I think it’s fantastic that Dick made it to the end. His play in the last HOH competitions showed how passionate and loving he is. Just goes to show you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Yeah, he does a lot of cursing but he keeps it real and speaks his mind. I know someone that is just like that but he would give the shirt off his back to help you if you ask. Dick had the game plan he carried himself and his daughter to the end. Danielle was a good competitor but she never would have made it to the end without the mastermind (Dick). More importantly, thanks to CBS for reuniting a father and his daughter. Great Job this season.

I hate Dick…I really do! I guess I have respect for the fact that he never stopped playing, but that is about all the respect I have for him. I did not want him to win at all. BUT with that said, he did earn his spot here no matter how he did it and kudos to that I guess. In the end, it is a game and boy did he play. He should be the winner.

Yes, it’s now a lovefest for the Donatos. What a great season! And, great, great game. I agree this one is right up there with Dr. Will’s first time on the show. I have to admit I was a bit nervous about Dick going up against Zach in the last HOH. But, oh what a win. Now it’s all gravy. Can’t wait to hear the questions the jury will have for these two. And, the answers D & D will have for them. Should be interesting to say the least.

They did play an awesome game. I hope Dick wins. That is the only way Dani will get half the money. If Dani wins, she is keeping it all to herself.

Dick is the furthest thing from a redneck. He’s a bad ass Hollywood schmoozer and he totally deserves to win this game. People may not have agreed with his tactics…but give me one season where the winner didn’t use mean and stragetic tactics to further themselves in the game. Dick is a total gamer and a cool mofo who deserves to be there in the end, dodging elimination almost every week along with his HOT daughter. Go triple D, DICK AND DANI DONATO. Oh, and VERBAL — rednecks can’t even afford Miller Lite, they drink Hamm’s Ice or Schlitz!

I totally agree Dick played the game as it was meant to be played. I am just fascinated by Dick. It’s great to see how someone can play it right up front. And, either people were too afraid or too stupid to realize he was in it for the long haul & for MORE than the money. The money is just the frosting on the cake. I’ve loved his rantings but also loved seeing how protective he was of Daniele.
And, Dick has a lot more fans than some people realize. I being one of them. Major fan here.

I think he acted like a big bully, he was nasty rude and at times down right disgusting. He didn’t play it fair and honest, he lied. What about his alliance with Eric and Jessica. They both lied,they had no intention of doing what they said. Yet when it is there turn to get put up, Wow did you not hear E.D. What an ass. You know money can’t buy you class. I hope E.D. gets the money, he will be kind to his family, but the Happy Hooter chick – It’s all hers.

Each and every houseguest in the place had lied at sometime or another. Jessica would have turned on their alliance the week she had HOH if only Eric (America’s Player) had not interfered. Dick was more up front with people than any other in the house.
I know I’ll never change your mind about Dick and that’s okay. We are all allowed to have our own opinions. I enjoy reading other’s points of view on each of the HGs as well as yours. Thank you for that.

I agree, everyone lied at one point or another. My only problem is this, did ED really have to resort to attacking each person the way he did. I am the same age as ED 44yrs old, I knew kids in school like him and don’t have a single thing to do with any of them. If you have to resort to that kind of behavoir just to get something then that only shows just how pathetic and imature someone really is. To some it up, ED is a bitter, old, pathetic man who has a spoiled, complaining daughter and now has $500,000.00. I doubt very seriously that any good will come from this. ED and D stopped talking to each other over money and it would not surprise me if they end up not talking to each other again because Dani did not get her way in one situation or another with her Dad. I will not be watching next seasons BB or any other BB show. This just showed me how desperate CBS was for raitings and how FIXED this whole game was.

I am done with BB. This season was rigged from the beginning. There are other ways to bring up ratings. They let Dick whatever the hell he wanted but gave Jen a penalty vote for eating. Dick blatantly admitted to cheating with the blue ball incident and they did nothing. I hope Jameka will take out a lawsuit against CBS.

