sure that a lot of people will assume that she had inside help to get there.

And they may very well be right.

Finally, I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode!  Not only will we get to see Elissa’s reaction to getting nominated by the Brenchel Army but we’ll also get to see the POV ceremony.  Yesterday, Judd commented that the POV seemed to be specifically designed for Elissa to win.  It’ll be interesting to see if he’s right.

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie

P.S. On an unrelated note, I think that William and Kate should name the royal baby Carlos Danger Windsor.

Big Brother 15 — Grodner’s Nightmare

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 23, 2013

Imagine this scenario:

It’s the finale of Big Brother 15.  After a long, controversial season, we’re down to the final two.  Howard sits in one chair.  Judd sits in the other.  The nine members of the jury have asked  their question.  They’ve inserted their keys.  Julie is counting the votes.

One person votes for Judd.

Another votes for Howard.

And so on.

Finally, with one key remaining to be pulled, the vote is tied at 4-4.

As Julie reaches for the final key, she says, “It all comes down to Aaryn’s vote…”

I’m sure that’s a vision that keeps Alison Grodner up at night.  At this point, with Big Brother just two weeks away from reaching the point where the houseguests will head straight to the jury house, Grodner and CBS have to be worried about the fact that, along with letting someone like Aaryn into the house, they are now facing the possibility that Aaryn could help determine who will win $500,000.

It’s been pretty obvious that the producers of Big Brother wants Aaryn out of the house and they want her gone sooner rather than later.  Whether it was encouraging Elissa not to nominate Howard or totally changing the MVP twist to make sure that Aaryn would be nominated this week, everything seems to be designed to get Aaryn out of the game.

Up until yesterday, it looked like Aaryn would be the one voted out.  Her entire alliance is nominated for eviction, Aaryn is universally disliked by everyone in the house, and I, for one, was convinced that Aaryn would be voted out unanimously.

However, something totally unexpected has happened.  The houseguests are actually thinking strategically.  They’re realizing that, as much as they hate Aaryn, she’s not really a threat.  She’s alienated nearly everyone in the house, she’s not all that good at challenges, and she would probably be the easiest person to beat in the finale.  (The only way Aaryn could win the game would be if she was in the final two with Gina Marie.  Incidentally, if that happened, I imagine Alison Grodner would have a nervous breakdown.)

On top of that, Aaryn has finally stopped being petulant long enough to actually play the game.  She has promised to throw the next two HoH competitions.  She’s promised to vote the way that Helen and Elissa want her to vote.

Meanwhile, Judd (who is a lot smarter than anyone is giving him credit for) has figured out that Kaitlin is the bigger threat in the house and he wants her out.  Jessie, Howard, Andy and Spencer will probably vote however Judd wants them to.  Helen wants her out and Elissa, who is still pretty paranoid after getting nominated earlier this week, will probably follow Helen.  Amanda’s main obsession remains Howard but, since she can’t get rid of him this week, she has also quite rightly deduced that Kaitlin is a bigger threat.  Since McCrae no longer has a mind of his own, he’ll also vote however Amanda tells him.  Candice would certainly prefer to get rid of Aaryn but I get the feeling that she’ll end up voting however Howard votes.

So, Kailtin will walk and Aaryn and Gina Marie will get another week in the house and will be one week closer to making it to the jury.

And, quite frankly, it’s starting to look like both of them are going to make it to the jury house.  Amanda is obsessed with getting rid of Howard and, with each passing day, it seems like the rest of the house is getting more and more irritated with Amanda.  Along with being overbearing, her showmance with McCrae has put a huge target on her back.

As much as we, the viewers, would love to see both Aaryn and Gina Marie voted out of the house, Big Brother is a game of strategy and it’s looking like the houseguests are finally starting to realize that.  Strategically, it makes total sense to keep weak players like Aaryn and Gina Marie.

If my math is correct (and please let me know if it isn’t because I specifically majored in Art History in college so that I could get out of having to worry about fulfilling the math requirement), we’ve got two more evictions to go before the jury starts to form.  I imagine that the show’s producers would love to get Aaryn and Gina Marie out before jury.

(Spencer has been worse than Gina Marie and just as bad as Aaryn but the majority of the publicity about prejudice in the house has focused on Aaryn and Gina Marie.  For whatever reason, Spencer has been getting such a good edit on the CBS show that it’s literally like watching an entirely different human being whenever he shows up on After Dark or on the Live Feeds.)

