Big Brother 17: Here’s What Happened At The Veto Ceremony…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 17, 2015

Hi, everyone!  I’m just popping in to give y’all my quick Monday update of what’s happening in the Big Brother House.

Today was Veto Ceremony Day.  On Saturday, when they held the veto competition and Hate Twin Liz won it, she told her alliance that she wasn’t going to use it.  Of course, even after learning this, Vanessa started to freak out because she was convinced that she would be backdoored.

Well, don’t worry, Vanessa!  Any other season of Big Brother, you have been backdoored!  But this is the season where houseguests have to literally be forced to go after dangerous players.  So, no, you will not be backdoored this week.  You will remain for another week, largely because the Hate Twins feels that you’re a bigger target than they are.  It’s not necessarily a bad strategy on their part, though I do think they have to be careful about holding off for so long that Vanessa manages to sneak into the final two.

Anyway, they held the ceremony earlier today.  Liz did not use the veto.  Vanessa is all smiles again.  As of right now, it looks like Becky will be sent to the jury house on Thursday.

And yes, eventually, a juror is going to return to the house but I imagine that won’t happy until next week.  I think they usually wait until there’s 4 jurors before sending someone back into the house.

Big Brother 17: Veto Spoilers

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 16, 2015

Hi, everyone!

So, in this post, I’m going to share the results of the POV competition.  I know that all of our regular readers love spoilers but just in case you’ve randomly wandered onto this site and you only want to get your info from the CBS and you don’t want any spoilers before the Veto ceremony is aired on Wednesday, this is your SPOILER ALERT!

(I’m going to all that trouble, by the way, because I got an angry message from someone on twitter, complaining about how I always spoil her favorite shows.  Bleh.  Isn’t that what twitter is for?)

Anyway, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, here are the veto results!

So, the HGs competed for the veto yesterday.  The competition started late (I imagine because of the heat) and it ran late and, at times, it seemed like I would never find out who won this stupid veto.  But then, finally, the feeds came back on.  As you can probably guess, I was rooting for John, despite the fact that he earlier said he was going to throw the comp and allow Becky to win.

Well, I don’t know whether John threw the comp but I do know that he didn’t win the veto.  And neither did Becky.  Instead, the veto was won by Hate Twin Liz.

And even though Liz is the HoH and she’s spent all of this week talking about how they have to eventually get rid of Vanessa, Liz says that she’s not going to use the veto.  Instead, she will leave the nominees as they are and she will let “the house” decide who goes home.

Yeah, okay, Liz….whatever.

Seriously, I hate how dependent the HGs have gotten on backdooring people but Vanessa is a legitimate threat and everyone in the house wants her gone and, if there’s ever been a time to get rid of Vanessa before she suddenly shows up in the final two, it would be now!  And yes, I’m aware that the HGs are scared that an evicted juror might win the right to reeneter the house but Vanessa sucks at comps.  They should be a lot more worried about either Shelli or Jackie coming back.

Anyway, right now, it looks like the house is leaning towards evicting Becky.  At the start of this week, John forgot that he was a Have Not and ate a cookie so there’s a good chance that he’ll have one penalty vote against him.  But, in the end, I doubt that will make a difference.  It’ll probably another near unanimous vote and soon, Becky will be hanging out with Shelli and Jackie at the Jury House.

That’s it for now!

Big Brother 17: Good News and Bad News

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 15, 2015

Hi, everyone!

Well, the veto ceremony is going to be held later today.  Apparently, it’s going to be the famous OTEV veto.  The Big Brother house voice told the HGs to be sure to rest and drink lots of water before the competition because apparently, it’s hot in California right now.

But anyway, here’s what’s been happening in the house.  As seems to be the pattern for this season, it’s a combination of bad news and good news.

Here’s the bad news.  Liz is HoH.  While the Hate Twins have been busy talking about how hot they are and laughing at Austin behind his back, Vanessa has been scurrying like a wool-hatted mouse and trying to get our beloved Johnny Mac nominated.

