Hi, everyone.
Well, I am still hearing the same rumor that I was hearing when I last posted and I really can’t say that I’m happy about it. That rumor is that Big Brother 16 will feature a bunch of returning players and their loved ones. Among the names being mentioned are Rachel and Elissa (or Rachel and Brendon or Elissa and her husband or — and this would seem pretty unfair to me — all four being sent into the house together), Danielle and Dominic, Hayden and Kat, Dan and Chelsea, or maybe even clown-haired Frank and his father, the professional wrestler.
And allow me to just to say this — I love almost everyone who regularly reads this blog and I’m going to cover Big Brother this season no matter what but oh my God, if this season starts out with Julie Chen announcing that we’re about to see to see the return of “some Big Brother favorites,” I am going to throw a little online hissy fit.
Of course, when I say that I’ve been hearing rumors, what I mean is that I saw a lot of speculation on twitter. Obviously, all twitter rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. Speaking of which, a lot of people seem to be convinced that, if season 16 does feature returning players, Aaryn Gries will be allowed to play for a second time. I’m sorry but I seriously doubt it.
(If Aaryn hadn’t been such a little racist, she probably would be invited back for an All-Star season, just based on all the competitions she won. But the fact of the matter is that Aaryn was — and probably still is — a racist and nobody wants to see her again.)
Rachel and Brendon, incidentally, finished third in the latest season of The Amazing Race. I have to admit that, for most of the race, I was surprised to see Rachel and Brendon actually acting like semi-functional adults. Brendon was actually thinking strategically while Rachel managed to get through most of the race without having a nervous breakdown. As I watched this season, I found myself thinking that maybe Rachel and Brendon were no longer the Hellspawn that I previously believed them to be.
Or at least that’s what I thought until the final episode of the season.
It was during the finale that Brendon and Rachel essentially had a meltdown. Rachel started the episode by saying they had to win because she wanted to have a “Brenchel Baby” and in Rachel World, you can’t have a baby unless you win a million dollars of reality TV money first. Throughout the rest of the episode, Brendon spent most of his time yelling at Rachel while Rachel spent all of her time sobbing and talking about how mean everyone else was. Perhaps the team’s most loathsome moment came when Brendon tried to steal another team’s taxi by yelling at their driver that he and Rachel had to win the race for the sake of their imaginary baby.
And, as annoyed as I was by both of them, I was somewhat comforted to discover that they really hadn’t changed that much. As the old saying goes, “The more things change, the more they stay the same,” and that certainly seems to be the case as far as Brenchel is concerned.
Anyway, Rachel and Brendon came in third and Rachel was literally sobbing as they reached the mat. Rachel then informed everyone that, since they didn’t win The Amazing Race, she and Brendon would have to wait to have a Brenchel Baby.
So, here’s my fear.
My fear is that Rachel will return to the house for season 16 and I’ll have to spend the entire summer listening to her saying, “Brenchel Baby.”
Please, God, no…
So, here’s hoping that all the rumors are not true!
Peace and love,
Lisa Marie
