A bedtime bitch session ultimately led to the first eviction nominations of the Big Brother 10 season, which got started (on TV) Sunday night.
Iowa bodybuilder Jesse and New Orleans socialite Renny are the first two on the block. Jessie was trying to sleep while Renny was trying to open a door so that she could take off her makeup, and she started yapping, cackling and “howling like a jackal.” Jessie made a fuss about it, and Renny told him to quit being a baby.
Long story short is that 75-year-old HoH Gerry MacDonald used this as leverage and reasoning in making them this week’s nominees, saying that the rest of the house could decide which of the two would go.
Unlike typical HoH ceremonies, Gerry didn’t win a contest or a competition. He was elected to be HoH, and by a 4-3 vote, he beat Renny. We do not know who else got votes, just that Renny got 3 and Gerry 4. This happened before the houseguests moved in, and he seemed quite grateful, declaring over a champagne toast that he already “loved these kids!”
Typically, it’s a curse to be the first HoH. We’ll see how this plays out for Gerry.
All in all, the way he handled nominations was quite diplomatic and reasonable.
Behind the scenes though, he might have a little something working with Brian, the telecommunications salesman. On behalf of Dan, a Catholic school teacher, Brian went to Gerry and leveraged their military experiences as a currency of bonding, suggesting that Gerry nominate Jesse and Renny.
Guess what: That’s what Gerry did.
However, it wasn’t before Gerry suggested Dan, noting that he thought Dan was kind of a weasel. Brian quashed that, and Gerry passed off the decision as being all about the pair’s earlier conflict. What Gerry doesn’t know is that Brian and Dan (and Ollie) are already in somewhat of an alliance.
It’s too early for an alliance, fools!
Alas, it was a pretty typical premiere episode, complete with feigned excitement over finding their BB keys. I mean, the CBS camera is there. How stunned could they really be?
The houseguests moved in, and the only hubbub over rooms was Dan’s insistence in being in the red-and-black themed room. Didn’t want the pink room. Too girly.
There was a champagne toast, and Ollie, a 27-year-old preacher’s son, did not participate because he does not drink. I didn’t inspect too closely, but he appears to be the only teetotaler so far.
Outside of the nominations, the big event of the night was a slop competition, the first of BB10. But it wasn’t any ordinary comp: This one was for a vintage automobile, either a ’65 Mustang or a ’69 Camaro. I’m not 100 percent positive on the year of the Mustang.
The contest featured a pair of upside-down Volkswagen bugs in the back yard. The houseguests had to split up into two teams, and one houseguest had to decide to sit out. That would be Jesse, who didn’t want to intimidate his fellow houseguests in a competition.
“Hopefully, my physique doesn’t handicap me,” he said at one point in tonight’s show.
The gist of the game was that each team had to get each of its players into the upside-down car and then navigate it across and then back across the yard. At the end of one full trip, the team had to decide on one player to let out of the car. That player would be eliminated from the competition but could still help push the vehicle across.
The team to complete this process until only one person is left and until that person has gone back and forth one time will win the competition and will avoid slop for the week. That last person will win the vintage car of his or her choice.
The winner? Memphis, the mixologist.
Wow, this guy is kind of cocky. He isn’t a bartender; they sling whiskey and coke and beer. He creates drinks. He’s a chef for alcoholics, which is a rather insulting thing to say about a clientele. It would be like a chef of Southern cuisine (chicken fried steak yummy goodness) saying he’s a cook for fat people.
However, Bobby (Memphis’ real name) didn’t have a car. Steven, the gay rodeo cowboy was kind of in the same boat relative to transportation, having had truck problems recently. The Dallas native lost a game of rock-paper-scissors, giving Memphis the win and the car.
So, were the leakers before the show right about what happened? They got the Gerry HoH part correct, but he did not just pull names from a hat to get nominations. Whether or not the discussion with Brian had much to do with it, Gerry seemed pretty calculated but diplomatic in picking Jesse and Renny.
And, Renny is getting on the house’s nerves.
“She’s totally off the deep end, off the reservation,” Memphis said.
And she is. Renny is cuckoo, and I think I like it although I would acknowledge some level of annoyance. She has a bit of BB8 Jen in her just from the level of nutiness.
In the end though, Gerry believes Jesse and Renny will self-destruct, so he had no problems putting them both on the block. He noted that he believed it was a safe choice. On the other hand, Brian believes he’s pulling all the strings already, which could be the case. It’s just a tad too early to tell.
So, it’s time to fire up the live feeds and get some real scoop. AND, if you guys have any specific questions about what’s going on in the house, I’ll do what I can to sleuth it for you — so fire away with comments, questions, etc.

Yeah, Renny (Lucille Ball) is walking a fine line..but I kind of hope she stays because of how she gets on everyones nerves. Loved her “get-up” in the Diary Room with her glasses!
Jessie needs to lay low and win POV. Too bad Brian and Dan alligned. And Memphis/Bobby is way too arrogant…or at least comes off that way.
I’m ready to throw some worms and catch these fish. The feeds are taking too long. Well…at least BBAD should be good!