To his credit, John has finally woken up.  He figured out that — regardless of what the Hate Twins told him — he was the target this week.  He also figured out that Vanessa has been telling everyone that he can’t be trusted.  So, before the nominations, John was having a conversation with Vanessa.  John told her that he felt bullied by her when she went after him over his supposed relationship with Clay.  As usual, Vanessa freaked out and started talking a mile a minute.  John told her that he doesn’t like it when she cries and yells at people.  Vanessa yelled back that she never yells at people.

John is a better observer than people give him credit for.  He knows that Vanessa always yells at the people who are about to be evicted.  As such, when Liz nominated him and Becky for eviction, he knew that he was the target.

Here’s the good news.  John may no longer be the target.

Even after John was nominated, Vanessa could not stop freaking out.  She run up to the HoH room and lied to Austin and the twins, telling them that John had declared that he was going to come after them.  She then went on to say that John was screaming at her, that his face turned red, that’s he’s bi-polar, and that he’s dangerous because he listens to rap music and death metal.

As usual, Vanessa went too far.  Austin and the twins realized that she was lying about John.  Meg later talked to Austin, telling him all of the lies that Vanessa has been telling in the house.  And finally, John went up stairs and talked to Austin and the Hate Twins.  He told them everything that Vanessa has been doing.  John spent a lot of time talking to them and, while talk in the Big Brother House is cheap, it appears that John may have saved himself.

After John left, the Hate Twins agreed that they now trusted John and that, once again, they did not trust Vanessa.  Unfortunately, the Hate Twins also decided that they couldn’t backdoor Vanessa because it’s good to have a big target around the house.

So, as of now, it appears that the new target is Becky.

(The Hate Twins also feel that they can use their “hotness” to control John, whereas they can’t do that with Becky.  Yes, they actually said that.)

So, unless Becky wins the veto, it looks like she might be heading to the jury house on Thursday.

Big Brother 17: Go Away, Steve!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 14, 2015

Hi, everyone:

So, was everyone else as annoyed by last night’s Double Eviction as I was?  I swear, every time I start to get genuinely excited about this group of Houseguests, they do something stupid.

Now, personally, I don’t think it was a mistake to get rid of Shelli.  Shelli was a bigger threat to win HoH than Vanessa and there was every reason to believe that, since it was a double eviction, they could just evict Vanessa right after they evicted Shelli.

BUT NO!

It didn’t work out that way,

Unfortunately, the biggest waste of space in the Big Brother House — Steve — won the HoH competition.  Steve is the so-called genius who cannot think for himself.  He’s the so-called Big Brother superfan who has apparently never seen an episode of Big Brother.  Steve is the creepy weirdo who wanders around the house talking to himself.

And what’s weird is that production seems to love Steve.  One consistent thing about the CBS show is that there’s always at least a few minutes devoted to Steve doing something silly.  It’s as if the show is trying to fool us into thinking that Steve is another Ian.  But those of us who have seen the live feeds know the truth.  STEVE IS USELESS!

I have a theory.  I think that originally, this season was supposed to be all about Audrey.  She was the production favorite, the one who was supposed to win it all.  But then Audrey turned out to be a — with all apologies to Becky — total trainwreck.  She got evicted and you’ll notice that once it was obvious that the production favorite wasn’t going to last, the whole BB Takeover twist ended.  Am I suggesting that the whole Takeover Twist was just designed as way to potentially protect Grodner’s favorites?  Yes, I am.

But anyway, without Audrey around, production had to find a new favorite.  They flirted a bit with Shelli and Clay but then those two ended up being way too vapid.  Vanessa was briefly a favorite but then she turned out to be way too crazy.  So now, I think that Steve is the new favorite.  The CBS show was determined to make us like Steve or, at the very least, disguise the fact that Steve is useless.

But last night, during the live show, there was no editing to protect Steve.  We saw him in all of his useless glory.  We saw him talking to himself.  We saw how, even after he won HoH, none of the other HGs wanted a thing to do with him.  We saw the real Steve.

And you know what?  The real Steve really needs to shave.  But, beyond that, he also needs to grow a pair because his HoH reign was PATHETIC!  Instead of going after Vanessa or breaking up a power couple, he nominated Meg and Jackie.  When Johnny Mac won the veto, Steve apparently asked John not to use it.

Why?

Because Steve really did want to get rid of Jackie!  Apparently, Vanessa told him that Jackie was going to come after him.  So, Steve stunned almost everyone with his useless nominations.  And then Jackie was evicted.  (Austin was so surprised that he even forgot to mention his stupid alter ego while casting his vote.)

