Week 17: BOTB Spoilers

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 18, 2015

Hi, everyone!

I hope everyone’s having a great weekend.  I’m getting ready to leave to go see Ant-Man and then I’ll be coming home and watching Shark-related films on SyFy but before I do that, I wanted to give y’all a new post to comment under.  And while I’m doing that, I might as well post what you already know about the BoTB! 🙂

The BoTB was held yesterday.  John and Jason lost, which means that Shelli is once again HoH.  Shelli better be careful.  She’s devoting so much time to her fling with Clay that I don’t think she realizes that she’s getting a lot of blood on her hands.  Assuming that the rest of the HGs ever wake up and actually start to play as if they’re on a season of Big Brother — and that’s a big assumption at this point — Shelli should have a huge target on her back.

Anyway, I’m not sure if John threw the competition or if it was a legitimate loss.  I know that John told Clay that he would throw the comp but then I’ve read elsewhere that he told some other people that he was going to go out there and try to win.

The target was and pretty much still is Jason but Shelli, Clay, and Vanessa have been talking about who they should nominate in case John or Jason wins the power of veto and changes the nominations.  The main thing that I’ve gotten out of these conversations is that Vanessa is incredibly paranoid.  She has convinced herself that multiple HGs have been picked to be America’s Player and she wants them all out — among the names she has mentioned: Austin, Audrey, Becky, Steven.

(Last week, Vanessa was making a final two deal with Audrey.  Now she’s telling everyone that she can’t stand Audrey.  I’m not sure if Vanessa is trying to keep people from catching on that she and Audrey have an alliance or if Vanessa has truly changed her mind.  A part of me suspects that it’s a combination of the two because consistency is not Vanessa’s strong suit.  That said, Audrey remains the HG that nobody trusts.)

Personally, I would love to see either Austin or Audrey backdoored.  Austin is creepy and I’m always in favor of the creepy stalker types being sent out of the house.  Audrey, on the other hand, I mostly want to see evicted because she was obviously meant to be the producer’s pet this season, much as how Amanda and Frankie were during the previous two seasons.  It’s always fun to see the producer’s pet get voted out of the house.

However, I get the feeling that, if anyone is backdoored, it will probably be Becky.  I think they’re all intimidated by the fact that, unlike them, Becky actually has an inspiring backstory and that Becky survived something that the rest of them probably wouldn’t be able to handle.  (I’d like to see how wimpy Austin and Vanessa would handle getting hit by a train.  Austin can’t even handle seeing someone else talk to Liz.)

That’s it for now.  Here’s hoping that things are more interesting next week!

Big Brother 17: Week 4 Nomination Spoilers

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 17, 2015

Hi, everyone.

Just a quick update on what is currently happening in Vanessa and Clay’s playground (a.k.a., the Big Brother House).

As we all saw last night, Jeff was voted out on a 7-4 vote.  Jackie, John, Steven, and Liz voted to keep him.  I’m not sorry to see Jeff leave but now that he’s gone, Austin is officially the most disgusting guy in the house.  Austin has decided that Liz is his “girl” and seriously, it’s enough to make you want to gag.  How would he react if he knew that Liz voted to keep Jeff?

(What’s even worse is that Big Brother, as usual, portrayed Austin’s stalkerish behavior as somehow being cute.  We even got to hear Austin says, “Nobody gets between me and my twin,” in his goodbye message to Jeff.  Austin’s behavior is NOT cute.  It’s creepy and disturbing.)

The new HoHs are Shelli and Liz/Julia — which means that Vanessa and Clay are basically in charge of the house.  So, get ready for another week of the usual.

They just had the nomination ceremony.

Shelli nominated Jason and John.

Liz/Julia nominated Jackie and Jason. James.

John has again agreed to throw the BoB.  (BLEH!  I love John but seriously, I’m getting tired of this.)  Worst of all, it appears that Jason is that target this week!  Double bleh.

That’s it for now.  We’ll see what happens with the BoB.

Big Brother 17: The Diary Room Is Now Open!!!!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 16, 2015

Hi, sorry for the delay in opening up the diary room!

It is now open so, either in the comments section or using the poll over on the right side of the screen, cast your vote to evict now.  Do you vote to evict…

JAMES, the self-described Asian Cowboy

or

JEFF, the man who makes us all go, “Ewwwwww?”

Cast your vote now!

{ Comments on this entry are closed }

Hi, eveyone!

