Hi, y’all.

Well, I have to say that I have never been less enthused about opening the diary room than I am right now.  On Thursday night, either Nicole or Victoria will be sent to the jury house.  Yet another woman will be sent to the jury and Frankie the misogynist will be one step closer to reaching the final two.

I will be watching Thursday’s show very carefully.  During Wednesday’s show, no mention was made of Frankie’s comments about Victoria.  I understand that they probably can’t show all of what he said and did on prime time TV without violating some sort of FEC regulation but the fact of the matter is that something needs to be said.  I noticed that during Wednesday’s show, Frankie was no longer being given the total hero edit.  The show seems to be finally willing to admit that Frankie is a narcissistic blowhard but that’s really only scratching the surface as to why Frankie Grande is now the least popular person in the house.

To be honest, at this point, I’m starting to hope that Victoria will win, just to tick everyone off.

ANYWAY — let’s open up the diary room and cast our votes evict.  You can either vote over on the right side of the page or you can vote in the comments section below or you can do both.  Do you vote to evict–

You’ll notice that I didn’t say anything negative about Nicole or Victoria and that’s because I don’t think either one of them deserves to be nominated or to go home.  And, quite frankly, I don’t like the way that the show has treated either one of them.  Victoria has only been featured to score easy laughs and, for all the time that is spent showing other HGs disparaging her in the Diary Room, it’s rare that Victoria is ever allowed to be heard.  Meanwhile, Nicole should have been given immunity after she came back into the house.  She wasn’t and, as a result, she’s had to spend two weeks being bullied nonstop by the likes of Frankie, Caleb, and Cody?

So, who do you vote for?

Me, I vote to evict Nicole and I do it for only one reason.  I want Victoria to have the last laugh on Frankie by staying in the house longer than he does.

Tomorrow is also going to be a double eviction night.  It appears that Nicole will be evicted first.  As for the second eviction — well, we’ll see.  Myself, I’m hoping that Frankie will be following Nicole out that door.  And when Frankie steps outside of the Big Brother House, Julie better have some real questions waiting for him.

Hi, y’all!

First things first — did everyone have a good Labor Day weekend?  I did.  I hung out with my family, I lay out by the pool at my uncle’s house, I saw three really good movies (The One I Love, If I Stay, and Begin Again), and I spent almost all of today shopping with my sister.  It was a good holiday weekend.  And I have to admit that, at first, I didn’t feel bad about taking a weekend off from Big Brother because I naturally assumed that nothing worth talking about would be happening in the house.  I figured I’d just come back and tell you who won the veto and all that good stuff and that would be it.

Instead, over this weekend, something happened in the house that I have to comment on.  And I know that y’all know exactly what I’m talking about.  I’m talking about what Frankie said about Victoria.  However, it’s not just what he said.  Suggesting that Caleb and Derrick should get Victoria drunk and then rape her (“take both of her virginities,” as Frankie put it) was disgusting.  If he had just said that, I would already hate Frankie and be saying that he needs to be sent out of the house.  It was also the way that he said it; the palpable joy he took out of saying it and then “acting” it out.  

It’s also the fact that Caleb responded by laughing and egging Frankie on.  It’s the fact that Derrick — an agent of law enforcement — didn’t seem to have any issue with what Frankie said, beyond the fact that it might upset a few people watching the live feeds.  Cody was clearly uncomfortable with what Frankie said but he didn’t leave the room.  He didn’t leave the conversation.  And then there’s Christine, whose only concern seemed to be that she didn’t want any of the guys “flirting” with Victoria.

Let me tell you something.  If I had been in that room and Frankie had said that about another female houseguest — regardless of what I might think about that houseguest personally — I probably would have slapped Frankie.  That’s the least of what he deserves.

Here’s the thing — we all know that we’re going to hear houseguests say stupid things.  When you’re on camera 24 hours a day and you’re competing for $50,000, tempers are going to flare and people are going to get stressed and people are going to say things that they shouldn’t.  But there is simply no excuse for what Frankie said, just as there was no excuse for the racist, homophobic, and sexist comments that were made last season.

