Dick Rules; Takes Giant Leap In BB8 Rankings

by soonerryan on July 19, 2007

Are you kidding me? Really? Really? Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction, and with that said, evel Dick is now the new HoH.

With that sentence, you know who was evicted. It wasn’t close. By a 9-1 vote, gonorrhea Joe was sent packing, and the one twist to the voting was that Mike — who had initially aligned strongly with Kail with regard to Dick — voted to evict Joe. He did it quickly, as if he had a last-second change of heart.

In the back of my mind, considering how open and honest Dick has been about gunning for Jen and then for Kail, I sorta hoped Dick would have a shot at the HoH. However, I thought to myself, “Self, there’s no way it could work out that perfectly.”

Does It Pay For Houseguests To Be Emotional?

by soonerryan on July 18, 2007

In the words of a broken heart it’s just emotions
Taking me over
Tied up in sorrows
Lost in my soul

Only three weeks into the Big Brother 8 season, and houseguests are preparing for a vote as emotional as I could remember from the entire breadth of Season 7 votes.

As of Wednesday night, it seems as if Dick has enough support to survive, meaning both he and his daughter Daniele would still be in the house just days after that seemed virtually impossible. In terms of their relationship, evel Dick has been much more the emotional of the two.

According to accounts of livefeeds I’ve read, Dick spilled his heart out to his daughter, offering what seemed to be a heartfelt “I Love You,” only to have Daniele say, “Alright then.”

On the other hand, Daniele had a breakdown of her own this week. After three weeks in a house away from your boyfriend and dog and two weeks on slop — poor girl — how could you not have been on the verge?

There is no question that emotions and being emotional at times play a role on the show and as part of a strategy. However, is being emotional and being so emotional right now, so early, a good thing for these houseguests?

Recap BB8 07/17/07

by BBaholic on July 18, 2007

My predictions this week for eviction and a recap of last nights episode.

I think Dick will be staying. CBS needs him in the house to stir things up and cause some drama because honestly they don’t have much of that to work with this year .. yet. I think the ‘Frenemies’ is a complete flop. We all know this show is part scripted and many house guests have complained about “being told what to say in the Diary Room.” So with that, Dick the 44 year old Bar manager will be staying this week so bye bye to Joe. Even though I was beginning to somewhat tolerate Joe, it was funny to watch him confront Eric about his ‘sleep-somethings’.

So once again Jedi Jani Daniele wins the PoV. That’s two consecutive weeks of her winning power of veto. I think we may have a Jedi Jani in the making! The competition was a simple task. Big Brother transformed the backyard to a winter wonderland. It came complete with a curling rink, snow, presents and a christmas tree! The object of the game was to push a curling stone down the ice and try to get closest to the red line which was marked in the middle. The person farthest away was out and had to choose a present from under the tree. As each House Guest is eliminated, they can choose to either take the previous House Guest’s prize, or pick a new one. Whoever wins the final round can choose whatever prize they want, including the PoV. Joe won a slop pass. Dick won a plasma TV but didn’t seem to care, he was hungry for the PoV. Jen got the red unitard. Mike got a BB8 date with who he chooses. Amber got a pair of handcuffs and was handcuffed to the House Guest of her choice, Kail for 24 hours.

Previous to the power of veto competition Jen took it upon herself to threaten the House Guests competing. Amber and Joe were for-warned that if they won PoV and used it to save either Dick or Daniele she would be putting up someone close to them. Amber, cried. Joe asked who was close to him and made it clear he could care less who she put up as long as he was safe. Ambers tears got some tempers going in the house. Daniele told Jen she knew what she said to Amber and that is sucks that Jen was doing that too her. Dick and Jen shared some words as Jen just la-de-dahed it and told Dick to have a good life and how she loves it when its stirred up. She later apologized to Amber realizing “everyones not like her” and some are sensitive. The apologizes were condescending.

