Big Brother 18: We’ve Reached That Point…

by Lisa Marie Bowman on September 11, 2016

Hi y’all!

Well, we’ve reached that point where the season is nearly over and, as happens almost every year, there’s suddenly not a whole lot to report about what’s going on in the Big Brother House.  The alliances have been made and, with so few people left, there’s really not much of a point in trying to blindside anyone.  At this point, everyone in the house knows where they stand.  They know who the target is.  They know who is working with who.

Corey is HoH.  Victor and Paul are on the block.  Nicole won the veto and she’s not going to use it.  On Monday, Victor is going to be voted out.  We’ll see it on Tuesday, on a show that will be live in name only.  Then, on Wednesday, it’ll be a week of Big Brother in one night and, unless Paul win HoH or the veto, he’ll follow Victor to the jury house.

(Feeds will go down on Monday and will come back on Tuesday.  So, Monday, I get the fun of trying to figure out what to write about with no feeds.)

Looking at our final five, it’s remarkable how much my feelings have changed about all of them.  You can go look at my previous posts and see what a roller coaster ride it’s truly been.  When this season started, I hated both Paul and Victor.  I liked James and I was totally rooting for Nicole, mostly because she reminded me of my cousin, Erica.  As for Corey — he didn’t make much of an impression on me.

I was happy the first time Victor was voted out and then I was just as happy when he got to come back, mostly because all the other possibilities were so obnoxious.  I couldn’t wait for Paul to get voted out.  I complained and complained about his beard.  I was worried that Tiffany would never leave the house.  I thought Paulie was going to win.

But, over just the past month and a half, my opinions have totally changed.  I’ve lost whatever respect I had for James as a player.  (I still like him as a person but, as a Big Brother player, it’s obvious that I and a lot of other people overrated him.)  Nicole no longer seems to be quirky.  Now, she’s just whiny and a little bit hypocritical.  As for Corey — I still don’t think there’s much going on behind Corey’s perpetually empty gaze but I have to give him credit for being good at comps.  He’s not much of a strategist (he pretty much does whatever Nicole tells him) but I’d still want him in my Big Brother alliance.

And then there’s Paul and Victor.  I was just as shocked as anyone to realize that I now actually like Paul and Victor.  Yes, they can both be pretty obnoxious but Paul can also be funny and his energy level has often been the only thing that’s kept this season from getting too boring to watch.  As for Victor, he’s a competition best and you have to respect his loyalty.

Who, of these five, will win?  To be honest, I really think that Corey has the best chance.  The jury hates Nicole.  The jury doesn’t respect James.  Corey, on the other hand, could easily be viewed as being the lesser of two evils.  The wild card is Paul.  If Paul somehow makes it to the final two, I could see him winning.  But I doubt he’ll make it past Wednesday.

We’ll see what happens!  Remember — we’ll see the result of Monday’s vote on Tuesday!  And then Wednesday will be fast forward.  Friday, as JT has informed us in the comments, will be the final three flashback show.  And then on Wednesday, the season ends!

(And, I’m happy to say, a new season of Survivor begins!)

We’ll see what happens!

Lisa Marie

I think that last night was the best Big Brother after dark. I laughter so hard at Victor,James and Paul. It was also the first night I didn’t want to tell Paul to shut up until they went to be. I bet if someone said they had a girl friend that was a brown bear he’d say his girlfriend was a polar bear.

Thank you Lisa. I agree that there is very little suspense left in the BB house. As I see it, if Paul wins HOH I am pretty sure he will put up Corey and Nicole. If James wins HOH ( which is a stretch since he hasn’t won much!), he would be wise to put up Corey and Nichol also, but will he?? Will he honor their final three agreement? I guess we will find out!! I am really ready for BB18 to be over. I feel like I haven’t contributed much, mainly because BBAD was too boring for me to waste my time on. As everyone on this blog has stated, this has been the best thing about BB18. Have you ever seen such good feelings and friendships formed as this season? People really caring about each other and sharing their experiences with us. It has been amazing. I will miss all of you. I am looking forward to Survivor! I have your website ready to roll! Have a great week! I may check back later. XOXOXOXO

Corey is a good at competing not much social player. Paul is a good social player he went up to all HOH telling how he felt who he wanted out right to the point. Nicole is just trying to stay in the game another Britney just could not win the money. Victor had two chances to stay in the house time to go. I did not think it was fare bringing him in the house two times. First time for anything goes like the saying says expect the expected.