And just as the Big Brother producers went out of their way to rightly condemn people like Aaryn last year, they now need to condemn Frankie’s comments.  Frankie needs to be asked about them.  Frankie needs to explain himself.  

And most importantly, Frankie needs to leave the house.  It’s bad enough that this season has primarily been used to promote Frankie’s sister.  It’s bad enough that Frankie — much like Amanda until she had a similar meltdown last year — has obviously been protected by production.  Frankie’s comments went over the line and it doesn’t matter who his sister is or how much CBS wants to be in the Ariana Grande business, Frankie needs to go.

Honestly, if Frankie — who is already quite wealthy, along with being a hateful misogynist — wins this season, it’ll be a disaster.  Myself, I’m at the point where the only reason I continue to watch Frankie is because I made a commitment to watch and write about the season, regardless of how much I dislike the people in the house.

Frankie needs to go.  And he needs to go before Victoria.

As for what else has been going on in the house:

Christine won the veto.  Up until late last night, it appeared that Caleb was going to backdoor Frankie this week but no, he wimped out.  Instead, he has nominated Victoria.  So, on Thursday, either Nicole or Victoria will leave the house.  It’ll probably be Nicole because Derrick will want to keep Victoria around.

However, Thursday will also be a double eviction.  Hopefully, the 2nd person to leave will be Frankie.  It could happen.  Even beyond what he said about Victoria, Frankie has been getting more and more arrogant inside the house.  Ever since he told everyone that Ariana is his sister, Frankie has literally decided that he’s the king of the house.  (And why not?  Much like Amanda last season, he knows that he’s a production favorite.)  

So, here’s hoping.

But honestly, if Frankie makes it to the final two and wins, I might have to a seriously reconsider my loyalty to this show.

Hi y’all:

Well, here’s a quick update as to what has happened in the house since yesterday’s post.

Donny was voted out of the house.  It was a unanimous vote, as usual.  Donny, the nicest and most harmless man in the house, was voted out and, of course, Christine had to gloat about how she had finally gotten the sneakiest person in the house out.  Little does she suspect that everyone who watched Big Brother last night also got to see an interview with her husband, Tim.  

I had mixed feelings about Tim’s interview.  On the one hand, I felt so bad for him because it was obvious that, underneath all of his attempts to humor, that his heart really was breaking.  If Christine and Tim are still married a year from now, I’ll be surprised.  The fact that his wife is crawling all over another man has to be painful enough for Tim without it being a guy who is a thousand times better looking than he is.

That’s right!  Christine and Frankie were in the lead for a while but ultimately, Caleb is the one who won.  What does that mean?  It means that Derrick is safe and, as long as Derrick is safe, Victoria is probably safe as well.  Caleb announced his nominations earlier today and nobody was surprised when he nominated Nicole and Christine for eviction.

(Caleb has said that he might be interested in backdooring Frankie but I doubt it will happen.  Unless Nicole wins the veto, she’s probably going back to the jury house and Hayden on Thursday.  If Nicole does win the veto, I have a feeling that they’ll just go ahead and get rid of Christine.)

Finally, America did something right last night.  Frankie and Derrick decided that America would rather see Team America put on a play than try to save Donny.  Frankie did his little play and then America was asked to vote whether or not Team America deserved $5,000 for the effort.

Frankie was instructed to ask Julie if the have nots would be allowed to have apple pie during the live show.

Frankie did so.

In one of the best moments of the season, Julie replied that the Have Nots will “overwhelmingly not be allowed to have apple pie.”

Frankie looked stunned by the news.  What I found interesting is that none of the other HGs caught on to how awkward Frankie’s conversation with Julie was.  I mean, at first, I thought it would be obvious to anyone that Frankie and Julie were talking in code.  But then I thought about how the other houseguests are and quite frankly, we don’t exactly have a smart group of people left inside the house.

Anyway, Frankie and Derrick were both pretty upset over America voting against them.  When they talked about it after the HoH competition, Frankie first guessed that America may have wanted them to save Donny.  But then he talked himself out of that and decided that, instead, people voted against him because they hate him because he was dressed in drag. 

