Big Brother 17 — What a Time To Be On Holiday!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 6, 2015

Hi!  As I mentioned earlier, I’m visiting with family this weekend and I’ve been away from the live feeds.  And while I love my family, I’m also looking forward to getting a chance to see what I’ve missed in the house.  Just reading about it, it sounds like it’s been quite a feast for the feedsters!

Anyway, I’m going just post a quick summary of what I’ve read and heard and if I make any mistakes, please feel free to correct me in the comments.  (Thank you to everyone who commented last night and kept us updated with what you were seeing.)

Here’s my understanding of what’s happened:

Yesterday, they had the veto comp.  It was hosted by Jessie the Bodybuilder (remember him?).  Austin is convinced that Jessie was selected as host specifically because Austin is a huge Jessie fan.  (Yes, Sasquatch, everything is about you.)  Austin won the power of veto and apparently, he spent several hours with the veto medallion hanging around his neck.

Liz apparently spent all of yesterday sobbing and cursing Austin’s name.  Apparently, she and Julia feel that Austin should have thrown the veto and allowed Julia to win it, which would have made all three of them safe.  Liz also seems to feel that Austin should use the veto on her but instead, he’s going to use it on himself and Julia is going to go up as a replacement nominee.

Austin apparently begged Liz to forgive him and tried to convince her to go make a deal with Steve but, at the same time he was doing that, he was not smart enough to take off the stupid veto medallion.  When Liz refused to speak with him, Austin begged Vanessa to go plead his case for him.

(Apparently, Vanessa gave Liz and Julia advice on how to play the veto.  And the advice didn’t work out well.  Liz and Julia are so busy being angry with Austin that it hasn’t occurred to them that Vanessa purposefully gave them bad advice because she knew that Julia won the veto, Vanessa would be the replacement nominee.)

Vanessa explained why Austin was so happy when he won the veto but apparently, she spent most of her time getting both the twins to agree to work with her after the next eviction.

Austin then made the twins a special dinner — chicken and vegetables that he arranged in the shape of a heart.  The twins sent the plate back, untouched.

Right now, it seems pretty definite that Julia is going to be nominated in Austin’s place.  Liz and Julia spent a lot of time debating which one of them had a better chance of winning the game.  (Even though it’s totally against the rules, the twins appear to be planning to split the prize money between themselves.)  With Vanessa’s help, they agreed that there’s no way Julia could possibly win.

Meanwhile, Steve apparently has yet to say which of the twins he wants gone, saying that they can decide that later in the week.  (To me, Liz is the obvious choice but with this group of houseguests, who knows…)

Anyway, I think it’s important to note here that Liz and Julia were specifically recruited to be on the show.  One reason why I hate it when Big Brother specifically recruits players is because recruited houseguests always have a terrible sense of entitlement.  They figure that since they were asked to appear on the show, that means that they are also guaranteed to win it.  It leads to a terrible sense of entitlement.  (Case in point: Frankie Grande.)  What we’re seeing with Liz and Julia right now is a perfect example of entitlement gone crazy.

Have a great holiday!

Big Brother 17 — Karma Attacks

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 5, 2015

Hi everyone!

Well, I’m going to be spending the holiday weekend with family so I’m about to leave.  But, before I go, here’s a quick update on what is happening in the Big Brother house!

So, yesterday, new HoH Steve did exactly what he said he was going to do.  He nominated Austin and Liz for eviction.  And Liz totally and completely lost it!  Apparently, she was so upset at being nominated that she stood up and walked out on Steve’s nomination speech.  She spent most of yesterday sobbing.  At one point, she told Austin that she’s an “ugly crier,” and you know what?  She’s right.

Liz mentioned several reasons why she’s upset.  She claimed that she and Julia have repeatedly fought to keep Steve in the house.  She claimed that Steve swore on his family that he would not nominate her or her sister.  She said that it wasn’t fair that she was nominated because, as HoH, she was not eligible to compete.  Liz especially said that it’s not fair that she’s been nominated along with Austin, one of the few people in the house who would vote to keep her.  Liz said a lot of things but basically it all comes down to Liz being entitled and not understanding how the game works.

And, honestly, I usually hate to see anyone cry but it’s next to impossible for me to feel any sympathy for Liz.  This the same Liz who mocked Clay and Shelli for getting upset when they were put on the block together.  This is the same Liz who made fun of Meg for crying when she was evicted and who then, along with her sister, went out of her way to throw Meg’s stuff around during the veto competition.  This is the same Liz who has bragged about how much she enjoys taping “mean goodbye messages.”

Sorry, Liz.  No sympathy.