Well it is winding down and a new Big Brother coming fast! I will sign up for CBS A.A. For watching the 2nd new season. So much for being productive this fall. I still like James but his play was not the best. I hope he and Nat have a chance it’s would be cool for them to be the next Jeff and Jordan they are so cute together.

Before I forget I want to Thank our leader Lisa Marie for her Outstanding writing, composing, and generally capturing everything that happens on the show and put it into words what a gift, what a talent we should not ever forget the job she does for us..

Speaking of us … I want you all to know how much I enjoy every post on here. I read them all, some I may not agree with, sometimes later I look back and change my mind and do agree with the posts, mostly I do agree with you guy because we are a family and when someone asks about something outside big brother it show how much we respect each other and care about everyone on the board. To me this is why I love our show ( CBS would say not our show lol) This is now a part of big brother to me. It’s a package the show, the board with all of you nice people, makes me look forward to this every year! I don’t watch Survivor due to I have to work at some point as I am self employed and have to keep up before I get to behind.

The next week should be fun and I hope your favorite wins as long as its the same as mine ha .
Love you all,
Mark from Kentucky

It is down to the end.. and not much left to strategize about or talk about in the house or in here. Even Sunday’s episode had very little to show and relied on more filler than any show yet this season. Like Seinfeld, this was the episode about nothing.

I guess the only one who has a decision to make is James. If he wins HOH, will he decide it’s in his best interest to break up Corey & Nicole? Or will he take his chances in final 3 knowing they will take each other to final 2?

Honestly, nominations don’t matter AT ALL in final 4. Whoever wins HOH could draw random names from a hat for noms…. makes zero difference. POV is the only thing that counts at that point.

Justaguy (JT) September 12, 2016 at 4:05 am

As said, feeds will be shut down this morning and not return until after Tuesday’s eviction show has aired on the West Coast.

When the feeds do come back Tuesday night, we will be able to find out who won final 4 HOH, and who won final 4 POV…. and who is left on the block.. and who has the sole vote to evict.

All of this stuff will have to happen while feeds are down Monday & Tuesday. At least I think so?? With another eviction episode on Wednesday night, they would have to have all that stuff completed by Tuesday night. A better option (to me) would be for them to save the POV competition for Wednesday’s live show. They could run the HOH comp package…. then go live for the final 4 POV comp & ceremony/eviction.

The only bad part about a live POV comp is it would have to be very simple, either questions or a quick comp (like “clown shoes”). A good comp, like face morph, couldn’t be done on a live show.

Either way… we will have a lot of info to catch up on Tuesday night.

I did read that part 1 of final 3 HOH will be on feeds after the show Wednesday night. That’s the endurance part.

Although BB has been a very disappointing season, probably the
worst on record, it has been a wonderful season for budding
friendships and the renewal of older friendships on this blog.
Thank you Lisa for supplying us with a medium that has drawn us
all together in such caring ways.

You are really great at what you do and have shown a pioneer spirit towards making sure we were all informed about what was going on, even when you had to be out of town or weren’t feeling well. Thank
you.

I, too, have changed my mind about the hgs over and over again.
I have moments when I like Paul (when he isn’t shouting or running
his mouth just to hear his own voice), but his language turns me
off sometimes. It gets too repetitive. I LMAO at his falls and seat
scooting/sliding during the last comp.