Because, of course, it couldn’t have had something to do with the play being stupid or anything like that.

The Diary Room is finally open!  I apologize for the delay.  I’d tell you that it was because I couldn’t find the key to unlock the room but the truth is actually far more mundane — which is that I just got swamped at my day job and this is the first chance that I’ve had to actually get online and do anything!

But enough about me!

Hi y’all!

I’ve decided that I am officially on Team Yawn.  This season has been one predictable eviction after another.  There was a little suspense during the double eviction but otherwise, there really haven’t been any surprises and that pattern is continuing this week.  When I find myself trying to describe or put a new spin on what’s happening in the house, it’s hard to fight back the urge to yawn.  It’s not that I’m bored or that I’m not interested or that I’m not having fun.  

It’s just that it’s all so predictable.

As more than few of you have pointed out, the “Expect the Unexpected” slogan really has gone from being a motto to being a cruel joke.  

Anyway, as usual, not much has happened.  As I mentioned last night, there was a chance that Derrick and Frankie would decide to try to keep Donny over Nicole.  However, Derrick ordered Frankie to mention the possibility to Caleb.  Caleb — who wants the Final Four to be him, Cody, Derrick, and Frankie (no girls allowed in Caleb’s little world, apparently) — freaked out when he heard this and he automatically ran to Cody and told him that Frankie was not to be trusted.

This led to Cody freaking out and, of course, we all know what Cody does when he freaks out.  He talks to Derrick.  He told Derrick that Frankie was trying to keep Donny and Derrick reacted by letting Cody know that he was shocked — just shocked! — that Frankie would suggest that.

Derrick then went to Frankie and told him that it might be too much trouble to keep Donny this week.  So, the plan once again is for Donny to be sent to the jury house on Thursday.

And it was actually a pretty clever move on Derrick’s part.  He managed to explore the possibility of keeping Donny without anyone — other than Frankie, who hardly anybody trusts anymore — knowing that he was even thinking about switching his vote.  And, even though he won’t be able to keep Donny around, Derrick has given everyone yet another reason to consider turning on Frankie.

So, it’s been just another day in the Big Brother House.  Derrick’s in charge, Donny’s on the block, and Caleb is convinced that he’s not only going to win the game but he’s going to be named America’s Player as well.

At this point, I think I’d rather watch what’s going on in the jury house.

Hi, everyone!

Here’s a quick update to let you know what happened today as far as the veto meeting is concerned.

Donny and Nicole are the nominees.  HoH Cody won the veto and, last night, he was actually talking about using the veto to backdoor Frankie.  It’s clear that Cody does not trust Frankie and he probably knows that it would be hard for him to beat Frankie in the final two.  Add to that, apparently a bunch of fans gathered outside the Big Brother house and shouted, “Frankie is the saboteur and Derrick is a cop!” yesterday.  Amazingly, no one understood the part about Derrick but everyone heard what was said about Frankie.

So, really, this week would have been the perfect time to get rid of Frankie, right?

Well, Derrick didn’t think so.  And, as we all know, Cody isn’t going to do anything unless he gets Derrick’s okay.  Derrick told Cody to not use the veto.

So, it’s not surprising that at today’s meeting, Cody kept the nominations the same.

So, come Thursday, either Donny or Nicole will be evicted.  Ever since the nominations were first announced, it has seemed pretty obvious that Donny was the target.  However, Frankie has recently decided that it might be a better idea to evict Nicole before Donny.  So, right now, there is an outside chance that Frankie could convince Derrick and Nicole could go back to the jury house on Thursday.  It’s not much of a chance but it’s there.

One thing’s for certain.

Derrick and Frankie will be the ones to decide who joins that jury this week.

Hi everyone.

So, what did y’all think about Sunday’s show?  This was the first episode of Big Brother since the end of the Double HoH twist and that also made it the first Sunday episode of the season to note feature a battle of the block.  There was only one HoH (Cody) and when he made his nominations (Donny and Nicole) — well, those were the nominees.  There was no endless talk about throwing competitions or anything else.