As for Dick “DESERVING” to win? WAY OFF BASE! WRONG WORD CHOICE! Again, there’s NO way D/D would still be in the house if not for the way America manipulated the AP CHOICE! Dick and/or Danielle DID NOT PLAY THE BEST GAME and Dick and/or Danielle did not “DESERVE” To Win. America is the winner! Both D/D are in for a shock when they find out that they actually DID NOT DOMINATE the game.AMERICA DID! Although, eventually, later, Dick will say, “I don’t give a flying Fu@k!”. . . . . . . . . . . . After giving this a considerable amount of thought, I do believe that Dick and Daniele deserve to be in the final two. What I think about how they handled getting there, they did a great job and worked their butts off and do definitely deserve to be in that spot. I would have preferred Dick and Zach in the final two. I am kind of mean, but I would love to have seen the scene if Dani had to leave and then her trek into the SH.

We need to really push the producers to start filming the SH the last week of the show. Live feeds. That would be a great thing to watch.

Kudos to Zach. I think he did have a strategy and it almost worked for him. I think he went out gracefully. I wish he could have won something.

Father and daughter in the final two is something big and hats off to them for working so well togther and getting there.

Dick is the best way to go I couldn’t be happier for both D&D but I am rooting for Dick to be crowned the winner. I have been rooting for him from the very beinning couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

When all is said and done, and for the first time in BB history the final two ARE the two best players and the most deserving to be there. They didn’t make the final two by happenstance, accident, riding someone else’s coattails, flying under the radar or floating. They made it by seriously playing the game and everyone in it, keeping it non-personal, and playing to WIN! Every person in that house had the opportunity to go after them and get them out. They were on the block TOGETHER three times. But because of their game, they are where they are and where they deserve to be. Posters here are more bitter than Zach, who finally stepped up to play, albeit too late. He wasn’t the “muscle” after all but obviously a hell of a nice guy. And they sometimes finish last, but he made it farther than the others, so kudos to Zach. Now on to some gloating…

And finally, to all you bitter D&D haters, (Ronjj, bam, etc.)…in the words of our DICK, BOO FRICKEN’ HOO! Keep your promise that you won’t be watching next year and clogging up OUR blog with your useless, pointless, worthless, ridiculous, conspiracy laced, overly-sensitive, wimpy posts. Good riddance to bad rubbish. We won’t miss you any more than the idiots in the jury house.

I Think Dick Will Win. I believe people feel for sure that he will help danielle out monetarily. I’m NOT so sure Dani would do the same for him. It’s sad to say but he seems so much more sincere than she does. Maybe it is her age. Until you have children of your own you never understand the deep emotional feelings, the bonds that are made, the sacrifices. I just hope they do connect again after the show, fame, and money.

I just finished watching House Calls from yesterday morning and a rep from Big brother said the reason we are not seeing the SH is that it is boring and there is nothing to show. I am sorry but that is crap they have found a way to show it in the past and it is not about excitment it is interesting to see their reactions and feelings. She also said they did the blue ball just went in but it would not have changed the out come of the game as Jam was two balls behind so they did nothing. She said Dick did admit to cheating and the letter did spell out Eric’s name not to trust but it did not effect the out come of the game and then stated the reason Jen got penilty and Dick has not is his actions ( including the cheating) did not effect others or the game but Jens eatting did. I do not agree with her but that is their position just for your info.

Bev, My father had some embarrassing public habits when I was growing up (including a foul mouth at times) but he loved me. That was the most important thing. He was always there for me. He was always happy spending time with me. If Dani broke off the relationship only because he is embarrassing to be around then she is a fool.

Very well said David. Sometimes I forget things like that as my father was a very quiet, mild mannered, never utter an ugly word sort of guy. He was a gentleman and he was honorable. when Jameka officially complained about the blue ball in her tube, that she did not put it in there, they reviewed all the tapes and the blue ball went into her tube by accident.

If Jameka had gone to the final 3, I don’t think she would have beaten Zack. I’m glad she didn’t have to go through that torture. She does get $50,000 for making it to the final 4.

When Julie talked to Zach she mentioned that he didn’t win anything. Well he also gets $50,000, as well as Daniele and Dick for being the other two, in the F4.

