Something’s Going Down: Little People, Quartets, Weirdness …

by soonerryan on August 15, 2007

Lisa has kept everybody abreast of some of the goings on at the house this afternoon. Apparently, a little person of some sort went around the house reciting phrases like “a snitch in time saves nine,” making folks think this could be a non-elimination round.

On the outside, a singing quartet starts crooning to “I’m Just Wild About Harry,” an old standard from back in the day (1930s?). There’s somebody on stilts, and everybody looks bewildered.

A snitch in time saves nine … ? What do you think it is? A banner that flew by giving away a twist? A rogue producer telling too much? OK, while you think about it, I did snag a video of the barbershop quartet. Enjoy and discuss.

Jeff August 15, 2007 at 4:16 pm

Snitch? Wild about Harry? Sounds like someone’s going to win a screening of Harry Potter 5.

In case people didn’t see my posts, here are the phrases the Mad Hatter (the midget who appeared in the house) was chanting:

1. Fish and visitors stink after 3 days.
2. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
3. S sNitch in time saves 9 (the number of guests in the house).
4. There’s no little enemy.
5. Three can keep a secret but two of them are dead.

The guests are talking about double eviction, 6 votoes with 3 going, and someone coming back to the house.

Lisa, I dont see how 6 vetoes with 3 going home and someone coming back would work are you saying that someone leaves thursday and someone comes back this thursday then a double eviction week. so unless mike comes back, whoever comes back would have to sign a waiver saying they wont spill the beans on eric.

I think it’s a puzzle of some kind referring to a competition – I’m thinking the next HOH. They may have to remember the characters, the song, the sayings, what they were wearing. Or maybe they’re getting a special musical guest…Harry Connick, Jr. since he sings old standards. I’m just wild about Harry is from the 20’s. =^^=

First, I kind of agree with Jeff. I’m no Harry Potter fan … don’t hate him, I just don’t know anything about him, but this sounds like some cross promotion to me. However, that’s no fun!

So, speculation.

1. Fish and visitors stink after 3 days.
The fish is an obvious reference to all the fish that has been cooked in that place. Zach is always burning some sort of fish on the grill. The visitors part of this makes me think somebody is coming back temporarily, like for three days. Maybe Kris gets to come to the house for Daniele’s birthday, making everybody in the house jealous?

Perhaps the houseguests get to pick three evictees to come back for the weekend, leading up to Daniele’s birthday celebration.

2. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
The web part of this could refer to the Internet, although I strongly believe this refers to Daniele and her decision not to tell others she’s 21. Don’t ask my why. Just a hunch. I mean, EVERYBODY in this house has deceived multiple times. Nobody is ininocent of this. Given the timing of this li’l event and Daniele’s upcoming birthday, I believe this specifically refers to her.

3. sNitch in time saves 9 (the number of guests in the house).
Could pertain to America’s Player. Could pertain to Daniele’s birthday secret. I believe it’s one of the two, and I do believe it would relate to a non-elimination week.

4. ThereÒ€ℒs no little enemy.
Meaning there is a big enemy. The biggest of the enemies was Joe, standing at 6 feet 4 inches tall. It was hard to see on TV, but the dude was very tall … perhaps he is returning? Perhaps this is a veiled reference to America, the public at large??? Us? πŸ™‚

5. Three can keep a secret but two of them are dead.
OK, I’m a conspiracy theorist … Perhaps Eric has told three people of the America’s Player secret, but two of them have been evicted? Perhaps Daniele told three people her real age, but two of THEM (including Nick) are evicted? Dick knows already, so he’s not “dead.”

What does it all mean? I think Joe and Nick are re-entering the house. Call me crazy … Let’s think about this some more. Lisa, any updates?

Remember, keep voting in our diary room post, and I’ll have the evictee decree ready before I hit the sack!

A stitch in time saves 9: means take care of the problem now while it’s small before it gets bigger and harder – I think it’s a Dustin reference.
There’s no little enemy: Dustin is skinny and petite looking, not a manly man, but as far as enemies go, he’s a big one in the house.
Three can keep a secret if 2 of them are dead: Joe is out of the house and Dustin claimed to have gotten close to Kail.
Fish & visitors stink after 3 days: Dustin has been on a real high horse for the last 3 days begging for the chance to go up against Dick to get him booted out.
Oh what a tangled web we weave…: Again, Dustin has played all sides and perhaps it will bite him in the butt.