Well, give up on any hope of their being any sort of surprise on Thursday.  As of right now, it appears that the only person who is going to be surprised if Jeff.  Jeff apparently thinks that he might have enough votes to stay in the house.  However, as of right now, it appears that Jeff will only get two votes: one from Jackie and one from John.

Why is John voting for Jeff?  John told Steve that he was voting to evict James because Jeff has never been rude to him.  If that’s truly the case, then John is a unique case.  Jeff has managed to offend almost everyone in the house, from the women to the guys.  Apparently, he even told Steve to shut up at one point.

In fact, looking over Jeff’s behavior in the house, I have to ask myself the same question that I asked while watching Jace.  Is Jeff just stupid?  More than any other reality show, Big Brother is a social game.  You can get through the entire Amazing Race without ever talking to any of the other racers.  If you’re good around camp and can keep the fire burning, you can get away with being a jerk on Survivor.  But on Big Brother, you have to be able to get along with others.

(Even the obvious production favorites, like Amanda and Frankie Grande, were eventually taken down by their inability to play nice.)

Of course, Jeff didn’t actually apply to be on Big Brother.  Instead, both he and Jackie were specifically recruited for the show and, as a result, they both entered the house with a certain attitude of entitlement.

That attitude certainly isn’t working out for them now.

Speaking of entitlement, Austin seems to think that, because he likes her, Liz is now his property.  Liz has shown absolutely no interest in him (and neither has Julia).  In fact, earlier today, Liz specifically told Austin that she would not have a showmance in the house.  Vanessa also told Austin that Steve likes Liz (despite the fact that Steve said nothing like that — Vanessa is stirring up trouble) and Austin replied that “nobody gets between me and my twins.”

BLEH!

Once we get rid of Jeff, can Austin (and Judis) follow?

Anyway, the eviction is tomorrow!  Enjoy watching John Mc win his 2nd veto tonight!

Big Brother 17: Let’s Dance!

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 14, 2015

Hi, everyone!

Let’s dance, because there’s not actually much to talk about as far as the house is concerned.  (Add to that, as a part of the BB Takeover, the houseguests had to do some dancing and take part in the most boring hot tub party ever.)  John is off the block.  Jeff is on the block.  Jeff is the target.  Jeff is going home and he won’t be missed by anyone except maybe Jackie.  Though, to be honest, it’s debatable how much Jackie cares about Jeff at this point.  As paranoid as Austin and others in the house are about Jeff and Jackie and as convinced as some of them are that Jeff and Jackie are a part of some secret twist, the fact of the matter is that Jeff has basically been a blowhard and Jackie has been invisible.

Will that change after Jeff is voted out?  Probably not.  From what little Jackie has said inside the house, it’s obvious that her main concern is being on TV.  She doesn’t seem to be that interested in playing the game.  Instead, she wants to become a professional reality contestant, like Rachel Reilly and Jeff and Jordan.  Of course, what Jackie is failing to take into account is that all of those people actually have a personality.

(As annoying as she may be, you can’t deny that Rachel is not someone you forget.)

I really can’t complain about people going on reality TV to be a star.  It’s a normal human reaction but, at the same time, it always seems like it’s the people you least expect who end up becoming reality stars.  Austin is trying hard but, ultimately, he just doesn’t have the charisma necessary.  Jackie thinks she’s trying but it takes more than just being pretty.  The show has made an attempt to turn Audrey into this season’s star but the robotic way she reads her lines in the diary room have sabotaged those efforts.

Who has emerged as a star this season?  John Mc, the superstar dentist.  And who would have guessed that?

Anyway, it looks like its going to be another predictable week in the house.  Last night, Vanessa and Audrey did make a final two alliance and they swore to each other that this alliance would be their real alliance, as opposed to the hundreds of other fake alliances that have started in the house since this season began.

Is the Vanessa/Audrey final two deal for real?  Or will it be forgotten as soon as this week ends?

I’m leaning towards the latter but we’ll see!

Lisa Marie

P.S. Da’Vonne is out of the house and apparently back on twitter.  Here’s what she tweeted earlier about the house:

@DayDaVonne_bb17: Never saw a season where showmances, duos, alliances, & TWINS were NOT considered targets. #‎bb17‬ ‪#‎AdultSummerCamp‬

Personally, I think she has a point.  Considering how many of the houseguests swear that they are Big Brother fanatics, few of them seem to have the slightest idea how to play the game.

Big Brother 17: POV Ceremony Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 13, 2015

Hi, everyone.

It’s Monday, which means I’m running around all over the place.  So, forgive this quick little update.  I’m just going to post the results of the POV ceremony and then I’ll turn it over to all of you in the comments to analyze just what  exactly it all means.