I loved watching all of the Big Brother shows but something is not right. As to many things are not right and the statements being told to us the viewers are just not right. I am not into conspiracy theorys. I am telling you all the drama is going to happen down the road when someone figures out how to tell all with the contract they sign cause that is where the real story is. I also do not buy (I repeat myself) that the reason we have bearly saw the SH (I watched the rep from BB say it) is that there is nothing going on there, nothinginteresting. I too look forward to seeing the reactions to AP by the other house guests. I know a lot of people think it should not matter it is intertaining but to many of us it does matter and unless it is in the players contract then it should matter to everyone who is losing out on the winning pot how honest or not this game is.

I thought it was an entertaining show and I am glad Dani and Dick are the F2. That made me happy. I think it is so funny that people are writing about conspiracies. I mean, why don’t they write about politics, economics, education, stem cells, things that actually matter. Who cares about BB in that spectrum. It is a show!!! It is for entertainment! This season was full of the same old tired twists and forgetable people. Dick was surely a factor in the house but for all of the wrong reasons. He epitomized to truly dispicable way to win this game. Anyone who thinks he deserves to win must certainly have issues in their lives. How can anyone think that a person that berates, insults and embasses people to get ahead in this game deserves more than a swift vote out the front door? Have we, as a society, reasched a point that cheering for a mean, unforgiving, truly self-centered person like evil Dick can be a good thing? This is why I always believed that this show only brings out dredges like Dick out from under their rocks to show how bad they are and showcase them to the world for all to see. How sad!!! I plan to spend my nights doing something more productive next season and stay away from Big Brother 9 and beyond.

Those who have live feeds and/or read the live feed recaps know he basis for the questions the jury asked D & D and going from that it appears that the jury believes Dick to be the actual better strategist. When Dani brought up the competitions she won, she and Dick could hear laughing on the end of the jury.

Terri-Sue and Donna Ros, Thanks as both of the sites were great! I do not care for eather Dick or Dani (although I see some great traits in Dick and maybe Dani will develop some with age) but I do hope for both of their sake that their relationship becomes a happy and healthy on in time it is worth whatever work they each need to do to make that happen.

I notice that there seems to be a few themes running through the comments here and here is my 2 cents.

First as per winnings; I suspect that on both Survivor and BB CBS makes sure that all the contestants walk away with some serious change. There are many means for CBS to compensate players above and beyond their basic pay for being on the show. I recall years ago on David Letterman one of his staffers was getting married and merely by having her appear on the show for about 2 minutes to give an update on the wedding plans she earned enough to pay for the entire wedding, (something like $18k). So I am sure there is extra money for showing up on the morning show and then again on Letterman, plus the finale, plus appearance fees for other CBS functions, etc. They are probably told in advance what pay points will occur depending upon how long stay. My thoughts are anyone that makes it to the jury probably won’t walk away with anything less than $100k in their pocket.

Second relates to why they would want to pay them that much? The legal contract they sign is apparently enormous and you essentially surrender all rights to them. I once heard a radio interview with someone from Survivor and all he would say about the contract they sign is that his lawyer told him that he was crazy to sign such a document. That said when you go on BB or Survivor essentially they can do anything they want and you have no resource and in fact obliged to keep quiet if you witness something they do not want you to comment on. Ie: Richard Hatch claims that CBS promised to pay the tax on his winnings in exchange for his being quiet about a crew member giving food to one of his competitors, (it has been suggested it was Kelly ). So there will no legal issues about America’s player or any manipulation.

Finally the third issue relates to the second; manipulation by the producers. CBS openly admitted after the casting of BB 7 that following the failure of the model in BB 1 where the public got rid of the ‘aggressive people’ that they would take all steps necessary to keep the show entertaining. As such they admitted this year that in fact they were responsible for the plane messages. They clearly design HOH/POV challenges with a specific winner outcome in mind and without a doubt during the Diary Room interviews, (because people do not just sit there and talk but are in fact coached), they are led to consider strategies and the meaning of events in a context they may have missed, (ever notice how suddenly someone gets a brainstorm that their supposed alliance member might be getting ready to screw them out of nowhere).