Maybe this is BB’s way of getting the houseguests to vote out Dustin, or at least think about the possibility of other strategies. It’s kinda fun to think of other possibilities. Better to hear Harry sing. =^^=

Nick was 6’5″??? Holy moly … Defensive backs in college are usually not 6 feet 5 … that’s WAY tall for a DB (or safety). Like freakishly tall … I’m sure it’s possible, but watching them online and on TV is so deceptive because I would never have thought Joe was 6’4″ …

So, hmmm … how tall is Dick??? Because he does look tall.

One rumor I have read, one that makes more sense, actually, is that this event this afternoon DOES pertain to the next HoH but that next week, THREE people get nominated and TWO go home.

Think about it. A different way to do a double-elim. Three can keep a secret, but two of them are dead. But what’s the secret? …

Three can keep a secret IF two of them are dead.
That does make a difference in deciphering the clue.

There is no little enemy, perhaps there is a BIG enemy? (America’s player?)

The HG’s are talking about numbers. Including the time announced 12:36 and 47 seconds.

Three people nominated and 2 going home would be a great twist…could they be bringing in someone from another season, I think they did that one season didn’t they, maybe someone could be coming in to make them a fish dinner, watching Harry Potter, that makes sense, but how would any of these pertain to Alice In Wonderland? Are they starting to make things or rooms in the house smaller….or are some of them just getting bigger? (Oops, that was mean of me, Sorry Amber, Jen and Jameka)

sooner, I may be wrong about that, thinking about it, but I heard Eric say how he didn’t want this 6’5″ jock in the house – so sorry about that!

Right now, Dick has gone to Danielle for help to keep him in and the spoiled little brat is sitting there not talking to him and being just downright horrible to him, after all Dick has done for her. She is going to find out that she has been riding on Dick this whole time, I think. You can tell Dick is biting his lip over they way she is acting. He told her that this could be the last day he is there and asked if Danielle could get past whatever it is that she is feeling and help him? And, Danielle, said NO!!!

Oh, it’s still possible that Nick was 6’5″ … but if Eric is taller than me (5’10”), I’d be stunned! πŸ˜‰ …

As for Daniele, that’s disappointing. To be honest, it makes me feel sorry for Dick. If he only knew that he’s got Eric’s vote, he could work on Jen and Zach. Who he really, really needs to work on is Jessica because if this can go 3-3, she can save him.

I’m tellin’ ya, the most profitable alliance yet could be D&D, J&E. That’s a foursome that has a) competitive ability (Dani and Jess), b) aggression (Dick), c) deception ) Eric and d) storyline.

Last week was the redemption of Eric … this week can still be the redemption of Dick …

YES, Red!!! Right now EVERYONE has abandoned Dick. Danielle just talked to him like he was trash, got up like she usually does, and walked away, REALIZING that Dick really needs her help right now to pull this off. Dick is outside alone trying to put some things together. Zach trashed Dick to Jessica last night and Dick was the FIRST and ONLY friend Zach had in the beginning, and NOW Zach has REALLY stabbed him in the back – he told Jessica that he’s wanted Dick out for SO LONG! That Dick is on the block and he’s voting Dick out!!!

Dick and Jessica are having an interesting conversation in the HoH room, in which Dick spells out what I’ve believed all along — that he, Dani, Eric and Jessica would make the most formidable alliance in the house. Jess was very open to Dick’s thoughts, and given that Eric is voting for Dick — who knows?

Now, Daniele is talking with Jessica, trying to work it out — and Jessica tells Daniele that teaming up is an “awesome idea” …

With this said, whatever spat Dick and Dani might have had — I think — is already history. So, I am not worried that Daniele isn’t sticking by her dad. Not right now. I’m telling you — Dick needs ONE vote, and there ARE rumors online that what he found under the chess piece was the ability to nullify a vote. Who knows?

Daniele came out of the DR and she said she would act like she was upset. Jen was there, too, meaning she might know about the chess pieces, and if two are dead, perhaps it’s two votes that are dead? Maybe that’s the essence of three can keep a secret, and two are dead. Two votes?