So, the POV ceremony was held today.  John did use the veto.  Jeff was nominated as the replacement.  I haven’t gotten a chance to watch any of the live feeds today but, from what I’ve read, it appears that Jeff already knew that he was going to be the replacement nomination so there wasn’t a lot of drama at the ceremony.

Jackie, understandably, is not happy.  I get the feeling that the only reason she agreed to be on Big Brother was so she could spend time with Jeff.  And now, she’s facing the prospect of being stuck in the house with a bunch of people who she has little in common with.

Anyway, gotta run.  Have a great Monday, everyone!

Big Brother 17: Vanessa’s Plan

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 12, 2015

It’s an odd situation.  Everyone in the house is paranoid about Audrey.  Nobody trusts her.  She freaked everyone out by playing the game way too hard during the first week, forming a gigantic alliance and saying stuff like, “Come with me or you’ll be voted out of the house.”  Over the past three weeks, Audrey has done and said things that, in any previous season, would have gotten her voted out of the house.

It’s not surprising that everyone in the house says that they want Audrey to be nominated so she can be voted out.  But, it appears that no one wants to be the person who actually nominates her.  I think the houseguests are convinced that, on the CBS show, Audrey is being portrayed as this season’s hero and they’re concerned that whoever puts her up for nomination will be hated by the viewers.   (The majority of the houseguests are convinced that someone has been selected to be America’s Player.  At first, a lot of them thought it was Steve but now they think it’s Audrey.  What they don’t realize is that Audrey comes across as being just as flaky on the CBS show as she does on the Live Feeds.)  Hence, someone like Austin — who has said that his main concern is promoting his career — is not going to be want to be known as the guy who backdoored Audrey.

So, once again, this week finds almost the entire house saying that they want to backdoor Audrey and the HoH deciding to go after someone else.  That’s not really a complaint, though.  Vanessa has apparently decided that she wants to backdoor Jeff and that’s fine with me.  Audrey may be a flake who is obviously the producer’s favorite but Jeff is a disgusting pig.  I’d much rather see Jeff voted out than Audrey.

Vanessa is a bit of a wildcard, seeing as how she seems to always be going back and forth between being excessively emotional or excessively robotic.  (No wonder a lot of people think Vanessa must have a twin in the house.)  However, as HoH, she has at least shown that she’s capable of thinking strategically.

Originally, her target was James.  She nominated John and James.  John, once again, threw the battle of the block.  However, John then proceeded to win the power of veto.  Naturally, he’s going to use it on himself and Vanessa is going to have to nominate someone in his place.

At first, it looked like she was just going to put up another pawn (like Shelli did with Meg).  But, instead, Vanessa has now decided to nominate Jeff and to get him out of there.  And that’s a smart move on her part because it will split up Jeff and Jackie and take a power couple out of the game.

(That said, I think that Shelli and Clay are a far more dangerous couple than Jeff and Jackie could ever be.)

Vanessa, however, has been told by everyone that Audrey should be her target.  So, last night, Audrey and Austin spent a lot of time trying to make Jeff into the house pariah.  Vanessa even confronted Jeff and publicly accused him of being a liar.

Of course, to a certain extent, it’s not really necessary.  All Vanessa has to do is nominate Jeff and let it be know that he’s the target and the other houseguests will vote him out.  This is definitely a “do-whatever-the-HOH-says” group of houseguests.  That Vanessa spent so much time scheming ways to “justify” nominating Jeff suggets that she’s thinking strategically but that she still doesn’t really understand how the houseguests think.

As of right now, it looks like Jeff will be nominated at the POV ceremony and that he will be the target.  That could always change, though.  Vanessa really doesn’t like James and it’s easy to imagine her suddenly changing her mind.  But if she doesn’t, Jeff will probably be going home.

And the only person who will really be upset about that will probably be Jackie.  But, to be honest, having Jeff out of the housse would probably help Jackie’s game.  Jackie seems like the type who — because nobody takes her seriously — could easily fly under the radar until the very final few weeks of the game.

After all, it worked for Victoria last season!

Anyway, that’s it for now!  The Veto Ceremony will be on Monday and we’ll see what happens!

Big Brother 17: Get Ready to Yawn

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 11, 2015

Every season, we complain about how predictable and boring Big Brother can sometimes be.  At this point, we always know that someone’s going to be backdoored.  We always know that someone’s going to be asked to throw a competition.  We know that someone is going to be a pawn.  And we know that nearly every week, whoever the HoH is targeting is going to be voted out.  For all the constant talk of alliances and strategies, it pretty much always comes down to who is lucky enough to win the HoH competition.

