Your Final Two? Guess Who … The Donatos!
Now that you West Coasters have caught up, let’s spill the beans for the rest of the world.
The Donatos are your final two in Big Brother 8.
In a season based on “frenemies,” in which the gap between father and daughter started as gaping but progressed to virtually nothing, Dick and Daniele teamed up to be unstoppable. After a Round 2 win by father E.D., Dick beat Zach 3 to 2 in a game of wits to win Round 3 of the HoH competition.
Of course, he ousted Zach, leaving father and daughter in the final two.
Julie Chen revealed that America’s Player Eric had one task left to do — to persuade the other sequestered house members to vote either for Dick or Daniele and then to cast his vote based on our wishes.
And I’ll be brutally honest. Dick Donato 100 percent, 100 billion percent deserves to win this game.
I was never crazy about the guy, but his ability to perform when needed and agitate the rest of the time truly made him not only the best player in this house, but right beside Will Kirby as the greatest player the American version of this series has ever seen.
Think about it. Sure, Daniele won several competitions throughout, but Dick paved the way for her romance and alliances to move forward without injury. He was the bad cop to her good cop, and that he survived in and of itself was a miracle. Of course, it helps when you can come through in the clutch as he did in the second week by winning HoH. As he did in winning a brief HoH a couple of weeks ago.
As he did tonight.
I’ll be honest again. I wanted Zach to win this bugger at the end. His out-of-nowhere, when-it-counted efforts were truly well done, and he’s gone from an afterthought in this game to a possible but still unlikely all-star once and if Big Brother does another.
Personally, I am not a fan of the Donatos in the least.
The scene with Zach and Dick on the pedestal, shaking and shivering from cold and pain, was the game’s best competitive moment of the season. However, I had more than a twinge of empathy for Dick, being the older guy, trying to hang in there for himself and his daughter. I’ve always said the biggest bullies are usually, dang it, the biggest softies.
I suspect we were all a bit wrong and a bit right about Dick. Both. I could care less that he “keeps it real” or that what he would do was “all strategy.” At this point, I just have to give this guy a tip of the cap for a truly, truly masterful game.
Many of us scoffed at the idea that he would become a Big Brother great at the start of the season. Heck, I was stunned he survived the second week. However, even if father and daughter plan to split the $550,000 they’ll collectively win, it would be a damned shame if Dick Donato isn’t crowned the winner.
I think the sequestered houseguests will agree. I think America will agree relative to Eric’s vote, and I predict Dick Donato will win this thing unanimously. 7 to 0.

Excellent analysis BBB to start this new Comment section for tonight.
I did gain added respect for Dick at the end. Honestly, did not expect him to do as well as he did against Zach in Part 1 and then, to be the one to go against Z in Part 3 and become final HoH.
All those who said Dick was rude to Zach… NO WAY. They both (D and Z) showed mutual respect for each other. I DVRed these last episodes and reviewed them. Total Respect. And, when Julie said Dick did his verbal deal on Zach for hours…she exaggerated. It was less than an hr Dick ranted. And, btw, Zach gave it right back.
We also missed some things Z did to Dani because she brought it up in the goodbye speech and Zach agreed. So, it was ALL game for all 3 of them.
For me, this was the best BB season. And, I agree,…Dick gains a side by side spot with Will for best BB player ever! I don’t think either will ever lose that spot to any future players.

Most of you people who put Dick down for his ways are the same people who pay money to go to Comedy Clubs to hear cussing, crude maneuvers and a lot of stuff even worse than Dick did… AND… you laugh and love it. Gotta luv it when you come on here and put the Ds down without thinking first.

I think it’s fantastic that Dick made it to the end. His play in the last HOH competitions showed how passionate and loving he is. Just goes to show you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Yeah, he does a lot of cursing but he keeps it real and speaks his mind. I know someone that is just like that but he would give the shirt off his back to help you if you ask. Dick had the game plan he carried himself and his daughter to the end. Danielle was a good competitor but she never would have made it to the end without the mastermind (Dick). More importantly, thanks to CBS for reuniting a father and his daughter. Great Job this season.

I hate Dick…I really do! I guess I have respect for the fact that he never stopped playing, but that is about all the respect I have for him. I did not want him to win at all. BUT with that said, he did earn his spot here no matter how he did it and kudos to that I guess. In the end, it is a game and boy did he play. He should be the winner.

Yes, it’s now a lovefest for the Donatos. What a great season! And, great, great game. I agree this one is right up there with Dr. Will’s first time on the show. I have to admit I was a bit nervous about Dick going up against Zach in the last HOH. But, oh what a win. Now it’s all gravy. Can’t wait to hear the questions the jury will have for these two. And, the answers D & D will have for them. Should be interesting to say the least.