And even more glaringly, there was no Zach.  I’ve always gone back-and-forth on Zach.  Sometimes, he got on my nerves and sometimes, I liked him.  However, I always thought that he made the show interesting and I respected the fact that he was often the only houseguest willing to say what everyone else was thinking.

Plus, it’s hard to deny that there are many reasons that Zach was voted out but a BIG one was that Team America continually used him as a scapegoat for all of their schemes.  Because of Team America, everyone thought that Zach was the brother of Amanda, one of the most hated houseguests ever.  Everyone thought he was an out-of-control jerk, specifically because Team America continually pressured him to say jerky things.  And finally, everyone thought he was a thief. 

If you get the feeling that I spent most of Sunday’s show thinking about Zach — well, you’re right.  Watching tonight’s show, I saw what a huge gap that absence of Zach leaves in the house.  Nobody else was as entertaining.  I mean, don’t get me wrong.  Donny is nice and likable and so is Nicole but neither one of them is particularly entertaining.  Their stability is a part of their appeal.  Zach, however, was entertaining specifically because he was willing to risk being disliked.

As for the rest of the house — well, I still enjoy watching Derrick manipulate people because he does it so well.  However, Derrick is such an obviously superior strategic player to everyone in the house that there’s no real suspense.  At no point, do you ask yourself, “Will Derrick be able to pull this off?”  Of course, he will!  Remember how surprised we all were when Dan managed to avoid getting voted out during Big Brother 14 by holding “Dan’s Funeral?”  One of the reason why Dan’s Funeral was so memorable was because it was risky and it involved Dan having to fool some very smart players.  Dan took a real risk.  However, Derrick is such a strong player and everyone else is so weak that there is literally no risk involved.  Derrick can basically get away with anything that he wants.  If Derrick held his own funeral, it wouldn’t be half-as-exciting because there would be no doubt about whether or not it would work.

Let’s give Derrick credit.  He’s playing a good game and if he wins, he’ll deserve it.  But one man dominating the house does not necessarily make for a fun viewing experience.

Sunday’s show dragged a bit for me.  Even with the HoH competition and the nominations, it was obvious that a lot of the show was simply filler.  It was fun to watch Caleb try to be a ninja.  And I thought it was cute when Cody opened the bedroom door, saw Nicole, and shouted in fright.  But this was all stuff that we probably wouldn’t have seen if there was actually anything happening in the house!

But oh well!  Hopefully, things will pick up once Donny leaves (and, as of right now, it appears that Cody will leave the nominations as they are and Donny will be evicted on Thursday) and the Detonators have to start truly turning on each other.  One possible scenario: The Detonators get so caught up in betraying each other that somehow, Nicole and Victoria slip under the radar and end up as the final two.

As I’ve said before, a girl can dream, can’t she?

Bonjour, y’all!

Now, you guys know that I like Cody.  Even as everyone else has turned against him, I’ve occasionally defended him.  Even when he was repeatedly accused of being a floater (which he is), I still defended him because — even if it doesn’t make for satisfying television — floating is as legitimate a strategy as any other.  But, I have to be honest — the main reason I defended Cody is because he’s hot.  It really has nothing to do with him as a player.  In fact, it really doesn’t have much to do with him as a person, either.  I mean, Cody may be nice to look at but I doubt that he’s a very interesting conversationalist.  I guess what I mean to say is that Cody has never exactly come across as being the smartest guy in the BB house.

(And I’m not even going to get into his relationship with Christine…BLEH!)

But, apparently, this week, Cody has finally woken up.  No, he hasn’t realized that Derrick is using him and no, he hasn’t figured out that Frankie is obviously this season’s production favorite.  He hasn’t even realized that Christine is pretty much a useless ally.  But he has woken up enough to finally start winning competitions.

Now, we haven’t seen the HoH or the veto competition yet so we don’t know what Cody had to do to win BOTH of those comps.  It could very well be that either Derrick or Frankie decided to throw the comps at the last moment because neither one wanted to get blood on their hands.  (Derrick has the luxury to do that because he knows that, regardless of who the HoH is, he’ll never be nominated.)  So, I don’t want to make too big a deal about Cody’s victories until I know for sure how he got them.