And we, as viewers, get bored with that.  We want something unexpected to happen.  We want the houseguests to create drama or do something surprising.  We want super close votes and shocking results.  We hate it when things go as planned.

But, of course, the people living inside the house have exactly the opposite desire.  They love it when things go as planned.  They love not having to create drama.  They love voting the same way as everyone else because that allows them to get closer to winning the game.  As long as everything is boring and predictable, they don’t have to worry about anything.

And really, that’s why we, as viewers, get so frustrated.  It all just gets so predictable.  For all of the constant “twists” that have been trotted out over the past few seasons, none of them have really succeeded in shaking up the inherent complacency of the house.  Even last week’s much ballyhooed Last Laugh twist only resulted in Da’Vonne getting 7 votes cast against her, instead of 10.

I’m thinking about the predictability of Big Brother precisely because something predictable happened last night.  After the nominations, they held the Battle of the Block.  Remember when the Battle of the Block was supposed to be game changer?  Yeah, not so much.  John, once again, threw the Battle of the Block.  So, now, he and James are the nominees and Vanessa is the head of household.

Depending on who wins the veto competition, the plan is to either backdoor Jeff or evict James.

It looks like it’s going to be another yawn-filled week in the Big Brother House.

Big Brother 17: Ughhhhhh….

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 10, 2015

Oh my God, Jeff is disgusting!

In case you missed it, Jeff was caught on the live feeds lying in bed next to Julia.  Julia’s back was to Jeff and she also had a bandana covering her eyes.  Judging from some of the motion that appeared to be happening under the covers, it would appear that Jeff was pleasuring himself and, once he was finished, he reached over and wiped his hand on Julia’s shoulder.

“You have a little stain right here,” Jeff said, “It’s actually sticky.”

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

I have to admit that I’m still confused as to why anyone at CBS thought Jeff and Jackie would be a great addition to the Big Brother House in the first place.  For the most part, they have proven themselves to be worthless as both players and houseguests.  Jackie is, for the most part, invisible while Jeff — even before masturbategate — has essentially proven himself to be the type of person that you dread getting trapped in a conversation with.

Incidentally, after last night’s episode, Jeff and Jackie discussed whether or not Liz is actually a twin.  Despite the fact that it’s pretty much an open secret and Liz isn’t even trying to keep it a secret anymore, Jeff said that he didn’t think the twin thing was true.  Jackie agreed.

What idiots!

Anyway, if you watched last night’s show, you know that, despite having the power of the Last Laugh, Da’Vonne was voted out and it wasn’t even close.  Becky, Jeff, and Jackie were not allowed to vote.  (That seems random, I know but apparently, Da’Vonne didn’t want to be too obvious in her picks, just in case she did somehow stay in the house.)  Jason and Audrey voted to evict Meg.  Everyone else voted to evict Da’Vonne.

If you only watch the CBS show, they did a pretty good job of making it look like the vote would be close but if you’ve been watching the live feeds then you know that Da’Vonne never really had much of a chance.

I know that Da’Vonne wasn’t popular with a lot of our readers but I’m sorry to see her go.  She was entertaining to watch.  During her exit interview, she caught Julie Chen off-guard.  You could tell Julie didn’t know how to reply when Da’Vonne said that everyone in the house was scared to nominate Audrey.  “Audrey did vote for you,” Julie sputtered.  Da’Vonne shrugged it off.

Anyway, HoH was won by Austin and Vanessa!  As I write this up, the nomination ceremony is currently in process.  Austin is planning on nominating Meg and Jason.  Vanessa is nominated John and James and John has apparently agreed to, once again, through the Battle of the Block.  Apparently, the plan is to backdoor Jeff.  If John and James somehow win the Battle of the Block, then the plan is vote out Jason.  (I’m not sure why they wouldn’t try to backdoor Jason — maybe they just don’t think he’s capable of winning the POV.)

(UPDATE: Austin nominated Jason and Meg. Vanessa nominated John and James.)

I’m totally hoping that Jeff is voted out this week because seriously — EWWWWWWWWW!

Also, we have a new alliance!  This alliance consists of Austin, Vanessa, John Mc, Steven, and Liz/Julia.  The name of the alliance is Freaks and Geeks.  Will this alliance last longer than any of the other hundred or so alliances that have been formed this season?

We’ll find out!