So, Shelli and Jackie was the first two members of the jury but, apparently, they will both have a chance to reeneter the game.  Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of jury members reenetering the game but, if John is evicted this week or next, I will quickly change my mind.

To make last night even worse, Liz won the next HoH competition and…

BLEH!

That’s right, Liz is HoH.  And while the Hate Twins are jumping up and down and cheering in their oddly mannish voices, Vanessa and Austin are the real power behind the throne.  As of right now, it appears that Becky and John are going up on the block and Becky is the target.

By the way, last night, Liz, Vanessa, Austin, and Julia all agreed that they need to change the name of the Freaks and Geeks Alliance.  Liz suggested they call themselves the “Nerd Herd,” because she’s an idiot who has never seen any previous seasons of Big Brother.

On a final note, I can’t wait to see Steve evicted.  WHAT A LOSER!

Big Brother 17: Sighing With Frustration…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 12, 2015

Hi, everyone!

Well, I am just sitting here and sighing with frustration.  On the one hand, I can’t help but be happy that this season has finally started to get interesting.  The houseguests seem to have finally figured out that they’re on Big Brother, which means that they have to plot and scheme and deal and fight and win.

On the other hand, my favorite HG appears to be in some trouble.  Listen, I know that Johnny Mac is not exactly the greatest player in the history of the game.  But he’s fun to watch, he’s likable, he’s got a big personality and it’s hard not to feel that the show would be a lot less entertaining without him.

But, it looks like John is in trouble.  He was talking to Becky earlier today and he told her, “If Shelli goes home on Thursday, I have to pull out a W.”  And yes, that’s true.  There’s a new power alliance emerging in the Big Brother House and sadly, John is not a member of it.

As of right now, it appears that Shelli will be going on Thursday.  James told Vanessa that he, Meg, and Jackie would vote to keep her if she could get the votes of Austin and the twins.  Vanessa, of course, scurried off to Austin and made the deal.  So now, it appears that Vanessa is safe.  And everyone knows about the plan, except for Becky, John, Steve, and Shelli.

(James says that they’ll tell Becky on Thursday morning.  I’ll be surprised if Vanessa can stay silent long enough to keep Becky from finding out before then.)

Several side deals were made.  The big one was that Vanessa promised not to target James, Meg, and Jackie.  So, if Vanessa somehow wins HoH during the double eviction and stay true to the deal, that seriously reduces her options for who she can nominate.  I doubt she would nominate Austin or the twins.  And Steven is her little puppy dog.  So, that means that she would probably nominate Becky and John.

James also made a final 6 deal with Austin (BLEH!).  That final 6: James, Austin, Meg, Jackie, Liz, and Julia.  That leaves Vanessa, Becky, John, and Steve on the outside of the main alliance.

And again, this is the way that Big Brother was meant to be played.  But still, I’m a little sad to see that John is on the outside and Austin on the inside.

However, alliances chances on a dime in the Big Brother House.  I can easily imagine both Austin and James going back on their word.  So, hope is not lost!

But, right now, it does appear that Shelli will be the first member of the jury and Vanessa will survive for at least one more week.

Big Brother 17: Another Change of Plans

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 11, 2015

Hi, everyone!

Well, as I sit here writing this, I am sincerely frustrated.  It looked like Vanessa and her wool hat were on the verge of being evicted.  I was looking forward to watching Vanessa have a melt down after learning that she had been unanimously evicted from the house.  I would no longer have to listen to Vanessa over analyze everything.  The house would be free of her paranoid conspiracy theories.  No longer would Vanessa spend hours talking about nothing.

And don’t get me wrong.  I know that, at first, Vanessa was good for drama.  I know that she kept the show from getting too boring but, as far as that’s concerned, she had pretty much fulfilled her purpose.  With no one in the house taking her seriously, Vanessa is no longer a real power player.  Now, she’s just a wool hat-wearing shell of her former self.  She had her chance.  She had a fairly good run.  But this week seemed like the perfect time to see Vanessa evicted.

