Well, first off, allow me to wish all of our American readers a Happy 4th of July! Like a lot of you, I’m getting ready to head out so I can spend this holiday weekend with my family, watching fireworks and hopefully getting a lot of shopping done on Saturday. But before I leave, I wanted to give everyone a quick update on what happened last night!
Okay, as we all know, during the live eviction, Joey got voted out by a vote of 13 to 0. And I have to say that, despite the fact that everyone had pretty much told her that she was going home, Joey looked really shocked when the results were read. Her exit interview with Julie also seemed to go on forever, with Joey basically muttering most of her answers. I’ve always said that Joey’s downfall was less her strategy and more the fact that she has absolutely no social skills and I think her interview with Julie pretty much proved that.
But anyway, Joey’s gone and no longer a factor. If you were wondering how that was going to effect Team America — well, apparently, it will now be a two person alliance and Donnie will be one of the members. That’s right — America voted in Donnie and I’m not really surprised because, as is obvious to anyone who follows the conversation on twitter and this blog — people love Donnie! I will be curious to see who the other member of Team America is. I’m going to guess that it’ll be Frankie.
(Whoops! My mistake — apparently, there will still be three members of Team America and the current vote is to pick TWO final players to join with Donnie. I’m getting this from the CBS web site, which does a better job than Julie Chen at explaining how all of these twists works! — LMB)
The HoH comp was basically everyone having to balance on a beam while carrying and stacking beer kegs. The girls competed first and the guys competed second. When the girls competed, the guys got to throw frisbees at them. Unfortunately, once it was time for the guys to compete, almost all of the frisbees had been thrown. Just a but unfair, I think.
Amber won for the girls. I, honestly, was hoping that Jocasta would win, just because it would be a chance to discover where Jocasta’s head is actually at. But no, Amber won and my first reaction was to go, “Oh my God, what if she nominates Caleb!? That would be great!”
(By the way, BB finally acknowledged Caleb’s “crush” on Amber last night but they did so in a way that seemed to be designed to make it seem cute as opposed to seriously creepy.)
For the guys — Hayden won! Oh, wait a minute, no, he did not. He actually fell off his beam mere second before he would have won. But that’s okay — CODY WON! YAY! Oh wait a minute — turns out that, for maybe the first time ever, the BB producers actually checked the tape and announced that Cody had actually slipped off the beam at some point during the comp.
So, that means that the other HOH is –
When Julie announced that Devin was the HoH, you could tell that Devin was expecting to hear applause but all I could hear were a thousand BB viewers all screaming, “NOOOOOOO!” at the same time.
Anyway, I missed most of the LF action tonight because I was busy packing so I have to thank JT, Star, and all the other commenters for keeping us all updated on what happened in the house after the live show ended.
Amber nominated Hayden and Nicole for eviction — which makes sense as neither one of them is a member of the Bomb Squad and, though it hasn’t been shown on the show, Hayden and Nicole have a showmance going.
Devin nominated Brittany and Paola. This was actually a really smart move. Brittany was trying to get Devin nominated last week and Paola is so bad at competitions that she probably would keep anyone she was partnered with from ever winning a Battle of the Block. (I have a feeling that Paola might get nominated every single week, just because she is seen as such a weak competition player.)
Devin, in fact, asked Paola to throw the Battle of the Block and Paola seemed to be open to it.
Meanwhile, it looks like the Bomb Squad is already starting to turn on their own as apparently 6 members of the group are open to backdooring Devin. Those members are Cody, Christine, Amber, Zach, Derrick, and Frankie. So, though he might not realize it, Devin’s only real ally in the house is Caleb.
(And you can be sure that if the Bomb Squad is willing to get rid of Devin, they’re probably willing to get rid of Caleb too. In fact, they’ll probably have to if they vote out Devin because Caleb will probably lose it.)
Now, personally, I would have loved to see Devin get backdoored this week but it’s not going to happen because Hayden and Nicole won the Battle of the Block. (I don’t know for sure whether or not Paola actually threw it — I guess we’ll have to wait ’til Sunday’s show to find out for sure.)
So, here’s how it stands on this 4th of July:
Devin is the HoH.
Brittany and Paola are the nominees.
Power of Veto has yet to be played.
And now, I’m off to enjoy fireworks! Everyone have a good and safe 4th of July!