I wonder how long it takes for word to spread about the Mrs.Robinson alliance. Nick wasn’t so tight lipped [click to continue…]

Is ‘America’s Player’ Eric Also Bi-Polar?

by soonerryan on July 17, 2007

There is a growing opinion among houseguests that Eric is not only a spaz, but some of them believe he’s bi-polar. They don’t know he’s America’s Player.

However, could his odd behavior, such as climbing into bed with Joe — Eric’s sleepwalking assignment — actually be directly leading to this perception? Could it be that the weirder the tasks become for Eric, the more his roommates think he’s nuts and the more susceptible to ouster he becomes?

Eric’s assignment was deemed a failure by Big Brother, but really, I thought he should have gotten a pass. The assignment achieved what it set out to do — creep the other guy out. Weird him out.

The next day, in the shower — two stalls next to each other, covered — Joe asks Eric if he sleep-anythings, like does he sleepwalk?

Honestly, I have done this. I have sleepwalked into a roommate’s bed. However, it was in a hotel room, and I didn’t get into the bed next to him. I jumped in on top of him as if he weren’t there. I was sleepwalking.

He freaked out and pushed me off. I was awake at that point; however, the machinations of my own weird experience made me think that Eric might have gone about this too carefully.

If the instructions were to hop into bed with Joe until Joe kicked him out, there is no level of detail as to “how” Joe gets in. He should have just hopped on in right on top of Joe, startling him — startling them both — and then the incident is over. Eric got too cute with this, too precise.

Nevertheless, in my book, Eric succeeded in the spirit of this task and, in my opinion, should have been rewarded. Whether or not he gets the ultimate reward as BB8 winner will have a lot to do with how the other houseguests view him in light of his crazy, America-inspired antics.

As always, come check me out at ryanwelton.com, where I also take a look at Tuesday night’s America’s Got Talent semifinals. Who’s worthy of the finale? Who should absolutely go home? Check me out there, and find out.

On Wednesday night, the night before eviction No. 2, I’ll make a prediction as to who’s headed home and offer my weekly game-play rankings.

Comes Down To Dick & Joe

by soonerryan on July 17, 2007

I’m not sure whether I like how this game is being played so far. One of Big Brother 8’s most volatile players will be evicted this week.

On one hand, we have evel Dick, a 44-year-old bartender whose daughter is in the house with him. Daniele had been nominated by HoH Jen this week, but for the second consecutive week, she won the Power of Veto competition and saved herself.

I’m not sure that I envisioned either Joe or Dick winning this bugger, but at this rate, the most boring four or five will survive to the end. I think the house needs Dick to stir things up, and Joe’s comments — such as a joke about cancer he apparently made, in addition to prancing around as if he were pregnant and mocking Amber — don’t exactly put him in the best light with the other houseguests.

So far, dare I say, the name of the game has been to be nice! ? . What the heck?

Big Brother isn’t supposed to be nice. Geez. However, even if it’s nice this season, I’m not convinced that we’re done with twists. One of the hot rumors going around right now is that Eric and Amber are actually twins. Eric hasn’t talked crap about Amber at all, and Amber hasn’t talked about Eric either. In fact, they have pretty much avoided each other.

The way I see it going down right now, Dick has the support of Amber and Dustin for sure. Joe has the support of Kail, which means the Mrs. Robinson alliance might all be voting for Joe. It really depends, in my opinion, on Daniele.

If Daniele has the urge to sway houseguests to keep her dad there, if she wants to take that route, she can convince Nick, and I think she can convince Jessica. That would be five of 10 votes right there. However, I don’t think she has any plans to intercede for Dad.

Kail, the best player so far, is campaigning against Dick as well. That’s too bad; I would have liked to have seen him reconcile with his daughter, or at least it would have been an interesting plot line this season, a season whose “enemies twist” is going to the dogs quite quickly. However, Daniele has made it clear that she and pops are just too far apart.

That Amber-Eric thing might just need to be true to spice things up a tad in the Big Brother house.

My gut hunch says Joe survives this vote, but let’s see what the next two days hold for houseguests. In the meantime, feel free to visit me at ryanwelton.com, where I touch on any number of television and pop culture topics. I’ll be writing and commenting all season about Big Brother 8, and I’ll post them all right here on big-brother-blog.com.