I personally think Dani meant it when she said she loves her dad…mainly due to the way she said it and the look in her eyes. If it was for show, I believe Dani would have said it loudly and in a different tone. She looked Dick in the eye and whispered…’I love you’.
That added to the fact that when she realized how much paid Dick was in…she told him to quit…and, after he got down, she made sure he had plenty of blankets and warm tea.
If one noticed…she also brought Zach a blanket…but, she made sure her dad had two, then, she went and got him another one.
I’d bet a lot of the bad stuff Zach said to Dani was when it was off live feed. Noone heard it…but, in her closing goodbye video to Z, both of them (Dani and Zach) knew what she was referring to.

Because Dick is a friend, I *want* him to win. And it’s true, he did play the game as it was meant to be played, but I can honestly say that not once was he ever untrue to the Dick that we know and love.
I was soooo excited, to tell the truth!

Dick is the furthest thing from a redneck. He’s a bad ass Hollywood schmoozer and he totally deserves to win this game. People may not have agreed with his tactics…but give me one season where the winner didn’t use mean and stragetic tactics to further themselves in the game. Dick is a total gamer and a cool mofo who deserves to be there in the end, dodging elimination almost every week along with his HOT daughter. Go triple D, DICK AND DANI DONATO. If he is a tre friend to you Marie than I am truly jealous as I can tell Dick would be someone great to have on your side. They were the best players and the most entertaining as well. Dick had his moments where you wanted to hate him but in the end I only admire the game. Well done Donato’s!!!

I totally agree Dick played the game as it was meant to be played. I am just fascinated by Dick. It’s great to see how someone can play it right up front. And, either people were too afraid or too stupid to realize he was in it for the long haul & for MORE than the money. The money is just the frosting on the cake. I’ve loved his rantings but also loved seeing how protective he was of Daniele.
And, Dick has a lot more fans than some people realize. I being one of them. Major fan here.

I think he acted like a big bully, he was nasty rude and at times down right disgusting. He didn’t play it fair and honest, he lied. What about his alliance with Eric and Jessica. They both lied,they had no intention of doing what they said. Yet when it is there turn to get put up, Wow did you not hear E.D. What an ass. You know money can’t buy you class. I hope E.D. gets the money, he will be kind to his family, but the Happy Hooter chick - It’s all hers.

Each and every houseguest in the place had lied at sometime or another. Jessica would have turned on their alliance the week she had HOH if only Eric (America’s Player) had not interfered. Dick was more up front with people than any other in the house.
I know I’ll never change your mind about Dick and that’s okay. We are all allowed to have our own opinions. I enjoy reading other’s points of view on each of the HGs as well as yours. Thank you for that.

I find it amusing to watch those suggest that Dick played the game the way it was made to be played. Had Zach ‘grown a pair’ and used the POV to remove Eric from the block thus forcing the outster of Danielle or come up with a win when needed at the end it would have been him and Dick and a 6 Zach and 1 Dick vote since in the end the game is just as much about making sure you kill people but still make them want to vote you in which Dick did not do.
The reality is that were America not so myopic and not into supporting/hero worshiping a ‘bully’ with ‘tude’, (someone they would in reality walk across the street to avoid passing), then he would have been gone before Dustin. He did not play this game well, he simply lucked out due to Eric and despite his “quote great gameplay” he in fact has misinterpreted almost everything, including the fact that were he up against anyone except Danielle he would be creamed..
I mean really in the end is this is really the message the show wants to send? Be a jerk, a bully and an ass and you will succeed? Anyone who compares the Elegant game play of Dr. Evil to Dick doesn’t get the nuance of the game. There is no comparison between the best player ever in Big Brother and the fact the game placed a cobra amongst a bunch of kittens and was able to get his way.
Sadly for myself seconds after I saw Dick won the HOM I stopped watching. I mean really why bother at this point. Why watch a guaranteed 50/50 split of the money let alone have to listen to the kittens whine how mean Dick was, (they had their chance to kill him), or to Dick go on about his strategy which was nothing but an America Choice based on some strange premise. The show is over for me and I wonder whether it will be the lowest rated final two episodes…
… since who cares?

I agree, everyone lied at one point or another. My only problem is this, did ED really have to resort to attacking each person the way he did. I am the same age as ED 44yrs old, I knew kids in school like him and don’t have a single thing to do with any of them. If you have to resort to that kind of behavoir just to get something then that only shows just how pathetic and imature someone really is. To some it up, ED is a bitter, old, pathetic man who has a spoiled, complaining daughter and now has $500,000.00. I doubt very seriously that any good will come from this. ED and D stopped talking to each other over money and it would not surprise me if they end up not talking to each other again because Dani did not get her way in one situation or another with her Dad. I will not be watching next seasons BB or any other BB show. This just showed me how desperate CBS was for raitings and how FIXED this whole game was.

I have to agree with you Ted. I’ve just watched tonight’s episode, and I no longer feel a need to watch the show. Even if they weren’t going to be splitting the money 50/50.
I’ve disliked the Donatos and their gameplay since the beginning. Dick (couldn’t have a more fitting name) is nothing but a bully, and has been since DAY 1. And Danielle, with her “I can’t believe just 10 weeks ago, I wouldn’t have cared if he went home at any time.” (paraphrased) What the hell is she talking about? Just a couple weeks ago she was talking shit about Dick. It just seems if Dick hadn’t come through for her, and kept her in the game, then she wouldn’t have anything to do with him. I’ll bet you anything: within a year, she won’t be talking to him again. Unless he has more to offer her. That’s just how she strikes me.
It may seem evil of me, but when she was crying about being sooo cold. And crying in the shower and what not, I laughed out loud. So funny, so deserved.
One last thing… I hope Danielle’s bf back at home has seen the true evil that is Danielle, and kicks that bitch to the curb. Regardless of money.