The POV comp is later today.  The best scenario for Liz would be to have Julia win the veto.  That would also be the worst scenario for Vanessa because she would probably be the replacement nominee.  Perhaps that’s why, last night, Vanessa was trying to convince both Liz and Julia to throw the veto comp.

As for Austin — well, he’s acting like Austin.  At the same time, I will give him some credit for not behaving as badly as some of us assumed her would once he was finally nominated.  He did tell Liz that if either one of them is evicted, all the live feeders will cancel their accounts because all of them love him and Liz so much.

(Sorry, Austin — you’re thinking of James and Meg!)

The veto comp is later today!  And it might be the most important veto so far.  If Julia wins that veto and takes off Liz, it’ll be the end of the game for either Vanessa or Johnny Mac.  If Austin or someone else wins the veto, it’ll mean that, come Thursday, the house will contain one less twin.

Big Brother 17 — About Last Night

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 4, 2015

Hi everyone.

It’s hard for me to write about last night.  It was hard for me to watch it and, even now that I’ve gotten some sleep, it’s still difficult for me to think about.

Last night, as a result of a double eviction that saw Meg and James go home, I know that hundreds of people — some of whom are very close to me — canceled their live feeds and declared that they would never watch Big Brother again.  Even past Big Brother contestants — everyone from Dan Gheesling to Evel Dick to Jun Song to … well, everyone — popped up on twitter and let everyone know that they hate this season and they hate Austin and the twins.

(Most of them don’t like Vanessa either but it’s Austin and the twins who especially seem to set people off.  I know they set me off.)

I have to admit that, in the past, Jun was one of my least favorite winners but, this season, I find myself agreeing with her more and more.  She pointed out, on twitter, that the competitions seem to be incredibly dumbed down this season and, quite frankly, I think she’s right.  Jun thinks that the competitions were simplified because everyone knows that the HGs (especially, in Jun’s opinion, the twins) are too stupid to follow any complicated rules.

And last night, both Liz and Julia looked pretty confused whenever Julie explained anything to them.  But then again, Liz and Julia always look confused.

*sigh*

Okay, here’s what happened.  Steve and Johnny Mac spent a lot of time talking about how now was the time to flip the house but, when it actually came time to do so, they voted with the majority and Meg was sent to jury.  Then Liz won HoH and nominated James and John.  And then Julia won the veto.  (James didn’t even try to compete for the veto — Meg’s eviction obviously really hit him hard.)  James gave a heartfelt pre-eviction speech.  John said something stupid and laughed.  James was voted out.

The most disgusting part of last night’s episode?  After James left, Austin ran over and threw his arms around Liz.  (Liz had a look of horror and disgust on her face.)  And then he refused to let her go.

At that moment, I wanted to just say, “Forget this season!  I’m outta here!”  I mean, seriously — why should I spend another month watching a bunch of people who I absolutely hate?  (I do still like John but I’m not as big a fan as I used to be.)  With James and Meg gone, let’s recap who is left:

Vanessa.  Professional poker player who has no idea how to apply makeup and who always appears to be on the verge of having a panic attack.

Steve.  Weirdo who spends all of his time talking to himself and begging his mom to tell him what to do.  Sorry, Steve — cowardly mamma’s boys are not really a turn-on.

Austin.  Big.  Muscular.  Pretentious.  Clingy.  Smelly.

Liz.  Idiot.

Julia.  Idiot.

Johnny Mac. I still like Johnny Mac but I’m over him being silly and then not doing anything.

I was prepared to abandon all of them but I didn’t.  Why?  First off, I made a commitment to this site and I honor my commitments.  Secondly, after two months of this, I do feel like I need some sort of closure, even if it means someone who I hate ends up winning the game.  Third, there’s a certain appeal to watching terrible people turn against each other.

Anyway, here’s a glimmer of hope for everyone:

Steve is the new HoH!  And yes, I can’t stand Steve but I’d rather he be HoH than Austin, Julia, or Vanessa.  Steve is apparently planning on nominating Austin and Liz for eviction.

And if he does … well, no, I’ll still dislike him.  But I will be happy to finally see Austin and Liz have to fight for their place in the house!

Lisa Marie

P.S. One thing to worry about.  Steve had a crush on Julia.  If Austin or Liz wins veto, would he be willing to do the smart thing and nominate Julia?  Or would he resort to backdooring John?

Big Brother 17 — What A Bunch Of Losers

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 2, 2015

Hi, everyone!