However, the way things are playing out right now, it looks like one or both of those houseguests will make it to jury house.

And so, Grodner’s nightmare continues.

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 15 — Ding Dong, All Three Witches Are Up…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 22, 2013

Salut tout le monde!

It’s Monday, which means that it’s another crazy day.  However, I’ve got a few minutes to kill so I thought I would toss up a quick update and give everyone a new post to comment under.

The POV ceremony was today and, of course, Elissa used the veto to take herself off the block.  As a result, Gina Marie went up on the block in her place.  Now, of course, we all know that Gina Marie was nominated because, after America voted, she had the next highest number of votes after Aaryn, Elissa, and maybe Kaitlin.  The Houseguests, however, do not know this and, though a few have mentioned the possibility that America voted this week, a lot of them are still trying to figure out who the MVP is.

In fact, Gina Marie still thinks that Elissa won MVP, put herself up on purpose, then won the veto, took herself off, and then nominated Gina Marie.  Judging from the intelligence displayed so far by most of the housguests, I imagine Gina Marie isn’t alone in believing that.

So, what this means is that one of three witches — Aaryn, Kaitlin, or Gina Marie — will be going home on Thursday.

If I was in the house and looking at this strategically, I would vote to evict Kaitlin because, of the three, she’s the only real threat.  Gina Marie isn’t good at challenges and, for that matter, Aaryn only won House of Household because she had Ringworm Boy there to help her.  Add to that, Aaryn is so hated that it would actually make sense to keep her around because that would keep people from targeting me.

However, Aaryn is so hated that I have a feeling that she’ll be the one evicted on Thursday.  In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if Aaryn is evicted on a unanimous vote.  With both Kaitlin and Gina Marie nominated and ineligible to vote, Aaryn literally has no allies left.

What do you think will happen when Aaryn steps out those doors?  Will the audience boo?  Will Julie ask her about the racism?  Will they inform her that she’s now unemployed?  Will David be waiting for her?  Will her mother be there with Aaryn’s new publicist?

We’ll find out later this week!

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 15 — And the third nominee is…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 21, 2013

Hi, everyone!

Well, if you’ve read the comments under the previous post or if you checked the trending topics over on twitter then you know what happened yesterday but, just in case, I’m going to do a quick recap:

So, everyone in the House was paranoid about who had won MVP — especially Elissa who seemed to be genuinely confused as to why she hadn’t been called into the Diary Room and given her envelope.

Little did they realize that the rules of the game had abruptly changed.  No longer was America supposed to vote for an MVP.  They were supposed to vote for a third nominee.

Now, to veteran BB watchers, this seemed like a pretty obvious ploy on the part of the the BB producers to keep Elissa from nominating Howard and to get Aaryn out of the house before she starts wandering around the backyard whistling Dixie and talking about burning crosses.

While everyone seems to be pretty sure that Aaryn was the number one vote getter, Aaryn was already nominated by Judd.  Nominated with Aaryn was Kaitlin, another person who many people assumed would get a lot of votes.  Since the rules stated that the highest vote getter who was not already a nominated would become the third nominee, it anyone really shocked that — at the veto meeting — Elissa ended up nominated?

If you were on twitter when the third nomination was revealed then you had a chance to witness the Brenchel Army have a mass nervous breakdown.  There’s a lot of theories about why Elissa got nominated.  First off, the polls opened before Thursday’s show had been broadcast on the West Coast which means that a lot of people voted without having had a chance to learn about the rules change.  As well, several members of the Brenchel Army admitted that they apparently hadn’t been paying attention to Julie when she explained the new twist.  As a result, they continued to robotically vote for Elissa just like they always did.

And then there’s the fact that there are people, like me, who feel like the only reason that Elissa got on the show is because she’s Rachel’s sister, that the MVP twist gave her — as the only player with a built-in fanbase — an unfair advantage over the other players, and who are sick of having to deal with members of the Brenchel Army sending us rude tweets on twitter whenever we offer up the least amount of criticism of Elissa’s game play.

No, I’m never going to be a fan of Elissa’s but I will give her credit where credit is due.  For all the criticism that Elissa has taken for not having any game, she won the power of veto and earned her right to be in the house for another week.  Good for her.  Who knows?  Maybe this experience will cause her to start playing the game as opposed to just relying on being “America’s favorite.”