To that end is there any basis to believe that the AP directions even came from the public and not from CBS itself? I would hope that this is the extent that CBS would interfere, specifically background manipulation with a hope to influence the outcome, but given the money involved with the ratings one has to wonder if the temptation to directly influence would prove too much?

Are they facts cause I watched a high up rep on housecalls and she stated the oppisite of what you are stating. I am one of the few people that although I yhought it way more boring liked the outcome of BB1.

You know, whether you like Dick or not, he genuinely loves his daughter and wants a relationship with her and he was with her and for her this whole time. He has cried and cried over her and as a parent, I see the love he has for her and it is very touching.

This has been the worst season ever, THANK GOD that Survivor starts this week!!

I’m seriously disappointed!. Who cares who wins now? The result is the same no matter who wins between Dick and Danielle. I shut the TV off and won’t watch the rest. Its UNFAIR to have a father there to help one candidate while everyone else has no family member there. The Donatos won because they had an unfair advantage. Dick’s bullying and attempts at intimidating others showed his lack of character. When Dick was down, did Zack berate him? No, Zack acted like a man, something big tattooed cheating old man could never hope to aspire to.

Seems like BB wanted the Donatos to win. Dick put that blue ball in the Jameka’s tube and they totally ignored it. I hope the last two episodes are the lowest rated ever. Only thing worth watching is the jury house. Booooooooooo!. .

David great post. I do not know if people mean to state thing as fact but I agree that it shoul always be writen as their opion, where they heard it and if it is fact how they know it. The one thing we know for sure is that we are all watching the same show and yet come away with so many different points of view. I have loved getting a different take and it has helped me to see the other side of things. Sometimes I agree and some times I hear and see what someone is saying and still disagree. The only thing I dislike is the personal attacks (not talking about joking). Just remember to all met back here on the blog down the road when someone writes a tell all.

Hey Susan, I agree that it probably doesn’t matter, although I do think that Dick would make sure he shared the money evenly with Dani but not sure she would make sure she shared it evenly with her dad. I am getting the impression though that the majority of the jury will vote for Dick. I know it seems like they hated him, but I think looking back they are going to go with him. Now, no one can deny that Jen was a tad bit self centered… just a bit, but at least with Jen, there was some semblance of maturity… Dani not only is she self centered, but she acts like a 12 year old, and the Jury see this… Even Dick, as hopelessly lost as he is in trying to fix this relationship is beginning to see that, that aint happening… tomorrow night should be fun to watch… Perhaps Dani will have another breakdown, perhaps the Jury will pummel Eric when the AP twist is revealed… perhaps Jess will announce she is preggers…

A week ago I would have thought that the final vote would be 5-2 or 4-3 with Dick winning the big $$$… I would have thought Jamika, Whamber and perhaps Jen voting for Dani… Now, I think 7-0 Dick Wins… and what a slap that will be to Dani…

SherreLu, I have said it several times…Dick did not set the standard for pouring liquid on heads…Janelle did last year. She poured a drink on Marcellas and slapped him. It gets a bit frustrating when people suggest Dick set a new low standard for the show. He did not. He followed last years example. I guess it is ok for a woman to do it to a man, but not the other way around.

God I agree about hiding weapons, but nothing so boring as a gun or knife…

I would like to see weapons such as scythes, bats with spikes, Samurai Swords. Big heavy weapons that do gory nasty damage. It may put the Danielles at a disadvantage but would be more fun. I wanna see an “eric” chasing a bug guy like Nick around the house with a broadsword…

I do not approve of his bulling people or his verbal abuse but what was the problem of the others in the house tolerating it. I also do not see things so black and white as some do as I see a LOT of heart warmimg traits in Dick and I know he is capable of not being verbally abusive because he turns it off for his daughter and his patience, love, care and the way he talks to her is a choice he makes with her and probably ( yes, I am guessing) just as kind with his friends and family. I know I am looking for the best and do think we see a lot of the real personalities but I can not help to see how he acts and treats Dani.