So the last person everyone wanted to win HOH did, Jen. Not only that but nominations took place yesterday in the big brother house leaving Dick and Daniele the father-daughter on edge. Just as most of us feedsters predicted. Big Brother informed the house guests that they would have to wake at 7AM this morning. The PoV competition took place and Daniele won the veto for the second time in a row. I’m pretty sure she will take herself off, I doubt she would save her dad. The question is who will Jen replace her with? I’m pretty confident Dick will be staying this week. Many house guest have tried to get Joe on the block but Jen thinks it will be a waste of a nomination since Joe is a target and to get rid of him would only leave herself as the target.

Amber and Kail have been hand cuffed together and Jen has a new skin tight red suit that she has to wear, we probably won’t find out why until Tuesdays show.

The food competition also took place. Boys VS Girls in what seems to be a competition that made Eric a little frightening to some of the girls. Daniele commented that he was scary and Joe said he was ‘physically shaking’ mad. Eric later said he didn’t care because he didn’t want to see the girls on slop because of how small some of them are already. The competition seemed to have the house guests guessing ingredients that were placed a pie. They found it difficult because one flavor out powered the other making is hard to guess the other.

Things have been rushed this week with nominations and the power of veto competition being so close together, Could this be a double eviction week like some of the house guests are speculating?

CBS Polls have been tallied

by BBaholic on July 13, 2007

All results are according to the cbs.com polls.

Week 1
Love’em or Leave’em

Americas top 3 favorite House Guests
#1 Mike – 17.5
#2 Jameka – 14.3
#3 Dustin – 12.4

I find this odd because they told Carol that she was the
#3 favorite and to try and stay in the game. She ranks
1.8 only leaving Zach (1.4) and Eric (1.6) below her.

Grand Prize
So at this point who does America think will win the grand prize.

#1 Mike – 18.7
#2 Kail – 16.9
#3 Dustin – 10.3

The last player is Eric with 0.7. For anyone who doesn’t watch the live feeds,
Eric has a foul mouth and loves to drop the *F-Bomb* every other word. One of the reasons live feed watchers don’t really care for him. CBS does not show his other side on the TV show. Some house guests have said they would be scared to nominate him because he has bi-polar tendencies.

And the first HG evicted is……..

by BBaholic on July 13, 2007

carol

CAROL– I think we all knew this was going to happen anyways! The vote was 10-1, Jen was the 1 vote. Atleast Carol got her wish with all the complaining she did about wanting to go home and threating to smash the cameras.

Jen

Jen won HOH playing “Majority Rules”. The house guests had to answer questions but not based on their answers would be, they had to base it on what the thought the majority of the house would guess. There was a tie breaker between Dustin, Jen, Joe and Eric. The winning question was a trick one. How many gallons of water will the teacup hold? Well the tea cup has no door so only the bottom

07/10/07 Dani has POV

by BBaholic on July 12, 2007

Daniele

CarolAmber

Amber & Carol Stay on Block
In a tensely contested Power of Veto (PoV) competition, Daniele proves her smarts as she trumps the competition with a savvy display of wits. Tentative alliances begin to emerge as the HouseGuests face the looming first round of evictions. Amber and Carol start to get serious about staying in the house and the lobbying games begin.

As Amber and Carol deal with their nominations, the rest of the housemates settle into the guilty relief of not being on the block. When the nomination ceremony ends Joe laughs, “Awkward,” as the silence that remains is indeed uncomfortable. Carol feels her and Amber’s nominations were Kail’s “safest option.” Jessica thinks she’ll “die” if she’s evicted before Carol, while Dustin feels sorry for Amber and gives her a hug after she takes her nomination “so personally.” Amber “feels like being on the block? (is) a gift to prepare (her) for long term things?to make (her) stronger.”

BFFs turned enemies Carol and Jessica chat idly in the outdoor teacup. Carol admits she “can’t campaign against Amber. I think she’s great.” Jessica thinks “Carol’s putting on a