Vic has been a comp beast, entertaining at times (has a great laugh),
and can be very caring. But he has a temper and can be rather cruel
if thwarted. His biggest handicap was not understanding how the
game is played, which caused him to trust too much and not
understand “a target on your back” can get you evicted. It is time
for him to go. (IMO).

Nic has been much more irritating than entertaining, but she played
the game more than originally thought and deserves to be in the
final four.

IMO, Corey has not been given enough credit. He came in as did
all the other newbies without really knowing or understanding
what BB was all about. But he stayed loyal to his original partners.
He was kind and tried to help Paulie, when his actions turned everyone against him. He was calm and strong when he was attacked by someone unhappy with him. He had a way of making
those in the house feel they could trust him which pointed to a
good social game. He listened to Nic’s advice and pulled her
through with his comp skills. But I saw another side to him this
week. Nic and he talked about “the big moves”, but when it came
down to doing it….Nic faltered and fell apart emotionally. He
stayed true to what was best for their game, despite her flip-flopping
all the time over the decision they had to make. But he stayed
courteous and listened to her going back and forth and repeating “I’m scared”. He showed more patience and strength than I would
have been capable of showing. So, he deserves to be in the final
four.

James got through most of the season saying he threw comps. I
don’t really know if he threw them or was just not very good at
them. He let a showmance ruin his game play. Yet everyone likes
him and considers him not to be a threat. He would be a good
one to take to f2, because he has done nothing and is not very
highly thought of by the jury. I like him, but am very disappointed
in his game play. He’s lucky to still be in the game.

It’s a toss up as to how things will eventually turn out. The
POV holds more power now than HOH and sits on the throne for
the final scene.

Thanks Lisa. I appreciate everything you do to make the season better understood. I don’t envy you trying to write a blog with no feeds. Doesn’t sound fun to me.

I feel a little differently from many of the posters here. Every year it seems like we hear how boring it is and how people wish it was more exciting. I bet if we look back at blogs for the last 5 years that it becomes a common theme. It isn’t as fun and exciting as some of the early ones but I don’t know how much is just our perspective and expectations. The fact is that I don’t like Corey and Nicole. That’s my personal opinion and nothing else. I like Vic and even though Paul is annoying, he’s not too bad. James has so much potential and totally blew it choosing instead to play with Natalie. He wore his heart on his shoulder and forgot to play. Some people hated his antics earlier this season while I thought it was funny and kept things moving. However, it all works out, I will be back next season to watch again. And some of us will probably like it and some of us will probably call it boring again. I would love to see the powers that be come up with better house guests that have some gumption and who want to play the game not just get seen. But to me, this is not the most boring even though it has definitely not been exciting.

Cyndee: I have so enjoyed posting with you. If you ever need
to just talk, please e-mail me.
There will be many who will tell you “it’s time to move on”.
Ignore those who will speak from love, but have no real experience with the journey you are on. Only you will know when that time comes. And moving on does not mean we quit grieving or forget. We simply accept what we cannot change and find that getting up in the morning without our loved one is not as painful or difficult as it once was. That is when you’ve reached the meadow of peace.
Never be ashamed of your tears or emotions that speak of
love for those gone from your life. You have a lot of love to
give to others. That one gift will help you reach that meadow of
peace a little sooner than some. I send you love.

Well I’m late in commenting on this blog. Lot of family stuff going on but, I just want to say Lisa I haven’t told you how much I appreciate your blog this year. I’ve always been around for quite a few years but I’m more of a watcher than a talker. I did have another blog I would comment on a lot but the person decided to change it so the people commenting became more hateful with their comments and more uneccessary ( sp?) cussing was being used. Don’t get me wrong I’m definitely a cusser when it’s called for but this was just mean. Your blog has always had the nicest core group of people I’ve ever seen on a blog. So I’ve made some comments here and there this year. I’ve really enjoyed reading your updates and the comments from your regulars. You all know who you are so I don’t have to call names. I’ve felt like the new kid on the block sometimes but I’ve never felt excluded like some blogs can be when you are new to commenting. Anyway I just want to say to all of you that you are a blog with class. I appreciate reading everything on here. Game boring or not I always read this blog and I try to put in a word or two. You are a great bunch of people. I’m always reading so I’m here, just may not be talking.