The only one who put their hands on someone else this summer was Jen, and she was not punished for it. As to the drink he poured on her head I found it (by itself) to be pretty benign. If I saw someone being viscious and rude to my daughter I might do the same thing. I think people are being too sensitive about it. What damage can really be done pouring a drink on someone? He caused no harm, no threat of violence, no reason for her to fear for her safety.

I do not personally feel it was staged for ratings. I think Dick was genuinely mad based on the look in his eyes (unless he is an amazing actor).

Revieling the AP twist should over shadow the who gets the money part of the show… everyone knows Dick is gonna win… Once AP is revealed, I wonder if the evil D’s will appreciate just how little their Game Play mattered to them being the F2 and that it was far more Eric’s manipulating the votes that kept them alive. Face it, whether you like Dick (dave) or hate him, he would have been gone long ago if it not for Eric. It would be nice if in the end they thanked Eric for his abilities to manipulate people so well…

No question that Dick deserves the money but he better be thanking those rabid fans of his for saving his a**. Truth be told he did not “outplay” Eric. America did!! So while I understand he played within the rules and deserves to win, everyone should quit acting like he alone “outplayed” the rest of the house. The truth of the matter is that he made for great TV but his antics are gonna change the way people play these games for the worse. I mean seriously, is dumping tea on someone’s head that far from pushing them. It sets the stage for a fist fight on Survivor and more bullying. The truth of the matter is that he was given a lot of rope because he made for good TV. If Nick had stayed and not been on team Donato, Dick would have watched his mouth.

As for Danielle, she cheated on her boyfriend of 3 YEARS!!! within two weeks on the show. I mean how humiliating for the dude. Furthermore, she asked her father to treat people the way he did when it was convenient for her. She is just as bad.

However at the end of the day Dick does deserve to win. For those of you who are fans of both Dick and Daniell you better hope Dick wins or he won’t see a penny of that money.

I will say that this past week has been boring to watch, BUT it has been interesting to read everyone’s opinion.

The verbal abuse theme has me wondering when one enters a strategy game how one can be verbally abused. Clearly Dick as well as some others in the house did verbal assaults on others. But you have to ask yourself, why did those who were on the receiving in, not just get up and walk away. I noticed Dick walked away on several occasions only to have others follow and continue to run their mouths. Entering this game each individual should be well aware of what to expect and that they at anytime can leave (they can) or just walk away. Now Dick’s or even others action done outside of that game would be an issue, but this is a game. By the way Dick was not the first to employ verbal assaults in this game, this season or other seasons. It is he just took it to a new level of effectiveness.

The ice tea incident, as I recall prior to the conversation between Dani and Jen, there was an incident between Jen and Dick where Dick left, went outside. I will say Dick’s aim was terrible, it appears that little of the liquid actually made contact and Jen’s reaction, that was just weird. I have seen a lot worse in public and no one was yelling assault. I think people need to take it in the context of the game and the events leading up to it. Personally think he shouldn’t have done it.

The BLUE BALL… I think Dick is getting a bum wrap on this one. There was clip on another blog where they showed the event, then there was Dick coaching Jameka on getting BB to give her an answer on how it got there. He clearly thought someone put it in there and during the live feeds every time he brings it up, they cut off the feed. I think there is an issue here but it is not Dick it is another player….Who would benefit by it? Zach – Not really, Dick or Dani – Maybe, Eric – Yes, Jameke – NO. But I guess we won’t know unless someone owns up to it or BB clears it up. The one in a million shot, just seems to be a stretch.

I like Zach thought Dick’s behavior was terrible, but it worked, it was a game. I still can’t believe Dick’s good bye messages to the other HGs, they were so uncharacteristic of his game behavior. I am coming to the conclusion, all those Dick moments in the BY where he rants and rants are just him practicing for his game cause it is not really his character. I mean how many times can you hold a conversation with a shrub using more profanity in 60 seconds than most people can say in hour, not to mention how many different ways can you string words together. I don’t think we have seen the real Dick that often during the game.