Regardless, Dick tells Jessica and told Eric earlier, “I might be a mean %&$%#, but I am not a liar … ” If Dick can survive, a strong alliance is born. I am not convinced, regardless of how Dick might be down in the dumps, that he’s gone. I think absolutely that he’s staying, and the Thursday night shocker is ON.

soonerryan August 15, 2007 at 9:50 pm

OK, Lisa, as I’m sure you see — Dani and Eric are going to arrange a meeting to discuss the plan. Now, since you asked, if you’ll allow me to extemperaneously describe my thoughts about possibilities … this is off-the-head thinkin’ here:

1. Stitch can refer to clothes or to somebody who’s funny. Like, “he’s a stitch.” So, perhaps if Eric admits messing up Jen’s shirt, there will be no eviction. Perhaps if Dick admits hiding Dustin’s shirts, there will be no eviction? Could it be something clothes related?

2. Snitch. Who’s snitched? Hmmmm … Eric did tell people about Amber’s secret. That’s one example of true snitching I can recall. But the big secret is Eric’s role in the game … perhaps if he were to tell the house he’s America’s Player, then everybody would be saved?

(Yikes, Zach is saying something about giving Daniele 22 spankings on her birthday. Little does he know.)

3. Maybe the house is about to get two pets, Snitch and Stitch?

BTW, the great sci-fi writer used to twist the saying, “A Niche in time saves Stein,” and Eric’s last name IS Stein … I don’t know what it meant, and it almost certainly means nothing, but … Truth is, most of Big Brother’s puzzles and riddles are NOT that deep.

But I do think the little fellow meant to say both.

Now, the three can keep a secret and two are dead almost certainly refers to the frenemies concept. Joe and Carol are “dead,” but … you know there was a barbershop quartet out there, and Joe’s last name IS Barber. That’s a stretch …

Does anybody here really know their Lewis Carroll??? πŸ™‚

peekab000icu2 August 15, 2007 at 10:19 pm

Just my thoughts here. I loved the concept of “3 can keep a secret if 2 of them are dead” and the input about Joe and Carol being gone. But I think if I remember correctly that the 3 in the upstairs on opening night were ED, Jessica and Dustin. Jessica’s foe Carol is gone & Dustin’s foe Joe is gone, but ED’s foe/daughter is still there.

About the sNitch/sTitch, wow …. too many possibilities. I’m completely stumped on that one right now lol. And “there are no small enemies” makes me think of Zack. He’s underestimated in a big way like he’s a “small” worry. Then the 9-5-1, maybe means 9 players, 5 evictees and only 1 winner (or only 1 AP).

I found it VERY interesting that the guy on stilts was dressed like Captain Jack Sparrow knowing that ED said he had a small part in that movie and that Dustin’s last name is Barber like the Barber shop quartet. I’ll be thinking in overdrive trying to figure that message out.

Whatever it ends up being, at least the show is finally getting interesting again. πŸ™‚

Regarding one of your questions, I don’t know if you all recall, but earlier in the CBS show, Dick’s son was interviewed. He made a comment about the reason the relationship between Dick and Daniele fell apart had to do with money, and that his dad may not have handled the money thing the best way. Do any of you recall that? I enjoy Dick and hope that D and D make-up. I also think that Daniele is a bit like a little girl sometimes…she has some growing up to do. Heck, I am 53 and I still have growing up to get around to–lol.

Staci,

It doesn’t make you awful at all. It’s obvious Dick has more fans out there than anyone else in the house. I personally believe because he’s the first houseguest to “stay the course” and not change the way he plays the game. He has been “in your face” from day one. You keep seeing a new aspect of each of the other houseguests but not Dick, he’s still the same.

I truly hope he stays and Dustin goes. This house needs a big upset to get things going and Dick leaving would not be it. I personally would loose interest and most likely not watch any longer. But with Dustin gone, let the games begin!!

Eric and Jessica discussed, and Jessica said she would like to see Dick gone. However, they did discuss the possibility of teaming up with Dick and Dani, but my take on their discussion was that they didn’t reach a decision. Furthermore, Eric positioned it such that keeping the status quo — and evicting Dick — would put less focus on them come next week …

They also said that Jameka’s gotta go in the next four weeks given that she can’t compete for the HoH any of the next four weeks.

They completely discount Amber and Zach.

They agree that Dustin is “shady.”

So, I do think Eric and Daniele talk, but Eric sure didn’t sound committed to this plan, although in his defense, I would say that he — and I think he meant it — said that he wanted to make sure whatever he did benefits Jessica as much as it does him.