Well, I’m watching Big Brother right now.  I’ll be curious to see how CBS edits together everything that’s happening in the house right now.  It’s always interesting to see how different the CBS show is from the live feeds.  If you only watched the CBS show, you would think that Vanessa is a master manipulator.  (She’s good but she’s no master.)  You would have no idea how vile Liz and Julia can really be when they are in full mean girl mode.  You would have no idea what a little rat Steve is.  However, you would still know that Austin is a pig.  There’s really no way to disguise that.

And what a pig!  Seriously, as Austin has grown more and more confident about his place in the game, he has gotten worse and worse.  I mean, he started out pretty bad but now, he seems to be convinced that 1) America loves him and 2) Big Brother needs him more than he needs Big Brother.  Over the past two days, I have twice seen Austin yelling at and cursing out the producers when Liz was asked to clean something.  And, then when Liz was jumping rope in the backyard, Austin actually walked up to a camera and told the live feeders not to stare at his girlfriend.  And, finally, when Vanessa asked Austin if he would be willing to vote out Liz, he replied that he would because, “we’re not married … yet.”

GET OVER YOURSELF, AUSTIN!

What’s funny is that Liz recently had a conversation with Julia in which she told her that Austin smelled bad and that she wasn’t planning on having a thing to do with him after the game.

And really, at this point, Austin getting dumped is the only thing that I’m looking forward to.  I really shouldn’t say this since I write about the show but I simply cannot wait for this season to be over.  I don’t ever want to see any of these losers ever again!

(Wow, I just looked up at the TV and Vanessa has got terrible skin!  Close-ups do her no favors.)

Anyway, as for Operation Trojan Horse, James tried his best but it’s pretty much a bust.  John showed some interest but then again, it’s rare that John doesn’t show interest when a plan is offered to him.  (I love Johnny Mac but I’m tired of him never following through.)  Meg tried to talk to Austin and Austin told her that there was no way he could vote out Liz’s sister.

So, in other words, Meg is a goner.

The big news, last night, was that someone got a megaphone and started shouting something like, “AMERICA WANTS JULIA OUT!” over the Big Brother fence.  Unfortunately, only John, James, and Meg were in the back yard and they misheard it as “AUSTIN WANTS TO JULIA OUT!”  So, I appreciate the intentions of the megaphone people but they should have tried to be a bit more clear in what they were shouting.  Because now James and Meg have been given reason to believe that Austin might be more interested in Operation Trojan Horse than he actually is.

Anyway, tomorrow is a double eviction.  As much as I wish it wasn’t true, it looks like Julia will be staying while Meg is going to be sent to the jury.  Hopefully, James will win that HoH and use it to break up Austin and the twins.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed on this!

Big Brother 17 — Operation Trojan Horse

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 1, 2015

Hi everyone!

So, James has come up with a plan to save Meg.  He explained it to her last night and he’s trying to put it into motion today.  He calls it Operation Trojan Horse and I have mixed feelings about it.

First off, it bothers me that James had to come up with this plan all on his own and that he’s the one who is going to have to do all the hard work.  Considering how upset Meg was after Vanessa told her that she was going to jury, I would have liked to have seen a little bit of fighting spirit out of Meg.  I would have liked to see her immediately start planning and scheming a way to stay in the house.  Instead, she pretty much just gave up.

Secondly, there’s a huge flaw in James’s plan but first, here’s the plan.

James is going to approach Austin and ask him to vote to evict Julia.  The argument that James is going to make is that Julia is going to have to leave at some point and that Vanessa and Liz would assume that Steve must have cast the vote to evict Julia.  Then they could all team up to take out Steve.

If James can get Austin on board, he’ll then go to Johnny Mac and let John know about the plan.  John would then vote for Julia.  The final vote would be 3 for Julia and 2 for Meg.  Julia would be sent to jury and everyone would blame Steve.

Well, the flaw is obvious.  James is putting way too much trust in Austin.  Not only do I doubt that Austin would break up his alliance with the twins but chances are, Austin is going to run off and tell Steve about the plan.  That will probably end whatever chance that James has of ever forming an alliance with Steve and John and it will also make James a target for everyone going into the Double Eviction.

A far better (and simpler) plan would be to try to sway John and Steve.  Going to Austin is probably the biggest mistake that James can make.

Still, I respect the fact that James is at least trying to play the game.  But I’m worried that Operation Trojan Horse will end with him following Meg right out the door.

We’ll see what happens on Thursday!

Big Brother 17 — Don’t Get Too Excited Just Yet…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 31, 2015

Hi, everyone!

So, here’s my quick Monday update.  As always, please forgive the breifness of this update.  Mondays are always crazy.