But, ultimately, what’s important is that Cody did win HoH and he did win the veto competition and right now, he is technically the most powerful person in the house.  (I say technically because he’s still pretty much just doing whatever Derrick tells him to do.)  Cody has nominated Donny and Nicole for eviction and it would appear that Donny is the target.  Earlier today, Cody and Derrick did briefly discuss the possibility of backdooring Frankie but I doubt it’s going to happen.  For whatever reason, Derrick is massively paranoid about Donny.  He and Frankie have been looking for a chance to vote out Donny since the game began and my instinct tells me that they’ll finally get that chance on Thursday.

But, hey, at least Cody decided to invite Nicole and Donny to take part in a reward with him.  Apparently, as a result of winning the veto, Cody also won the opportunity to watch the first episode of the new CBS series, Scorpion.  Myself, I would be a little bit upset with that award.  I would probably be saying, “I’d rather watch a real movie instead of a TV show that really doesn’t look like it’s going to be that good.”  But you can be sure that Cody, Nicole, and Donny will all go into the Diary Room and talk about how much they loved watching Scorpion.  CBS is promoting that show with all their might (there’s usually about three commercials for it during every episode of Big Brother) and you can bet that the houseguests will do their part.

That’s kind of been the problem with this season, hasn’t it?  Everyone’s just doing their part.  No one is thinking independently.

Finally, Victoria did faint earlier today.  She was taken out of the house, she got an IV, and apparently she met a cute medic and you know what?  Good for her.  She should get something out of this experience because she certainly isn’t going to win the money.  Anyway, Victoria is back in the house now and is apparently doing much better.  

I wonder if they’re going to show Victoria fainting on the CBS show?  You know that if they do, Jocasta is probably going to feel obligated to faint in the jury house.

Hi, y’all!

So, here’s the quick update as to what’s happening in the house right now:

Zach was voted out by a unanimous vote last night.  In perhaps the best thing that Victoria had done all year, she taunted Zach by holding up the remains of the pink hat during her goodbye message.  Zach looked like he was about to cry.  You know what?  I’ve criticized Zach a lot and I don’t think I’ll ever like him as much as some people do but I do like the way he handled being evicted.  I think, out of everyone in the house, he best understood that he was playing a role in a TV show.  The moment when he threw the fruit loops will definitely be remembered as one of the highlights of this otherwise mundane season.

After Zach left, he, Jocasta, Nicole, and Hayden competed to reenter the house.  Nicole won, which made a lot of people happy.  It certainly made me happy because, I thought, if anyone could shake up the house — it would be Nicole.  For me, the scariest part of the competition was when Jocasta was in the lead.  “Oh no!” I thought, “not another week of Sobbing Jocasta!”  Then Jocasta started making all of those weird faces and I was scared, for a minute, that she was about to try to kill either Zach or Hayden.

Nicole is back in the house and Hayden, Zach, and Jocasta are now back at the jury house.  

As soon as Nicole got back in the house, the first thing she did was ask the other HGs about Zingbot and, as soon as I saw that, my heart fell a little.  Nicole should have come in the house and started trying to make deals and alliances.  Instead, she was more concerned about the zings.  It’s not surprising that, earlier today, Nicole was telling Donny that she feels like her head is not really back in the game and that she kinda misses the jury house which, according to Nicole, is a lot nicer than the Big Brother House.

(It’s certainly a lot cleaner!  Seriously, somebody tell these HGs to start picking up after themselves…)

Anyway, I know we were all hoping for a big shakeup in the house but no.  Cody won HoH.  I’m happy because that means Cody is safe for another week but, at the same time, it’s pretty obvious that Cody is always going to do whatever Derrick tells him to do.  And Derrick told him to nominate Donny and Nicole for eviction.  

As of right now, it looks like Donny is the target.  However, the POV still needs to be played and Donny does have a history of winning those.  If Donny does come off the block, I imagine that Victoria will go up as the replacement and the target will switch to Nicole.  

Derrick may allow Victoria to be nominated but there’s no way he’ll allow her to be voted out of the house.  He knows that if he takes her to the final two, he’ll win easily.