Well guys here we are … final two … Dick and Danielle … kidda leaves a bad taste in mouth but it is what it is. I really don’t care at this point who wins I will only be watching the finale just to see AP revealed. Props to Dick for being a dick. He bullied his way to the F2 … but like Zach said … I don’t agree with his tatics … but it worked and that was the object of the game to win the prize and for Dick to hopefully mend his relationship with his daughter. He did both .

Zack go out very gracefully, I do believe he was just with the wrong people and that made him look outcast. Loved how he started to yell at Dick in part one, was so funny to see the surprise look on Dick’s face, like what how there you behave like me. Zack would have deserved to win, but Dick did win the competitions and also deserves his spot, I still dont care for him. But well done!

I am done with BB. This season was rigged from the beginning. There are other ways to bring up ratings. They let Dick whatever the hell he wanted but gave Jen a penalty vote for eating. Dick blatantly admitted to cheating with the blue ball incident and they did nothing. I hope Jameka will take out a lawsuit against CBS.

I went from extreme dislike relative to how he abused the house guests to amazement at how seemingly afraid the others were to evict him. Dick should win based on being the best player. Danielle should use her “share” of the prize money to complete her education. She deserves to be more that a “Hooters” girl (no slur intended.) After giving this a considerable amount of thought, I do believe that Dick and Daniele deserve to be in the final two. What I think about how they handled getting there, they did a great job and worked their butts off and do definitely deserve to be in that spot. I would have preferred Dick and Zach in the final two. I am kind of mean, but I would love to have seen the scene if Dani had to leave and then her trek into the SH.
We need to really push the producers to start filming the SH the last week of the show. Live feeds. That would be a great thing to watch.
Kudos to Zach. I think he did have a strategy and it almost worked for him. I think he went out gracefully. I wish he could have won something.
Father and daughter in the final two is something big and hats off to them for working so well togther and getting there.

That being said, don’t like the way Dick handled everything. I know that bullying was his game plan, but I don’t approve of it, but it did work for him.
As far as him putting the blue ball in Jameka’s tube, I am going to scream if I hear that one more time. I have never been a fan of theirs but he did not admit to doing it and he did not do that. That has 100% been established already. Come on guys.

When all is said and done, and for the first time in BB history the final two ARE the two best players and the most deserving to be there. They didn’t make the final two by happenstance, accident, riding someone else’s coattails, flying under the radar or floating. They made it by seriously playing the game and everyone in it, keeping it non-personal, and playing to WIN! Every person in that house had the opportunity to go after them and get them out. They were on the block TOGETHER three times. But because of their game, they are where they are and where they deserve to be. Posters here are more bitter than Zach, who finally stepped up to play, albeit too late. He wasn’t the “muscle” after all but obviously a hell of a nice guy. And they sometimes finish last, but he made it farther than the others, so kudos to Zach. Now on to some gloating…
And finally, to all you bitter D&D haters, (Ronjj, bam, etc.)…in the words of our DICK, BOO FRICKEN’ HOO! Keep your promise that you won’t be watching next year and clogging up OUR blog with your useless, pointless, worthless, ridiculous, conspiracy laced, overly-sensitive, wimpy posts. Good riddance to bad rubbish. We won’t miss you any more than the idiots in the jury house.

I contend that eric played a great game and if it were not for him, the evil D’s would have been evicted long ago… and I say Eric only because he as able to manipulate the other HG into voting for who he was pushing for (america’s chioce)… So the evil D’s Great Players — I say No, Good players yes, but not Great… Eric I feel is the only one that came close to great…
I would also say that about Eric, I wonder how he would have done without the AP twist??? Being AP gave him a focus and something to strive for… and he was able to get most of the people targeted out, but I wonder if he would have been as masterful on his own… and of course, competition wise, he sucked, but he still made F5…

I along with a bunch of my collegues will not be watching anymore of this season…this is all aimed at ratings and not fair play…but it’s entertainment I guess…if America’s player was given a pass for one episode to vote as he wished…kinda like “America’s Player Choice”…Dick or Daniel or both would have been gone way before the producers of BB8 even swallowed the Donato’s load…I enjoy the show but hope this isn’t a prelude of what is to come in the future…

I think if Dani wins, Dick is in for a big surprise. She won’t share a dime with him because she’ll feel he gets $50K and that should be enough. She’s a self-centered little brat and only thinks of herself and how she can use people. I believe she actually uses people up and then tosses them away when she’s done with them. Anyone who doesn’t have a relationship with their family and doesn’t speak to any of them can’t be much.