BTW, very interesting about the Jack Sparrow comment … I didn’t catch that and forgot that Dick had talked about his role in a movie …

Moreover, the numbers … 9 … 5 … 1. Nine people are still there. Five have gone. Could the one refer to a 15th player? Somebody named “Harry?” Ideas —

1. Maybe Jameka has an ex-boyfriend … or a HUSBAND she’s separated from?

2. Maybe Amber’s enemy — meth — gets introduced to the house and they all become tweakers? πŸ˜‰

I’m grasping at straws …

Jen – Dick
Zach – Dick
Jameka – Dick
Amber – Dick
Danielle – Dustin

its simple what BB is trying to tell them

the barber shop is obviously to do with dustin…and the song makes it even more obvious, harry may refer to someone in the past BB or Dustins past that he revieled about a guy named Harry.

the Stilts is obviously Dick, he was the stand in for Johnny Depp.

the madd hatter is just there to throw everything off…its been three days since the POV which relates to the fish

three can keep a secret…the three votes where two dont count…obviously HOH and all.

there is no little enemy…everyone is just as much of an enemy

stictch in time saves stein…saves 9…9 guest and something with the chess board maybe under the clock…whatever dick found.

and im pretty sure CBS is doing something for Daniele’s Bday…but not before it gets here and certainly not before the vote tomorrow. way too early.

too much to dechiper but in the past its been realllll obvious what it all means.

Just throwing this out there for the “no little enemy” thing. Maybe it has to do with the America’s Player concept. Like all of the houseguests aren’t just playing against Eric. They don’t know they’re playing against “America”. That’s an awfully large enemy, eh? Just a thought. As for the rest, my brain hurts.

I do not understand how any woman can state here that they respect or like Dick. He is abusive to women and treats them terribly. This only goes to prove that some women like to be abused. If not, why do so many of them here appear to like Dick?

Ronjj, any person on the show is not as they truly are outside of the show. Dick has a strong personality, many women tend to water down their personality as a result of societal norms. I could bet you my bottom dollar that Dick does not push women with strong personalities around.

Besides, he’s just using aspects of sexual nature as a part of his strategy. I wonder why no one ever gives BB women a hard time when they use sex to win….hmmm….

Lauren, not so sure about your thoughts on Dick. He has a daughter he has alienated, two exwives, and a mother he seems to have nothing to do with. A man like this does not treat women well. I really think his demeanor in the house is Dick outside the house. He basically has a low opinion of women and an extremely high opinion of himself.

Ronjj, I think that Danielle caused just as many problems in their relationship as he did, she has a lot of growing up to do (which is fine, she is only 20). As for exwives, MANY men have multiple ex-wives but that does not mean they are mean to women. To me, Dick does not seem like the settling-down type, which would probably account for failed marriages. And as for mothers, you dont know anything about it.

I am not going to try to sway you, different strokes for different folks, and who I might befriend, you would not, and thats OK.

My main issue is when people feel like they KNOW someone on the show, just because they’ve watched them in a highly synthetic situation. And then they judge. I dont judge anyone on these shows because there is no way for me to know them. Like how people decide if celebrities are good people or not. You can’t, because you really dont know anything about them. So I give them the benefit of the doubt, because most people mean well, even if it does not come off that way.

All I know is that of all the people on this years BB, from my observations, Dick is the most likely of them to want to be my friend, and also the person who I would want to meet the most, and therefore, he is my favourite player. Do I think he is a good person? not sure, I dont know him.

Dick may not seem to be a settling down type, but he sure need to grow up. A forty four man acting and looking the way he does is pathetic. Yes, his daughter has a lot of growing up to do, I agree. Think of the baggage she carries being the daughter of Dick!

I would not judge a man by multiple exwives. I am judging him by the way he treats women on the show. He is abusive and that cannot be denied. Pouring tea on a woman’s head is unacceptable. It is assult, game plan or not. His verbal assults and insults are uncalled for, game plan or not. There are ways of playing a game without degrading people. He needs to learn how to do that. Hopefully, he will be evicted tonight and it won’t be a question any longer.

I have no favorites on this show, with the possible exception of Jessica. The people I thought were decent are gone, Mike and Kael. They seemed sincere to me and as always, it is not the best person or the nicest person who comes out ahead.

I guess we will have to wait until tonight to find out how courageous they all are. If they vote Dick out, great. If they do not, it simply means they are afraid of the resident bully and eventually he will get all of them out of the house. It is too bad they won’t realize how foolish they have all been until they are on the outside looking in. I don’t think Dick want to win it for himself. I think he is using it as a way to buy back his estranged daughter’s affections by helping her win or at least get into the finals. Hopefully, she has enough smarts to see how shallow her father is.