It would be interesting to learn how much BB does interact with the HGs…. I do think they feed some of the HGs info at times in the DR. Clearly the competitions they set up favor some over others. Take the final comps for HOH. The first one clearly favored Zach, it was so close to filling the fish bowl with tea comp which Zach clearly and soundly beat everyone by a mile with the exception of Dick. There have been others that it seemed obvious who had the best chance of winning while others stood no chance IMO.

I thought the vote would be 4-3 Dick but now I am thinking it maybe 6-1 with Dustin the odd vote out (no pun intended).

Its TV, its a game, its almost over…

Furthermore, Dick and Dani had a huge advantage in this game. From day one, even when they weren’t getting along, Dani new she had an unquestionable ally in the game. Others had to develop relationships with other HG’s and constantly question those relationships. This is part of the game and Dick and Dani had it covered from day one.

Again, Dick and Dani deserve to win but don’t try and say that their tactics were all game. The things he said to people were horrible and it takes a piece of trash to be capable of saying what he said. He questioned people’s sexuality, religion, parenting. He bullied women.

That being said, it won’t matter in six months when they blow the money (which really isn’t that much after taxes living in Cali) doing things people of their caliber do (ala lottery winners). College ain’t happening for anybody in that family. It’s simply a year or two off of work and then back to the grind. Addmittedly, Dick may be able to parlay this into something and keep things going and Dani can sucker Nick in to taking care of her.

But as Dick said, at the end of the day they are the winners and they did make the show more interesting. I wish them the best but am not very optimistic.

EET took a couple of days off work last week and is still recuperating from his long weekend. (Plus, he tried to get on today but the site won’t come up on his work computer…I think Uncle Sam put the kibosh on his blogging ability) I’ll tell him you’re all thinking about him. Dick sure has been talking about Kail a lot since she was evicted and especially now..his mind/references keep going back to her. I think deep inside Dick respects Kail now that they know she is a savvy business woman. Course she is married but, who knows. LOL. We might hear about a Dick/Kail romance later on.

Dani dying her dad’s hair for him. I think Dani has reconcilled (sp) to the fact that she will probably take 2nd. Their relationship will probably remain dysfunctional.. probably not near what it was…and,.. nowdays what family isn’t dysfunctional in it’s own way.

The tone of their conversations seem more on track to a normal/average dysfunctional.

I think Eric was instrumental in a small part to where D & D ended up…BUT… they did win key HoH and PoV competitions. Both of them. The nominations Eric had to do wasn’t too far off base with what the HGs wanted anyway.

I think if you touch another person, douse them with a drink, especially in the midst of an argument, and it’s not a HOH or POV challenge, destroy their personal property, threaten another with physical harm, among other things, then you’re crossed the line.

Do I know if those rules are in the “rule book,” no. But, then I’ve many post of folks, who haven’t read the rule book either, who think his behavior wasn’t outside of the limits, but no one has asked about reading the rule book.

Going down this slippery slope, eventually there will be an incident on the show, because of what has been allowed in the past. And, the retort, will be, you let so and so get away with (fill in the blank).

Yep…13 years next week! My last flyover is tomorrow to give a fond farewell banner to D&D. If you haven’t already, please check out the video on YouTube. GaPeach. I do not know it is NOT in the rule book, but that is my point. You stated as a fact that Dick broke the rules…What rule? He admits he watched last years show, so he saw Janelle pour a drink on someones head with no punishment. That told him it was ok.
He did not touch anyone, did not damage any property (that was eric at the encouragment of the BB staff), he did not make any real threats. He poured a cool beverage on someone head. I think you are being over sensitive. Do you really believe pouring a drink on someones head is physical abuse?

Geesh …. the tea incident again … people are just too divided over this issue … we can argue/debate all the points until next season and it will not matter … and I am starting to agree with David … (good lord I must need more caffine) Jen didn’t seem to be that upset over it … in fact she seemed unaffected by it … and she did get her revenge with the destruction of the marlboro’s ( open another can of worms) so maybe that is tit for tat so to speak … just a thought…