Victor is da man and I’m bummed he’s leaving. He and Paul had me in stitches this year. Good thing, too otherwise it would have been another boring season. I was really hoping these two would make it to F2 but, realistically, I knew it probably wouldn’t happen. I don’t like the whole bring back the vets thing. Never cared for Nicole and James was even worse this year than the last. Can’t even mention Davonne or Frank since they left early (thank goodness).

As for F3, I would love to see Corey flip on Nicole, vote her out, take James to F3, only because she’s never been on the block this year and feels pretty confident she’ll win it all. Now THAT would definitely be a Big Brother move and I’d be laughing at the look on her face if/when Corey evicted her. Yes, I’m ruthless but hey, what else is there? I’ve had fun chatting in the feed chatrooms and made a lot of new online friends. Good luck to whoever wins this season but please, bb gods, don’t let it be Nicole. lol

Thank you Lisa but I don’t think any one expects you to write something when there’s no show. I certainly don’t. Other than that, yes, it’s BB at it’s best when we love to hate someone and then we hate to love the same person.

I was surprised at Corey coaching Nic to stay the course and get the big guys out. He’s right of course but I was surprised at her vacillating and feeling bad about nominating them. Really? This is a game and if you think loyalty wins, you’re nuts. So, on to Victor who is really a BB baby if he thinks they would take the two biggest threats in the house to F4. Plus, he would have taken them out next anyway. The loyalty at the end thing just doesn’t play because folks it’s a game for half a million dollars.

I want to see Victor on Survivor. I would have loved if he won but alas he was too big of a threat and he let everyone know it. Right now, as long as Paul goes, I don’t care who wins. Nic doesn’t bother me as much as some of you. She’s maneuvered a lot of strategy behind the scenes and now Corey is making the move she suggested first. No matter she was second guessing herself like always, she knows the game. Very disappointed in James who is not being cutsy and on cruise control. I wonder if he’ll make a huge effort to win HOH.

Starfish! I’d love to see Vic on Survivor too. I’d like to see Paul on Survivor also…just to see what crawls in or out of that beard at night. : ) Thank you for commenting when you could. I always love your posts.

Thank you, Lisa. This blog is what makes the show worth watching. Ever since the majority of players have been not wanting to get blood on their hands and the HOH room has been open to everyone to hang out in the show has become boring. We all want to see people strategize and it’s always good to have a safe place for the HOH to go and get away from people. It’s a much more exciting game when people don’t care who gets upset at them they just play to win. And the voting as a household is boring. They shouldn’t let them all decide as a group who they are voting for. People should have to keep their vote to themselves. Thanks to everyone for contributing this year. Although I don’t post much I enjoy reading everyone’s thoughts and ideas. I am so sorry for the loss of SWT and pray for her family.

Meggles,
thanks you so much for remembering my mama, wow I didn’t know how many people knew her. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, knowing what my family lost. I don’t know what else to say, except thanks for that. I needed to hear, that today, I’m a little low, so thank you for lifting my sprits !! 🙂

Janna- stay strong. I lost my mother 8 years ago. You never completely get over your loss but it does get less sharp. Just remember the good memories and keep her smile in your heart.

meggles, I agree with everything you said! I think the same about how the last few seasons have played very wimpy games! Afraid to get blood on their hands, throwing comps, barging into the HOH room without even knocking! Very boring and predictable!

