HoH — We’re Down To 3!

by soonerryan on August 2, 2007

It’s 7:34 BBT, and we’re down to three as Jessica came off the endurance challenge, citing pain in her arms. She said her legs were ok, but hanging upside down on the bar was rough on the upper body as well as the lower body.

Eric really encouraged her and looked very disappointed when she got off the swing.

Odds are Jen or Kail will be HoH, which will make for a very volatile week … unless Nick’s departure and the likelihood of a letter from Kris pushes Daniele to the win.

Stay tuned.

HoH Update: Girls Rule!

by soonerryan on August 2, 2007

It’s 7:18 BBT, and it looks like the women of the house are ruling the roost.

Daniele, Jessica, Jen and Kail are all that’s left in the endurance challenge, and Dick is giving Jen and Kail HELL on the feeds. Now, I will say that Kail is having a rough go of it, just hours after she allegedly asked for a drop-out request from Big Brother — and it was caught on the feeds!

Anyway, video forthcoming, and the video will be well worth the wait.

Time For Dick, Daniele To Get Up Out Da House?

by soonerryan on August 2, 2007

Unfortunately, I won’t have time to stay up for the Late Night Crew meeting early Thursday morning. However, as of 10:30 p.m. BBT Wednesday night, it’s clear that certain members of the LNC are expecting to be bombarded in an attempt to save Nick.

Dick, Daniele and the aforementioned Nick haven’t been heard from for much of the evening. Heck, either they’ve each been in the diary room, or the feed-masters have chosen to avoid them. Their votes will decide Nick’s fate on Thursday.

However, Dustin, Jameka and Amber are pretty sure it’s going 6-2 to evict Nick if the team sticks together with Zach and Daniele voting to save Nick. At one point tonight, these three decided they were now pretty sure Daniele was the second vote to evict Kail last week.

Meanwhile, they all heaped praise on the person guilty of the second vote — Eric. Dustin, Jameka and Amber all went on about what a good-hearted guy the 27-year-old New Yorker is. Dustin went so far as to say, “Marry me, Eric.” And when he and Jessica walked into the HoH room, the group referred to the pair as the Newlyweds.

There’s a part of me that really wishes Eric didn’t have to be America’s Player. He could still win this thing, which makes it all the more amazing. Top that with his burgeoning, sweet showmance with Jessica, and we have two of the most likeable players Big Brother has produced in a while.

What has to be a killer for the frenemy experiment this season is just how much first-eliminee Carol must be dying on the outside of the house. Jessica has turned from a catty chick the first week to the sweetest doll imaginable, housed with several creeps.

And she’s gorgeous, too. Well, at least she is very cute, and given Eric’s general nerdiness, he’s single-handedly giving all us nerdy guys some hope.

A similar analogy could be made for Joe. While Dustin has had a rough couple of days this week, he has impressed America by being a good guy. In fact, I think it’s fair to say the BB8 house this season is comprised by this polarizing split between really good people and some gigantic turds.

And per this live feed I captured a few minutes ago, it’s clear that part of the LNC is ready to divest itself from a certain father-daughter combo come next week. Enjoy! And be sure to check out the live feeds section of the BB8 forum on must-see-tv.com for plenty more.

P.S. My prediction still stands. The vote goes down 4-4 barring breaking news overnight with Dustin casting the final vote to evict Nick.

What a difference a day makes.

On Monday night, the house was nuts — Nick and Dick bashing and yelling at Jen, tea poured on Jen’s head. I really thought Big Brother was going to have to evict somebody on the spot. Seriously.

If you don’t watch the feeds, you might not know that Big Brother is constantly hounding the houseguests about something or other. Jen, please put on your microphone … Dustin, please quit singing … Jessica, please do not obstruct your microphone … or just a plain-ol’ I said KNOCK IT OFF!.

The tea-over-Jen’s-head episode, I bet, drew a rebuke from the show’s producers at some point, particularly considering Dick once said he would “step on Jen’s neck.” Perhaps that’s why the house was much more subdued and friendly on Tuesday night.

The houseguests — three of whom have mohawks now (Nick, Dustin sort of and Eric) — all played a game of house key match-up. Eric hid houseguests keys in each of the slots along the video wall and the houseguests had to guess whose key was in each.

It wasn’t exciting, but it was civil.

Evel Dick won, and the entire episode foretells the calm before the proverbial storm. I mean we’re only two days away from the eviction of Nick or Kail, and while I was convinced Nick was a goner on Sunday, I’m not so sure now.