ANYWAY, they held the veto meeting today.  James took himself off the block.  Vanessa nominated Julia in his place.

Now, from what I’ve seen on both twitter and Facebook, a lot of people are really excited because they think that there’s a chance that Steven and JMac might team up with James to keep Meg and vote out Julia.

As someone who has been bored with this season and would love for some real drama to happen in the house, I would love to see this happen.  A lot of people are pointing out that Liz has said that she will self-evict if Julia gets sent to the jury and Austin has occasionally said that the only thing he cares about is being with Liz.  If Liz isn’t in the jury house or the Big Brother house, then he might self-evict too!  Or, at least, that’s what a lot of people are speculating might happen.

As I said, I’d love to see this happen but it probably won’t.  First off, Liz may say that she’ll self-evict but I doubt that she would actually do it.  She’s having too much fun being the Queen of the House and she has also said that she’s looking forward to taping more mean goodbye messages.  Liz isn’t planning on going anywhere.  I think her threat to self-evict was more about trying to scare Vanessa and trying to get people to pay attention to her.

(Julia has also said that she’ll never forgive Vanessa if she is evicted, even though Julia is the one who volunteered to go on the block.)

But, even more important, I don’t think Julia is going to be voted out.  Vanessa has made it clear that she wants Meg gone.  She even told Meg to her face that Meg is going.  (Meg has been crying ever since.)  Steve and JMac may talk about how they have to get rid of Austin and the twins but neither one of them seems to want to make a move this week.  I think, to a certain extent, they believe that by getting rid of Meg, James will have no choice but work with them.  Whereas, if they keep Meg, James will always be more likely to do what Meg wants to do.

Personally, I think it’s stupid not to get rid of a twin when you have the chance.  Austin and the twins are the strongest alliance in the house.  Both Liz and Austin would be strong contenders in a final two situation.  Voting out Julia would change the balance of power in the house, with JMac, Steve, James, and Meg suddenly having the majority alliance.

(Of course, one of those four would have to win the next HoH to keep Liz and Austin from coming after them but then again, that’s Big Brother.)

But anyway — as someone who cannot stand Bigfoot’s Angels, I can understand why people want to believe that Julia might be voted out.  But don’t get your hopes up.  Right now, based on what we’ve seen of the houseguests this sesson, I’d say that I’m 98.9% sure that Meg will be the next member of the jury.

Lisa Marie

P.S. Thursday is a double eviction but the HGs don’t seem to know that.  (They seem to think it’s next week.)  If they knew it was a double eviction, they’d probably be more likely to try to take out both Julia and Liz in the same night.  But, unfortunately, they don’t.

Big Brother 17 — Heh heh…Vanessa got in trouble…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 30, 2015

Hi y’all!

So, you know how Vanessa has been offering to give money and gifts to various houseguests (mostly the twins)?  Well, just a few minutes ago, she finally got in trouble for it.  She got called the diary room and when she emerged, she told the twins that she had been “spanked.”  She also told them that she hoped that they understood that she had only been “joking” when she attempted to bribe them.  She went on to give a speech about how Big Brother rules state that HGs cannot split the prize money and that bribery is not allowed.  She hopes that everyone understand that she was definitely not serious when she offered to do everything that she offered to do.

Sure, Vannessa.

You know, it’s fun to know that Vanessa finally got called out for some of her behavior but, quite frankly, she’s been offering people money and cars for weeks now!  And it’s only now that production got around to telling her to stop?  Could it have anything to do with the fact that everyone online is talking about Vanessa cheating in the HoH competition?

Well, regardless, it’s too little too late.  I get the feeling that if anyone other than Vanessa had done that, they would have gotten a penalty nomination or some other punishment.  I mean, they’ll give you a penalty vote if you eat while you’re a have not but attempting to bribe other houseguests?  That just gets you a warning.

Anyway, other than that, the big news in the house is that James won the veto.  And Vanessa spent all last night, freaking out.  Who could she put up in James’s place?  Could she put up Weirdo Steve?  Or maybe she should just put up Johnny Mac again?  And she went on and on about it.

And finally, while Vanessa talked to Weirdo Steve, Sasquatch, and the Hate Twins, there was finally a light at the end of the tunnel.  Julia offered to go up as a pawn.  Vanessa assured her that there was no way that she would be voted out over Meg.

And so, as of right now, it appears that Julia will be nominated on Monday.

Now, this would be a great chance to break up Sasquatch and the Hate Twins.  James, John, and Steven — if they would just work together — could easily vote out Julia and tip the balance of power in the house.

