The Boys In The Big Brother House Remember 9/11

Ill never forget what i was doing….i was in the kitchen feeding my -then- 4 month old (now 10) -husband comes down the stairs and says “two planes” – i had no idea what he was talking about – turned on t.v. and cried all day…

I was at the auto shop getting tires on my car. They had a TV on in the lobby tuned to CNN but the sound was down. So when we saw what was on TV we had no idea what was going on until we got them to turn the sound up. Once it dawned upon us what had happened, everyone quit whatever they were doing and gathered in front of the TV to watch. I ran back across the street to my office to let them know and we tried to get onto the internet to a news site and couldn’t get anything, all their servers were busy. One of the girls in the office ran home and got a portable tv for us. Needless to say, there wasn’t a lot accomplised that day. I doubt any of us will ever forget where we were, kind of like the JFK assasination.

I remember that day so well. I went to work (for the IL Dept of Revenue) at the State Building in Rockford. Just before I left for work the tv news reported some sort of airplane problem in New York. While at work we were notifed of the Twin Towers being attacked. It was devastating. After a couple of hours we were told to leave the State Building as all government buildings were on alert for any terriorist attack. It was the saddest day of my life going home and watching the tragedy unfold on tv. Our country will never be the same, unfortunately.

TED – did u happen to be on lf when she was in the back yard one morning talking to camera – she sent a msg to all friends and family – she TOLD nick he could paint the bathroom – but only in a neutral color – and to keep the dogs off the furniture – she def wears the pants and he is suppose to be this ‘nice guy’ i think she will be getting tired of him and kicking him to the curb once the notoriety goes to her head…imo

I too will never forget where i was or what happened on 9/11/01. We were in a small town in Louisiana. Air Force 1 was flying over our public school and it was on LockDown. No one really knew the extent as to what was going on. No cable and very few people had satelite. My family in the Military called and said to stay away from the Air Bases and all Federal buildings. Took a lilltle while to get the story.

God Bless all those who Lost loved ones and a big thank you to those who saved a life that day.

I remember I was on my way into work in new york my daughter who is now 10 refussed to get in the car she cried kicked and screamed refussing to sit down and strap her in I was already running late and was getting mader and mader at her for not coroperating that that needless to say I never made it to work becuz by the time I got her in the car and dropped her off it had already happened I went back to her and held her and cried for hours she had saved my life and I have never forced her to daycare of school since

jazzyjazz, i do not know what your daughters name is, but i would call her Angel.
My nephew/godson Johnny was an EMT and he was on duty that day.
After months of thepary, he decided was too much he left ny and now lives in penn with his family.
Till today, every year on 9/11 he stays in the house and makes sure his family knows he loves them and thanks God to be here (at least physically) I cannot even imagine what he had seen that day.
But on to happier news, the feast of San gennaro is going on in Little Italy this week, and I am missing it, the streets are closed and vendors r set up with every kind of Italian food you could wish for, yummy it is a true festival.

looking forward to sun nite hope it will be fun to watch, and want to sneak a peek into the jury house to see if rachel and ragan have had their duel yet. Was it me or did Brendon look a lot more miserable then normal? Guess he is getting a clearer pic of rachel these days.
Add me to the lover of hockey, such a fast action game, and lots of excitement. i never understood football and i never will, to me all plays are incomplete, if the play does not end with a touchdown. love baseball too, but that is another story (GO YANKEES)

Mama Margie, you mentioned the explosion. Are you somewhere around San Bruno, CA where the gas line exploded? Because of that, we didn’t get BB Thursday nite. The news covered it from 6:15pm until midnite or later. It was a tradgedy with some people and houses actually inialated, many other homes burned, I do hope your family didn’t suffer any of it.

I was 10 blocks away..had just completed my job at the polls that morning and headed to my ‘day job’. I saw the first plane hit and saw the fire through a window that had burst open…paper floated out from an office…I finally realized that I was in shock and that they weren’t filming a movie…honking cars brought me back…I didn’t realize that I was in the middle of traffic…I ran to work and we spent the rest of the day taking care of people who were streaming from downtown, shoeless and covered with dust…we pleaded with them to come inside so they could see our social workers, use our phones, drink water, and watch the news. We were open all day. I’m reminded every morning when the sun comes through our bedroom window…the towers use to provide shade from the morning sun.

That’s a powerful story RaeLES… makes one stop and think about some of the gibberish we spout on here and elsewhere… sobering is good once in a while. My niece lived on the path to the Brooklyn Bridge and she and her roommate gave water and all their shoes to the people walking home that day. I guess it is shows like BB and Survivor blogs like this that help us cope with some of what is going on in the World today.

I was at work . I worked at a bank and a drive thru customer told us a plane just crashed into one of the towers. I said it couldn’t be because that was a no fly zone. Then my boss came out and said it was true. I went home to get a tv and start calling my family up north. Most of them worked right around there and one of them delivered to the towers. Thank God they where all fine. I couldn’t believe that just a few days before I was in Staten Island watching a AAA baseball game and looked at the skyline and got very sad for a moment. I told my husband that I wouldn’t see that skyline again. I had this really bad feeling about it and didn’t think anything about it until 5 days later and they where gone. I watched them build them up and I watched them come down. Sorry guys it’s just a sad memory.

9/11 – My husband called me to put the TV on. He traveled at that time for work and was in eastern PA; but he was scared because the plane over PA was still up. I was horrified and glued to the TV like all of you. He couldn’t get on a plane to get home so he rented a car, drove across PA to Pittsburgh was able to get a plane to Chicago the next day and then to Los Angeles. Orange County (John Wayne Airport was also closed). I drove to L.A. and picked him up. Boy was I happy to see him. What a day. I’ll never forget the images on TV. And, yes, I remember exactly where I was when JFK was shot.

Well, yes they do have to eat some disgusting local ‘things’ during one of the comps, but for the most part they live on either rice or beans, which is given to them, and fruit they gather and fish they hunt. Sometimes they get chickens in a reward comp, and they have tried to hunt birds and pigs. The winner last season killed a big rat which her tribe cooked and ate. Sometimes they have all been starving. I’m sure the Castaways hold the Houseguests in utter distain.

starfish, what a horror for you and your family. the not knowing was the worst i am sure. must have been the longest day of your life

And there are a few who have eaten bugs.

The castaways are divided into tribes… usually there is a reward comp and a tribal comp among the tribes on each show. Eventually at about 11 left they merge into one tribe. After the tribal comp. (I can’t think of the right term for some reason) the losing tribe goes to Tribal Council and they vote one of their tribemates off the island, which makes for some good discussion before the vote. The loser has their torch extinguished and takes the ‘walk of shame’.

I attended one hockey and sat on the edge of my seat. I was right behind the goalie and there was a lot of banging against the wall. I nearly wet my pants when one of the pucks hit the plexiglass or whatever it is right in front of me. Very exciting but I don’t know the ins and outs of the game.

I’m a football and basketball and volleyball fan. Of course, there’s Nascar races that my husband watches faithfully and now I even know the driver’s names and car numbers. Good grief, what’s the world coming to? 😀

Ted, I don’t know how they manage to eat that stuff but I’ve seen some pretty horrible eating binges, spiders included to complete a comp. Yuk!