Even if Vanessa’s supposed allies — Austin, the twins, and Steve — voted to keep her, that would still only lead to a tie vote.  And Becky has made it pretty clear that she wants Vanessa gone.

However, the best laid plans of mice and HoHs often change.

Last night, Meg, James, and Jackie were having a conversation in the Have Not room.  Meg pointed out that Shelli is a much bigger threat than Vanessa.  James and Jackie came around to agreeing with her.  The three of them are seriously considering joining up with Austin and the twins and voting to keep Vanessa.  (Steve wants to keep Vanessa but, ultimately, he’s going to vote however the majority is voting.)  If this happens, that will leave John as the only guaranteed vote against Vanessa.

(Considering how paranoid Vanessa is about John, there’s no way that he’s going to vote to keep her.)

So, now, we’re looking at the following possibility for Thursday:

Becky is betrayed by her alliance.

Shelli goes to the jury house.

Vanessa stays in the house.

And, of course, it’s a double eviction so someone will be following Shelli out the door.

To be honest, it does make a lot of sense to vote out Shelli first.  Shelli is a lot stronger than Vanessa.  Vanessa sucks at comps, whereas Shelli is always a contender.  So, yes, it makes sense.  And if I was in the house, I would probably vote out Shelli before going after Vanessa.

But, as a viewer, it’s frustrating.  BECAUSE VANESSA AND HER WOOL HAT ARE SO ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING!

But, oh well.  It is double eviction time so, even if Shelli does become this week’s target, we still may see Vanessa walk out the door on Thursday.

Here’s hoping!

Big Brother 17: I Can’t Wait Until It’s Thursday!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 10, 2015

Hi, everyone!  Just a quick update because y’all know how crazy my Mondays are.  (Making it even crazier is the fact that it’s like a 120 degrees today!  BLEH!)

But anyway, here’s the important stuff:

They had the veto meeting earlier today.  It is true that, last night, there was a moment when Steve was considering not even using the veto.  I guess he thought that the Houseguests would keep him over Shelli and, by not using the veto, he could avoid getting anyone angry.

(But seriously, if you have the veto and you don’t use it to take yourself off the block then you deserve to go home.)

However, Steve came to his senses!  This morning, he used the veto on himself and Becky nominated Vanessa in his place!

And I really can’t wait to see that veto meeting play out on Wednesday because, apparently, Vanessa was taken pretty much by surprise.  I’ve been at work all day and tonight, I’m going to be out dancing so I really haven’t had time to study the feeds but I have seen a few little clips that make it pretty obvious that, after she was nominated, Vanessa totally freaked out.  Apparently, Becky said some pretty harsh things to her while nominating her.  Vanessa’s initial response was to sob and to repeatedly demand to know why.  Becky told her it was because she felt that Vanessa had insulted her by 1) questioning her loyalty and 2) pointing a finger at her while asking Becky if she could be trusted.

Vanessa’s been running around the house and begging for sympathy.  In typical Vanessa fashion, she’s been coming on way too strong and, strangely enough, she seems to be blame Shelli for being renominated.  She even went as far as to tell Shelli that Shelli owed everything that she has in the house to Vanessa.  Needless to say, Shelli did not appreciate that.

(Vanessa and Shelli have promised not to campaign against each other but I doubt that will last.)

Right now, Vanessa believes that Austin, Liz, Julia, Steve, and James will all vote to keep her.  However, James has told everyone in his alliance that he’s going to vote to evict Vanessa and Austin has already told both Liz and Julia that there’s no way that Vanessa is not going to be voted out on Thursday.  Hence, it makes sense for the three of them to go with the house and not make any waves.

(For the first time, Austin seems to understand that he and his allies are no longer in control of the house and that the Sixth Sense Alliance is as good as dead.)

So, if Vanessa is lucky, she might Steven’s vote.  But, considering how determined almost everyone else is to get rid of Vanessa, it would not surprise me if Steve decides to just go with the house as well.

Imagine Vanessa’s reaction is she’s sent out on a unanimous vote?

I can’t wait until Thursday!

Lisa Marie

P.S. If Vanessa is voted out on Thursday, it appears that the house will be evenly divided as far as alliances go.  It’ll be James/Jackie/John/Meg/Becky vs. Shelli/Austin/Liz/Julia/Steve.  (Steve has already said that he’s planning on throwing the next HoH competition.)  Hence, this week’s double eviction will be even more important than it has been in previous seasons.