Nicole (IMO) is a whiny spoiled brat! She is so phony when she is laying up with Corey professing how sad she is or feels bad or crying in the DR about who she’s getting ready to dog in the game…It’s all a ploy in her quest to achieve AFP!?! I really think if Corey turned on her she would go after Victor and didn’t Ratalie mention Nicole had “cuddled” with James in the beginning?!?
This group has been the worst…sleeping, crying, rolling around under the covers, eating like pigs, foul language (consistently), TMI on their bodily functions, poor housekeeping, questionable hygiene practices, etc…
I wish there would be some kind of twist to keep Victor, get rid of Paul and Nicole. then Corey!
Thanx (again) Lisa for your excellent posts…they are better than having to watch the show. 😉
Mark and Marla Jo I’m from Louisville, Kentucky…GO CARDS!

Thanks Lisa for your interesting blog. It made the BB season so much more entertaining, checking in here and then reading all the comments. Do you write a blog for Survivor? I would certainly like to read it. I hope it comes down to Nicole and James if not Victor. I really feel Corey just followed Paulie then Nicole’s lead. James showmance was entertaining and his laying low , riding the wave was a kind of strategy. Paul was entertaining but could not stand his constant use of the f word … so NOT friendship!

Well, we will see, as I previously predicted that was going around it was said that Paul would be the winner that’s who the producers wanted to win, so we will see.

Too bad about Victor because if he had won after being voted out twice, it would have been a great story.

Since this season started, I’ve thought that production wanted James and Nicole to be their final two and I still think that’s what is going to happen.

Mark from Kentucky! Thank you for your wonderful post. Respect and caring is what everything is about. You nailed it. Please give Survivor a shot. It’s only on once a week with no Survivor after Dark or live feeds so it won’t be as time consuming as BB. If not your thing, we’ll welcome you back next summer with open arms and hearts.

Lisa, our fabulous leader. I can’t imagine not being able to read you for months so I signed up for the Survivor and AR blog. I feel so close to you and so many bloggers on here, even if they are mostly silent like Mark for whatever reason. Not having this blog is as the Orange Growers used to say – a day without sunshine.

I have to agree this was the most boring seasons. I remember season where I could not wait to watch the show (especially the Jeff/Jordan/Janelle/Evil Dick/Dan/Danielle/Shane even the Aaron – the gorgeous girl with the racist thoughts was at least interesting. I forget the show is even on this season. I see it on my DVR and think oh yeah that was on tonight. Big different from season’s past.

starfish: Loved posting with you this year. I think Victor would
be a great player on Survivor, but I’m not so sure Paul would
last past the first couple of days. The bugs, the snakes, and
the dirty living conditions might be too much for Vic, though.
But I’d love to see him try. He might turn out to be a big surprise
as Caleb was.

Lisa,
I couldn’t agree with you more. I felt the same way about Paul and Victor in the beginning. When everyone started gunning for Vic and he came back the first time I felt differently about him. I also think it changed him a little bit. But I wanted the under dog to win and Vic fell into that role for me. Battling back twice was amazing and I found I wanted him to win, Alas! Paul can be over-the-top but I enjoyed him as the game has progressed and he cut back on his insecurities that came across as total arrogance. I NEVER
liked Nicole and I can’t tolerate Corey in the least. They both coasted all the way to the end and hid behind stronger players for two thirds of the game. Nicole creeps me out with her trying to hard to be nice but she is very manipulative, not to mention THAT VOICE ugh! Yes, Corey got some wins in but look at what kind of wins he took, a little height in some always helps. I loved how you mentioned his empty gaze! The MacGyver comp looked awfully suspicious to me when he walked right into the room and saw the pipes within seconds. HMMM! Onto James who is quite likeable when he isn’t up Nat’s behind. He has been more fun since she left than he was the entire season, but he is a follower. I couldn’t stand Nat’s fake persona and couldn’t believe he didn’t see through it and it ultimately threw his game away. So, I am not happy with the fact that either James, Nicole or Corey will probably win the game!! I will still hope a little that a miracle will happen and Paul will win veto!

Paul keeps saying he’s crazy and different. Really. Hipsters like him are a dime a dozen. Be original dude. Most boring season ever.