Anyway, Elissa is going to take herself off the block and, from what I’ve heard, whoever received the next highest amount of votes will be the new nominee.  Rumor has it that might be Gina Marie.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Elissa’s nomination is how many of the HGs (not just Aaryn but Amanda, as well) automatically assumed that Elissa had both won MVP and then proceeded to nominate herself!  Uhmm, paranoid much?

Finally, I’m going to agree with everyone who has complained about the way that Amanda and McCrae have pretty much moved into Judd’s HoH room.  Right now, I think Amanda’s lucky to have the Three Witches in the house because once Aaryn, Kaitlin, and Gina Marie are gone, I think the remaining HGs are going to have a bit more aware of and have a lot less patience for Amanda’s attitude.

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie

Big Brother 15 — What Did I Miss?

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 20, 2013

Hi, all!

So, yesterday, I ended up having to take the day off from Big Brother and get some rest.  Luckily, I didn’t miss anything in the house, did I?

Actually, judging from the comments under the previous post, it looks like I missed a lot.

Julie Chen would probably say that the game has changed once again but actually, it looks like the game is just revealing its true self.  Last week, everyone was so focused on getting rid of Jeremy (and, for the record, he was voted out on Thursday by a 9-1 vote — only Kaitlin voted to evict Spencer) that it created a sense of false unity.  The only clue that the house wasn’t as unified as Sister Helen wanted us to believe came when Elissa nominated Spencer instead of Howard and Amanda nearly threw an implant at her as a result.

Anyway, Ringworm Boy is out of the house, Sister Helen is out of the HoH room, and Judd Boomhauer is now HoH.

Technically, Judd is a member of the Knock-Outs, which was the alliance that was built around Sister Helen while she was HoH.  However, as quickly became obvious while Judd and Jessie were talking in the HoH room, Judd is a bit less dedicated to the Knock-outs as Helen and Amanda may have initially assumed.  Amanda, after all, is nearly obsessed with getting Howard out of the house but Judd has said that he personally doesn’t view Howard as a threat.

As far as nominations are concerned, Judd was going to nominate Kaitlin and either Gina Marie or Aaryn.  Of course, a huge part of his thinking was that whoever he didn’t nominate could then be nominated by MVP-for-life Elissa.  Judd eventually ended up putting Kaitlin and Aaryn up for nomination.

Here’s the big twist however: Elissa is not going to be this week’s MVP!  Instead, Alison Gordner has apparently realized that the MVP twist hasn’t really worked out for all the reasons that should have been obvious to her when she first decided to put Elissa on the show and hence, in typical Gordner style, she has abruptly decided to change the rules.  This week, the viewers are the MVP and whoever the majority of us vote for will be the third nominee.

(Also, since everyone in the house — Amanda, especially — seemed to assume that the MVP twist only existed to get Howard out of the house, this could have been Gordner’s way of trying to ensure that Howard would at least last longer in the game than racist Aaryn.)

Since just about everyone has assumed that America would chose to nominate Aaryn, the question has now become who is America’s second most disliked houseguest?  I always assumed that it would be either Kaitlin, Gina Marie, or maybe even Spencer (I know that I certainly hate Spencer but, unless you get the live feeds or BBAD, you might not know how loathsome he really is) but the fact of the matter is that Aaryn is so universally loathed that second place is kind of up in the air.

I could just as easily see second place going to Elissa or Amanda.  Neither one of them is as universally loved as they both seem to assume and the people who dislike them tend to be just as strong about it as those who like them.

(I forget which past HG said this but it went something like this: “When a lot of people love you, that means that a lot of people hate you too.”)

My money is still on Gina Marie being America’s nominee but it’ll still be interesting to see what happens!

Another interesting question is whether or not the HGs are ever going to be told that America voted for the third nominee or are they going to continue to assume that one of them is the MVP.  Remember, the MVP is under no obligation to reveal his or her identity.

When last I checked, Elissa was freaking out because she still hadn’t received her envelope and there was a lot of speculation going on in the house about who had won MVP.  However, Amanda is already paranoid because Elissa didn’t nominate Howard last week and I can imagine Amanda convincing herself that Elissa actually does have MVP and is just pretending that she doesn’t.  Just imagine what will happen if, by some odd twist of fate, Amanda does end up as America’s nominee…

(And I’ll admit right now that I voted for Amanda because she has a tendency to be a bit too impressed with herself.  Add to that, I am so over McCrae and her as a couple…)

Stay supple,

Lisa Marie