I think these HG’s should lay low a little bit, be friendly as its way too early to be the master of all schemes much less let others know about it. It’s too early to tell who my fav’s are but there are a couple that definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Here I am sitting in front of my computer passing time until either live feeds show up or BBAD starts. Either way I’m ready.

It’s an awesome start. What an eclectic group of people! I have no idea either who my favs are. I can’t handle Renny – she’s way over the top. And, sees the world a little askew. But, it takes all kinds and she could keep the house hopping. We’ll just have to keep tuned in to see what happens. I for one am loving it!

I don’t like Renny either. I don’t like her at all. She thinks young people are babies, and thinks it’s not respectable for Jerry to ogle the young ladies. She is a bit of a hypocrite, and then there’s the fingernails on the chalkboard voice. The body builder has been on other reality shows, and from what I understand, my best friend (who has a farm) has fence posts smarter than him. He doesn’t irritate me though.

Oh boy, this looks like a fun season ……….. the cocky guys and their alliance need to lay low and watch instead of trying to lead the way. The nutso’s will drive each other crazy and get the early boot.

I don’t know….i’m trying to get into these people but…lets be honest…they’re BORING!!! Nothing that happened tonight was a surprise..almost could have written it. And BBAD put me to sleep..literally!!! There’s no chemistry between any of these people. And for all the kevtching we all did last season about wanting more MATURE players, well……maybe this is one of those be careful what you wish for things!!!
I am seriously finding myself missing BB9!! The 1st BBAD had Jen confessing she and Ryan were actually together and the whole night was full of DRAMA!!! I was never bored watching BBAD last season….shocked or disgusted maybe but neever BORED!
I gotta admit to being a tad disappontd so far……but Ive never quit watching any seaaon yet so…..I just hope it gets more interesting……SOON!!!

Ok I may have gotten my wish faster than I’d thought!! I just went over to BB10 dish and since the feeds had finally come up she included a few kind of for testing. In one, Steve and Brian were talking and Brian was talking about being on the block!!?? I thought Rennie and Jessie had been put up. I always forget that the show isnt real time and the AD is. So maybe they had the POV already and Brian got put up???

Yep Star, your right, Jerry is HOH, Jerry put up Renny and Jessie for Nom. due to their argument with each other at Brians suggestion, Jerry won POV and took Jessie off the block and put Brian up because Brian double crossed him with an alliance with Dan and Ollie before his alliance with Jerry, thats why Brian didn’t want Jerry to put Dan on the block just yet was due to Brian’s silent alliance with Dan before his alliance with Jerry and Jerry figured it out, this old man is a smart old coot, he’s watching every move of all the houseguests, but he kinda likes the girls, I think Angie is Brian, Ollie and Dan’s mole.
Damn can they keep that kitchen any cleaner?
Bet the bedrooms won’t stay that clean, still don’t know yet who shares which bedrooms.
I don’t like this pre-recorded shows a week before the premiere showing, makes it very confusing for the viewers trying to figure out what happened on what day before the opening premiere.
I heard the HG’s say they couldn’t drink any booze until after the Showtime 2 show went off the air, and they were watching the clock counting down the time when they get to drink their beer and wine and said BB told them they would be given more booze after “BB After Dark” Ended
if thats the case for the whole series then we don’t get to see how the HG’s act after they start drinking, so we are being kept in “The Dark” if we don’t have the live feeds, which alot of us can’t afford the live feeds plus Showtime.
Damn, I already pay Directv $115.00 a month as it is, can’t afford live feeds too!

OK…..first 5 minutes in the House, Blonde Boob Real Feel? OMG….that was pretty random! Happy for Gerry though, things are going to get wild with her….However, if they dont get rid of Renny first……I will have to DVR the show so that I can just fast forward that crazy, mental, no clue lady! Jerry seems to know the game and have a plan, however he may be too aggressive from the get-go. The others will know he is on to all of them, see him as a threat and be rid of him, so that they can get their ‘game’ on. I was very surprised of the alliance within minutes of getting in the house. There wasn’t even time to to scope out the house guests. Brian doesn’t play it cool, you can read his face. Jesse surprised me, he was 1st to bed and anti social and then probably shouldn’t of said anything to Renny since it was the 1st night and everyone was excited and settling in. However, Renny’s voice is something that would def get on my nerves, just like Natalie on BB9

lmao honestly, best way to open the season .. I love Jerry, he is so adorable and that will work in his favor in the end plus the other house guests seem to like him, although brian, dan, ollie, and jerry’s “alliance” will be broken up soon, no one should be making alliances this early.
My personal opinion is that Renny needs to go, she was TOTALLY out of line, and Jesse actually handled it calmly .. shes really annoying ….
i dislike dan, he seems “cocky” and brian is basic nothing too suprising .. lmao ..
my favorite part was the ending to the first episode, where renny was sitting and drinking and called jesse a “baby” and all you see is he appearing from around the corner with an upset look on his face .. laughed sooooo hard