Again, I can’t wait ’til Thursday!

Big Brother 17: Isn’t it weird?

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 9, 2015

Hi, everyone!

Well, here we are on another Sunday night.  If you’re like me, you just watched tonight’s episode of Big Brother and you saw a recap of the James/Clay fight, you saw a little of Vanessa’s meltdown, you saw Becky winning HoH, and you saw her nominating Shelli and Steven.

It was a pretty good episode, I thought.  I was happy that they did show the Clay/James fight because that fight really did lead to Clay being voted out over Shelli.  I laughed when Meg was talking about how annoying Shelli was being.  (I get the feeling that Shelli enjoyed high school so much that she decided to stop maturing after graduating.)  I enjoyed seeing John actually thinking about playing the game.  After all this time, it’s a bit of relief to know that John actually does realize that he is playing a game and that he does need to get people out of the house.

And yet, at the same time, I was not totally happy with tonight’s episode.  It’s weird to watch the CBS show when you know what’s actually going on inside of the house.  First off, there’s the fact that we already know that Shelli and Vanessa are going to be sitting next to each other on the block come Thursday.  So, it was hard not to laugh a little when Vanessa said that her main goal was to make sure that she and Shelli were not both nominated this week.

But even beyond that, it’s always interesting to see how the CBS show chooses to present what’s happening inside of the house.  For the longest time, I’ve felt that the Big Brother editors are going way too easy on Vanessa.  While tonight’s show did acknowledge that Vanessa is unpredictable, it came nowhere close to showing just how crazy she’s been acting inside the house.  If you only watched the CBS show, you would have no idea that Vanessa is convinced that John and Clay are related (or more).  You would have no ides that both Vanessa and Austin are obsessed with the idea of someone in the house being America’s Player.

It’s not as bad as past seasons, where the show went out of its way not to show anything negative about either Frankie or Amanda.  But still, it’s hard not to feel that, when compared to what we all know is happening in the house, Vanessa, Clay, and Shelli have all been given surprisingly positive edits.

As of right now, it looks like Vanessa is going to be the renom on Monday.  And she will probably be the first person evicted during Thursday’s double eviction episode.   People who have only seen the CBS show will think that Vanessa’s being evicted solely because she’s a strong player.  However, those of us who follow the LFs, know that Vanessa is also being evicted because she has managed to get on everyone’s last nerve.

As for what’s happening the house — when last I checked, Vanessa was paranoid about being the renom but Becky told her that no, Johnny Mac would probably be the replacement.  However, Becky’s definitely appears to be planning on backdooring Vanessa.

So, if the all goes as planned, Vanessa, Shelli, and maybe Austin will be shocked on Monday.  It should make for some good drama!

Lisa Marie

P.S. I know that there’s a rumor that James has been selected as America’s Player.  Apparently, there was an audio leak while James was in the diary room and James was heard to say, “Hey, an America’s Player envelope!”  A producer then said, “Congratulations.”  James then stayed in the Diary Room for over an hour.

Well, there may have been an envelope in the Diary Room (we didn’t see James in the DR, we just heard him for a few seconds) but I just find it hard to believe that Big Brother would do an America’s Player twist without making a HUGE deal about it.

Big Brother often keeps secrets from the HGs but there’s nothing to be gained from hiding a twist from the audience.

So, in other words, I’ll believe James is America’s Player when I see some definite proof.  Instead, I imagine James was probably making a joke and the producer was being sarcastic.

BB17 — THE CORRECT VETO RESULTS!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 8, 2015

Whoops!

Two minutes ago, I posted that Becky won POV.  Sorry — my mistake.  I misheard the LFs and I misread twitter.  Becky did not win the POV but she’s still really happy and so is James.  It turns out that Steve won the veto!

That’s right — Steve finally did not throw a competition!

So, Steve will be taking himself off the block and, as of right now, it appears that Becky will be replacing him with Vanessa.

So, to recap:

Becky is HoH.

Steve and Shelli are on the block.

Steve won the POV.

The plan is to backdoor Vanessa.

Okay, I think I got it correct now.  I apologize for the error. 🙂