Enough has happened in the house this week that perhaps the houseguests will at least be willing to deliberate. Sure, I stick by my contention that Dick and Nick way overstepped their bounds in their treatment of Jen, but in this game, folks will snap from time to time as this is an emotional game.

Regardless of who goes on Thursday, look for Jameka and Dustin to move into range for the next HoH. Jameka really put off a lot of the other houseguests by playing the PoV competition FOR Jen, and Dustin definitely didn’t win friends by taking the Trip for 2 to Barbados and the $5,000.

But that’s for a discussion at another time. Two days to go, and either Nick or Kail is headed home. My money is still on Nick, but by the end of tomorrow’s live-feed watching, I might be withholding any more bets. As of Tuesday night, here’s my hunch as to how the voting will go down.

To evict Kail: Dick, Daniele, Zach, Eric

To evict Nick: Jameka, Jessica, Amber, Jen

This presupposes America tells Eric to vote to evict Kail, and this would lead to the first instance this season in which the HoH would have to use a tiebreaker. My reasoning is this: Daniele ain’t voting out Nick. Dick has been an ally of Nick’s so far this week as all the craziness went down, and he hates Kail. Even though Nick has been mean to Zach, Zach went after Kail last week. Eric has no choice.

Jameka, Jessica and Amber have all talked about eliminating Nick, and Jen — while she said she hated that Dustin replaced her nomination with Nick — has been pretty close to Kail.

It could go either way. Tonight it was pretty, but starting tomorrow, it gets UGLY. You know, in some ways, this is turning out to be one of the more volatile Big Brothers in history, and we’re only in the fifth week.

Now watch Nick shave his head, which was the beginning of the madness this week …

Big Brother 8 House Has Gone Completely Nuts.

by soonerryan on July 31, 2007

Man, why does all the good stuff in the Big Brother house not happen on the weekends!? As of last night, the Big Brother 8 house has dissolved into bizarro world.

Nick was put up on the block, and then he shaved his head into a mohawk.

Dustin shaved his head.

Dick and Nick have decided to mercilessly attack Jen verbally, and Dick even made it physical by pouring tea over Jen’s head, which I think technically is assault. The pressure really has gotten to the house, and while on one hand, it makes for brilliant live-feed watching … it’s also borderline mental.

And I have to say: From this point forward, I can’t be with evel Dick. Or Nick. Now I haven’t been a big fan of the Jenbot, but I admire how she’s kept a positive attitude through the mental beating she’s been taking. Furthermore, the out-and-out rejection of Zach — like we were back in high school — has gone overboard.

If Jen, Zach and Kail survive this week, they should totally work together and draw in Jessica and Jameka in order to purge the house of its crazies — Dick and Nick. Seriously, E.D. is about one wrong move from getting his tatted self booted from the show.

Enjoy these clips posted by YouTubers last night. They are honestly too crazy to believe, and it reminds me of the moment in the movie “Full Metal Jacket” when Pyle went nuts. Instead of shell shock, it’s BB shock.

Back-Door Surprise! Nick To Go On Block!

by soonerryan on July 29, 2007

The Late Night Crew (LNC), the alliance I had called the sequester alliance among Dustin, Dick, Jessica, Jameka, Eric, Daniele and Amber, had a meeting early Sunday (2 a.m. BBT) and decided that Nick was going up on the block.

Jameka had already promised to take off Jen from the nomination block, and now Nick will replace him. And get this — he’s going home!

Dick said something about, “Daniele will be happy in the long run,” or some such.

The group feels good about it, and at this point — unless Kail, Jen or Zach wins HoH next week — one of them is going home a week from now. Problem is that Kail and Jen are quite capable. We’ll see. All’s well and smelling like roses for the LNC for now, but get ready to say goodbye to Nick.

Live Feed Fun – New Romance? Eric & Jessica?

by soonerryan on July 29, 2007

Booze didn’t flow throughout the entire Big Brother house on Saturday night-Sunday morning, but Eric and Jessica had beers left over. Mind you, there had been instances of flirtation between the Kansas cheerleader and the New Yorker, but it’s more and more clear that there is chemistry between Eric and Jessica.

There was also drunkenness.

This live feed video I captured is a compilation of drunken, flirtatious highlights between the gorgeous Jessica and the funnyman better known as America’s Player.

Live Feed Fun – Jen’s Butt

by soonerryan on July 29, 2007

I think the Big Brother camera operator is a perv. He (or she) followed Jen’s tush for like three minutes during an early, early, early Sunday morning live feed. For those of you who like almost gratuitous nudity, here’s the robotic Jen.

Dustin Climbs Atop Weekly BB8 Rankings

by soonerryan on July 28, 2007

It’s time for the PoV, and with Jen and Kail on the block again this week, let’s look at my Big Brother 8 weekly rankings.

