Big Brother 21 — Week 5 Veto Meeting Results

by Lisa Marie Bowman on July 29, 2019

Hi, everyone!

This is just a quick post to make it official. They did the veto meeting earlier today and, as expected, Nick took himself off the block. Holly nominated Kat (and not Nicole) as a replacement.

What this means is that Holly is really, really determined to get Sam out of the House this week. Originally, she was planning on nominating Nicole for eviction but she changed her mind specifically because she wasn’t sure that people would vote to keep Nicole over Sam. Even though she changed her mind, Holly and Analyse are still convinced that Nicole is some sort of secret challenge beast who is just biding her time. Analyse, in particular, seems to be frightened of Nicole and, as much as I hate to say it, I can’t help but feel that a lot of it has to do with jealousy. Analyse just isn’t very smart. She’s admitted as much in the house, at one point telling Holly and Christie that she was frustrated because everyone kept using big words and she couldn’t follow anyone’s conversations. Analyse then went on to explain that she didn’t know what an adjective is and that she has a heard time remembering the difference between a noun and a verb. Nicole, meanwhile, actually does have a vocabulary and can speak in complete sentences. No wonder Analyse thinks that Nicole’s some sort of secret genius plotting to take them all out!

I think what saved Nicole from going on the block was the belief that Sam will never betray Nick. As long as Sam is in the house, Nick will have an ally who is capable of winning stuff. So, the theory is that Nick will be permanently weakened if Sam is voted out. And they might be right.

Still, it’s a shame that Sam will probably be going this week. I’ve just started to like Sam. When the season first started, he got on my nerves because he was so loud and he always tried to be trying too hard in the diary room. But, he’s slowly won me over. If nothing else, he’s got a better sense of humor than either Jack or Jackson.

I don’t want to lose Kat either, though. Along with Nicole, she’s one of the few interesting people in the House.

So, in other words, this is going to be a frustrating week! Hopefully, something will happen at the next HoH comp to shake things up!

Yea I like Sam from the start and now Cliff has won me over. With this season going like it is I am trying not to get to attached to anyone as they will probably be gone soon from the 6 idiots.

I’m hoping Production will do something to stir things up! It wouldn’t be the first time they manipulated comps to favor someone they thought added interest to the show! The Six Shooters have got to be dismantled! (I wonder if Analyse knows what that word means! LOL!)
I’m hoping the Field Trip will be a way of leveling the playing field! We can only hope! Thank you Lisa for your great report! 💗
Goodnight everyone! Pleasant dreams! 💗

I seriously keep hoping that Holly has more going on in that head of hers than she has revealed, but I’ve become doubtful of that. I like her (sorta), but that’s only because I identify with her “country girl-ness”. On the other hand, Analyse is the type of girl every mother dreads walking in the door with her son. Very pretty, but not a brain in her head! I’d take one Nicole over 3 Analyse any day! (Of course I think my boys know this and don’t want any mom wrath, so it won’t happen!)
As for Sam, I’ve liked him from the beginning, and I hate to see him go this week… maybe the men will realize they’re outnumbered and decide to keep him, but I won’t hold my breath!
This has been the worst BB season in history, and I’ve watched every single one of them (guilty pleasure for a teachers summer). Of course, I think I’ve said that for the past few seasons! I keep thinking “it can’t get any worse”, and then it does… maybe casting has finally hit the bottom of the barrel.
It will be fun to watch when David or Ovi gets voted America’s favorite! Someone is going to win $500k, and I’m fairly certain, most of America won’t like who it is.
I sure wish BB still let America vote for evictions… maybe they’ll bring it back next season… one season too late. I vote to evict this entire cast…

Analyse played soccer as a forward at the University of Nevada-Reno. FYI, so unless one is majoring in soccer and nothing else, the University of Nevada-Reno is probably not a shining example where to achieve a degree in higher education.

I find it disturbing for anyone to belittle a person in, or had been in, college, regardless of what that college is. Above all, college is a place where students show the ability to learn, regardless of the subject.
I did a bit of research and the Univ of Nev – Reno ranked #219 in the country as of last year. That is out of 4300 colleges and universities, putting it in the top 5% in the country.
I find C’est Moi’s lack of empathy, intellect and knowledge, to be the not so shining example here. She/he should go back to making sure the cat is fed on time.

Actually it should have read the University of Nevada-Reno is probably not a shining example of where to achieve a degree WHERE pursuit of higher education – not a potential pro sports career post eligibility – is required of every student. And every college with athletic programs (money, money, money) that ALLOWS athletes to slide through the athletes’ eligibility years (Analyse appears to be a typical example) knowing full well most will never graduate for lack of academic achievement should be chastised regardless of “ranking.”

I now live in Alabama. Check the stats on how few Crimson Tide football players ever graduate for lack of earned credits. Then do the same for rest of the SEC, the ACC, the Big Ten, Big Twelve and on and on. Same result.

College athletic programs, in pursuit of money above all else, are selling the whole concept of higher education short, one non-academically qualified athlete at a time.

My empathy belongs with the non- academically qualified athletes who leave college short on both intellect and knowledge, not with those who turn a blind eye on the diminishing concept of what higher education should be about, first and foremost.

I agree with your thoughts regarding the money aspect of college sports but there is a flaw in your analysis. Many sports, such as soccer, are not money makers for colleges. Since we are talking about Analyse, I’ll talk about soccer.
1 – Because it’s a money-losing sport for the college, there are very few full scholarships available in soccer. Most all are partial (or even less). So it’s doubtful Analyse was getting a full 4-year ride.
2 – Even if Analyse makes it to a pro team, she would not be making much money. In fact, starting out she would probably earn about 40% of what an elementary school teacher makes on the low end of their salary scale. Analyse would probably make about $25,000. Granted, that’s not for a full year’s work, but the bills keep coming whether or not you are working. So, when I see women soccer players (of which I am a huge fan), they are there for the love of the game, not the money.
3 – I did my homework on Analyse. She graduated in May with a degree in Community Health Sciences, which with her only being 22 and playing a full-time college sport is pretty darn good.
So, again, while I do agree with your thoughts on college sports, money and lack of education in the end, I do not think Analyse qualifies.