But, don’t get your hopes up.  This morning, Weirdo asked Johnny Mac if he would be willing to vote out Meg.  “Of course,” John said.  So, it looks like John wasn’t joking when he told Julie that Meg would be his target.

Hmmm…what’s the word I’m thinking of here?  Oh yes — IDIOTS!

And that’s the way it is in the Big Brother House.

Big Brother 17 — Quick Update with Veto Winner

by Lisa Marie Bowman on August 29, 2015

Hi everyone!

Okay, let me do the standard SPOILER ALERT here so that nobody accidentally wanders onto this site and reads something that they don’t want to read.

Okay, is everyone ready?

As we all know, Vanessa is HoH.  She nominated James and Meg for eviction.  James was the target.

Well, they had the veto earlier today and things weren’t looking good for James because the veto players were he, Vanessa, Meg, Austin, Julia, and Liz.  Literally everyone who wants him gone was playing for the veto.

Well, you know what?

JAMES DID IT!  HE WON THE VETO!

Vanessa is super mad right now!  She spent hours trying to figure out a way to “justify” targeting James so that she wouldn’t have any blood on our hands.  (Typical Vanessa.)  She made a big deal out of telling everyone that she wouldn’t nominate John.

And now, James has the veto and he’s going to take himself off the block.  And Vanessa has to pick a renom.  Unfortunately, I doubt she’ll go after Austin and the twins but she could very well nominate Steve and Steve could be in a lot of trouble if she does.

We’ll see what happens!  If nothing else, it should be fun to watch her freak out tonight.

Lisa Marie

Hi everyone!

So, here’s a short question for y’all.  Feel free to answer in the comments section below.

Let’s say that you’re playing a game called Big Brother.  And let’s say that you have just been evicted, largely because you didn’t have any allies in the house.  You thought you had some friends but they all just unanimously voted to evict you and decided to keep a guy that absolutely nobody trusts.

So, you’re coming out of the Big Brother House.  You’ve failed.  You’ve lost your chance to win the game.  You should be really angry, right?  I mean, the entire house spent a week lying to your face and promising that you would be safe.  As Jimmy Stewart said to Mr. Potter at the end of It’s A Wonderful Life, “You’re only mistake was that you betrayed me and left me alive!”

But then you find out that you’re going to get a chance to reenter the house!  All you have to do is hold onto a rope for the longest amount of time.  And you do it!  As you hold onto that rope, you watch the other three jurors fall.  You now know that you’re about to reeneter a house that you were just kicked out of.  And you know that the other houseguests targeted you for eviction and there’s really no reason why they shouldn’t do it again.

And suddenly, you realize that almost every other houseguest has fallen off their rope.  There’s only one other houseguest left and she happens to be the houseguest who you know has been plotting against you almost since your very first day in the house.  She’s someone who you have often said you would target if you became HoH.

And all you have to do is hold on longer than this houseguest and you will not only reeneter the house but you will be HoH!  You will have immunity!  You will have revenge!  You will have a chance to change your low position in the game!

And then that one remaining houseguest — the one who you previously called the devil — asks you to voluntarily step off the rope and allow her to be HoH.

Here’s my question.

Would you do it?  Would you voluntarily give up a chance to be safe so that your biggest enemy can be in charge of your future?

I wouldn’t but apparently, Johnny Mac would.

I swear, it is so frustrating!  I love Johnny Mac but he is SUCH A TERRIBLE PLAYER!  Vanessa did promise that John would be safe but then again, why should John trust Vanessa?  For most players, being voted out of the house would be a huge wake up call.  For John, it’s apparently just another wacky day in the Big Brother house!

Anyway, Vanessa is HoH now.  She shouldn’t be.  During the competition, the HGs were told that they were not allowed to sit down on the base at the bottom of the rope.  They were only allowed to stand on it.  As anyone who saw the live feeds knows, Vanessa did sit down on that base while spinning around on her rope.  She should have been disqualified.  Instead, she is HoH.

(It’s also interesting to note that Vanessa has often promised to give HGs presents outside of the house.  This is a clear violation of the Big Brother rules.  And again, nothing has been done.  There’s not much question about who Grodner’s favorite is this year.)

Anyway, Vanessa is currently HoH and no, she’s not going to go after the Sasquatch or the Hate Twins.  Instead, she is going to nominate James and Meg.  She’s targeting James.

BLEH!

Lisa Marie

P.S. Check this out.  Austin and Vanessa were talking about Vanessa’s ex-husband.  Vanessa mentioned that she took her husband back after he cheated on her.  Austin replied, “NO!” and then said that a real man does not cheat.  GO LOOK IN THE MIRROR, AUSTIN!