11. Zach (10).

Isolationism isn’t pretty in the Big Brother game, and Zach has left himself increasingly alone. Top that with uncomfortable comments, and he stands as the universally hated male player in the BB8 house. Unless he wins PoV, he’s likely on the block to replace either Jen or Kail and is the odds-on favorite to go home this week.

10. Jen (11).

As Dustin said late Friday, Jen finally proved she wasn’t a robot when she shed tears after being nominated again. This drew sympathetic responses from both Nick and evel Dick and showed that she at least had the potential to warm up to people.

9. Kail (12).

Kail lucked out last week and has spent the first part of this week making some amends, even warming up to HoH Dustin on Friday night and Saturday morning before the PoV. In one conversation, Dustin acknowledged that if she kept a low profile this week that she would be safe. It would be easy to see her go home, but my gut tells me the sequester alliance has bigger fish to fry.

8. Nick (5).

Any relationship potential between him and Daniele is slipping daily although there is still flirting. Quite a bit of strategic talk this week has centered on Nick as a back-door replacement for either Kail or Jen. Nick’s biggest problem is that he’s on the outside looking in to the Gang of 7 sequester alliance.

7. Jameka (9).

Jameka is coming out of her shell and playing a bit more. She’s in with the big undefined alliance, but her side conversations with Amber in particular portend future trouble.

6. Jessica (8).

It must be killing Carol, but Jessica has turned into one of the more likeable players. Late Friday, dare I say I saw the AFL cheerleader flirting with Eric. She’s also the party girl in the house, a reigning quarters queen. Her game is understated, and the fact that she’s a wildcard could prove troublesome for her soon.

5. Eric (6).

Eric dodged some bullets after the 7 to 2 vote to evict Mike could have left him wide open. He’s a slick talker and a fine reasoner, but sometimes he says too much. At some point soon, I think he’ll become a volatile, polarizing player, particularly if America has him do something else crazy (like vandalizing Jen’s clothes).

4. Amber (4).

Amber has made some terrific relationships in the house, both strategically and personally, but she plays both sides of the fence. She’s a good player in terms of “workin’ it,” but she’ll need to excel at some of these competitions in order to wield some power now and again.

3. Dick (2).

Evel Dick reminds me strongly of Eddie, the one-legged winner of Season 1. His in-your-face style is off-putting, but it also allows for some serious trust to be had. If he tells you he’ll do something, then by gosh you can count on it for now. I think he’s a lock for sequester and, to me, to make it to the Final 3.

2. Daniele (1).

She’s good when it comes to competition, but the slop clearly wore her down for a couple of weeks. Daniele’s strength is still in having her father back her up; however, she’s likeable enough and strong enough relationship-wise to stick around for the foreseeable future.

1. Dustin (3).

If I were forced to pick a winner right now, I think Dustin wins this bugger going away. He’s popular, so much so that both America and the other houseguests like him. Dustin has made no mistakes so far in the house, and his style of aggressive confidence is done in a friendly style as opposed to Dick’s style. I can’t really even fathom what trouble Dustin will have until the Final 6 or so.

It’s clear that Jen, Kail, Zach and Nick face tough odds in this the first week of the second month of game play. One of them is going home this week, and unless one of them can win HoH, another one will go home next week. Kail has made the most inroads with the sequester alliance to win back some friendships.

I think the fact that she’s made it so clear how much she loves this show, how much she wants to stay that, heck, there might be a tinge of empathy for her in the house. Even Dick has backed off publicly.

While Jen could work some Janelle magic and be around late in this competition, she’s not doing nearly enough to win souls. She’s gotta take Dustin aside, Jameka aside, Jessica aside and prove to them that she’s not a total b****. Honestly, I don’t think she is, and I think she’s way smarter than she lets on, which must mean she’s not playing the game very well, and it could be her demise.

And last but not least, while I don’t think I touched on Nick’s volatility this week, several reports indicate that he’s acknowledged having psychological problems to the other houseguests, problems that center on being violent. There is speculation that he might have even lied on his application to get into the house, saying that he had never been analyzed for psychological problems.

About two weeks ago, Big Brother strongly admonished Dick for saying he’d step on Jen’s neck for something or other. Violence will not be tolerated in the house, and while Nick’s arguments have been tame relative to his brief tiffs with Zach, one loss of temper ends his run on BB8. Not saying it will happen, but any goodwill he had built over the first three weeks has been lost because of this and his relationship with Daniele.

OK, PoV is soon to be over — I think — so keep it here on big-brother-blog.com for updates and analysis.
